Pete Buttigieg and his husband Chasten Buttigieg are
in a world of hurt it seems
Even with his $220,000 a year salary as Transportation Secretary they are struggling
to live the American Dream
It seems that the monthly rent for their one bedroom apartment in a secure high
rise is $4500 bucks
The two of them with Chasten as a school teacher out of work trying to make
ends meet are out of luck
But most experts advise never to spend more than 30% of gross income on housing
costs
Which means for this couple unlike most couples, frugality and budgeting is a
skill long lost
This poet does not the Swamp’s rental market but others who do were quick to
the couple mock
Touting there are many apartments with a much lower sticker shock
Maybe the couple is feeling the karma from the teachers’ union campaign
To fight to the bitter end to flush in school learning down the drain
Chasten teaches drama which does poorly on Zoom
To teach acting it’s maskless up close and personnel in the same room
Before for this couple we shed any sympathy tears
They own a second home on Lake Michigan to on weekends or recesses appear
Not sure either how much more the rent is due to security having to be spent
As violent crime soars in the Swamp as cops resign or pink slips are being sent
Maybe as Pete “suffers” and sees his wallet being drained
They might see the light and join the fight to the “Defund the Police” protests
