Negative Attack Ads Kill Compromise

Most Americans are not idiots and want to know what the candidates will try to perform
Not with partisan rhetoric and personal attacks that today seem to be the norm
How can gridlock ever be solved when your opponent you personally in a campaign attack?
Basic human nature is to shut down or retrench so any chance of compromise is fatally set back
The ads now coming out in a frenzy as the campaign finally nears and end
Are increasing the sad negative, mudslinging on both sides trend
The race card once again has by the Blues is now being dealed
If Reds are elected black youths’ fate like Brown and Martin will be sealed
Negative ads are on both sides and the more they are aired
The easier it is for the voter to see the base side of politics bared
When will the light bulb go on that the Reds will not win 60 seats?
Which means without compromise with Blues all cloture motions will go down to defeat
If the Reds do not have 60 they certainly will not have two thirds
Unless Blues join any vetoes will stand no matter the outrage heard
Debt, Jihad, Borders, Security, Taxes, Jobs, Keystone, the list goes on
When will the Reds and Blues to their rabid extremes cease being pawns?
If ever there was a reason for term limits this campaign and gridlock proves the case
If one could not make it a career, one might go to the center instead of being trapped in the fringes’ embrace

Ridley's Believ It Or Not October 31 History Halloween

Ridley's Believe It Or Not—October 30, 2014:  Trust your Halloween will be a great one and as always hope you enjoy the holidays and observances, factoids and quotes involving Halloween and a poem relating to Halloween just posted on www.alaskanpoet.blogspot.com “Halloween is not just for kids”, with a smile on your sunscreened face, enjoying a caramel apple, blessed with a positive attitude even though you know you will have to wade through tons of spam in your inbox, and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for a memorable event or the coming Christmas, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient.
      1. Halloween—Tonight is the night that drivers in residential neighborhoods must drive oh so carefully as the streets as clogged with young ghosts and goblins weaving under the weight of bags full of candy and later the roads will be clogged with adults in costume driving back from Halloween parties.
      2. Books for Treats Day—celebrated since 1995 an idea created by Rebecca Morgan at her home in San Jose  of “feeding children’s minds not their cavities.” Great idea to give used children’s books as opposed to candy (probably cheaper too).
      3. 7 Billion Day—commemorating this day in 2011 according to the best estimates of the U.N. that population of the Earth reached 7 billion; the day is to be observed by creating awareness of  reproductive health, poverty, women empowerment, youth, environment sustainability, ageing, and urbanization, by encouraging people to take actions and recommit to humanity.
      4. Now You Know Who To Blame—wcelebrating not the proclivity of politicians to blame the other party but rather the difficulties in achieving weight loss occasioned by the birthday on this day in 1860 of Juliette Low, the founder of the Girl Scouts U.S.A., the organization that brings us those delicious Girl Scout cookies we find so hard to resist.
      5. National Caramel Apple Day—celebrating a treat that is both  great for your health (apple) and great for dentists (caramel).
On this day in
      a. 1913 the Lincoln Highway, the first highway across the United States from New York City to San Francisco, was dedicated.
        b. 1941 after 14 years of work, Mt. Rushmore was completed.
       c. 1984 Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by two of her Sikh security guards, causing widespread rioting in India in which over 10,000 Sikhs were killed.
      d. 2000 a Russian Soyus rocket brought the first resident crew to the International Space Station which has been occupied continuously and amicably since then (why can we not have the same concept on Earth)?
Reflections on Halloween as you check to make sure the candy bowl is full and your costume and the costume of your trick or treaters is ready to go: 1. “ I'll bet living in a nudist colony takes all the fun out of Halloween.” ~Author Unknown; 2. “Eat, drink and be scary.” ~Author Unknown; 3. “True love is like ghosts, which everyone talks about but few have seen.” ~Author Unknown  Please enjoy the 140 character poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and join almost 150 growing followers and please follow me) and follow my blogs. Halloween Not Just For Kids

Humanity since it first came down from the trees and stood erect
Has sought ways to youthful appearance remain and the aging process deflect
In the past it was Ponce de Leon landing on a Florida beach
Searching in the swamps for the fountain of youth always swamp hidden beyond his reach
Or the search to drink from the Holy Grail
Like the alchemists seeking to turn lead into gold, doomed to fail
Today it’s the surgeon’s knife, creams, gyms, stem cells, new replacement body parts
Despite all efforts the features of youth without slowly ebb and depart
Leaving trapped within a person still young at heart
Here is an idea for the image of youth without to restart
On Halloween an adult needs only a costume from head to toe
List includes Superman, X-men, cheerleader, Tinker-bell, to feel the aging ebb in its flow
On Halloween relive your childhood and in an adult size replicate that costume dress
An easy way, no matter how brief, the aging without process to suppress
It matters not as long as the costume is not a senile woman or man in a wheel chair or with a cane
In a Halloween party or even so dressed for work one can feel the aging drain
Halloween today is not just for kids searching for a sugar high
Adults should also claim the night to celebrate days of old gone by
On the day after, remember true youth comes from within and if the eyes sparkle and the mind is quick and clear
Even without the aid of a Halloween costume that lasts only as long as it is worn, the aging process one should not fear.

Blue Lt. Governor's Past As Male Stripper--Focus On Issues!

Blue John Burkhalter is running in Arkansas for Lt.G
His past youth job brings new meaning to the goal of transparency
In his youth with an athletic build from working on a farm
Outgoing personality, good bod, probably lots of charm
But farming 17 acres on a place called Billy Goat Hill
Probably means that not a lot of dollars into the monthly till
He became an instant hit with Chippendales
A male stripper bringing excitement to the excited female
In this election in which personal attack is the norm
One hopes his Red foe does not hit him with a morality storm
And instead chose to focus on his record after his youthful strips
And his stand on issues during any debates and campaign trips
The human body is a work of art whether on canvas or on a stage
Especially when it is used to add to one’s farming wage

Ridley's Believe It Or Not October 30 History Mischief Night

Ridley's Believe It Or Not—October 30, 2014:  Trust your Halloween Eve  is proving to be a great one and as always hope you enjoy the holidays and observances, factoids and quote from H.G. Wells, with a smile on your sunscreened face, enjoying a slice of pumpkin bread with breakfast, blessed with a positive attitude even though you know you will have to wade through tons of spam in your inbox, and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for a memorable event or the coming Christmas, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient.
      1. Mischief Night—observed on the eve of Halloween as a great evening to practice your tricks before on Halloween giving the either/or ultimatum.
      2. International Orthopedic Nurses Day—honoring those angels of mercy assisting the doctors mending bones or replacing orthopedic parts during surgery and the first kind face one wakes up to after and looks to when the drugs wear off and the pain takes off like a rocket.
      3. One Person You Would Never Fire Day—honoring not those totally indispensable employees of an organization, but rather the birthday of Ivanka Trump born on this day in 1981.
      4. National Pumpkin Bread Day—celebrating a great use for the meat of the pumpkins you are carving to put out tonight—pumpkin bread.
On this day in
       a. 1938 Orson Welles broadcasted on the radio H.G. Wells War of the Worlds, causing panic that the U.S. was being invaded by Martians
       b. 1941 President Franklin Roosevelt approved $1 billion in Lend Lease aid to the Allied Nations to aid in the fight against the Germans and Italians.
       c. 1945 thanks to the foresight of Branch Rickey, Jackie Robinson of the Kansas City Monarchs signed a contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers, breaking the color barrier in baseball.
      d. 1974 the Rumble in the Jungle was fought between challenger Muhammad Ali and champion George Foreman in Kinshasa, Zaire for the Heavyweight Championship of the World. Ali regained his title by knockout.
Reflections on the similarity of struggle against a strange invading army with with different values in fiction published 116 years ago and the reality of the ISIS hordes seeking to destroy the non-Islamic world today: “At the time there was a strong feeling in the streets that the authorities were to blame for their incapacity to dispose of the invaders without all this inconvenience.” H.G. Wells, War War of the Worlds published in 1898

Netanyahu Is A Chickensh*t ???? Obama A Lame Duck!

Maybe in his formative years in Islamic lands Obama must have often heard
“Israel should be destroyed”--an idea that except for the jihadist is viewed by sane people as absurd
For someone whose agenda is governed not by policy but by politics,
Sometimes it is hard to understand what makes this President tick
The Jewish vote as a whole is not huge but it votes overwhelming Blue
Obama making comments on an open mike adverse to Bibi in six days he may well rue
The Jewish vote is realizing that Obama may have a strong barely concealed Anti-Israel bent
Come next Wednesday he and his Blue defeated senators may wonder where that Jewish support went
Israel’s foray into Gaza to root out the source of Hamas rocket rain
Was defended by this administration with support tepid and lame
Now we learn from the Atlantic from an unnamed administration source that Bibi is a chickensh*t
The ineptness of this administration’s when dealing in foreign policy never seems to quit
Putting his troops into the Gaza tunnels like our Vietnam era tunnel rats
And launching airstrike after airstrike into Gaza unlike our Iraq sorties few and far between like gnats
While hearing the voices and videos of outrage over the Palestinians deaths
Even by us, his ally, barely under our breaths
Describes not the acts or resolve of a chickensh*t
But rather a bold leader who in defense of his country will not quit
With remarks like these no wonder the world shakes their head in wonder
Our friends do not trust us and our foes know there will be no shock and awe only empty verbal thunder.
Susan Rice, the it’s a video queen, must have her head stuck deep into the sand
To assure us that the relationship with Israel after comments like these is peachy and grand.

Lesbian Houston Mayor Parker Folds--Cancels Subpoenas For Sermons

Why is it we have made so much progress in recognizing equal protection for lesbians and gays?
Yet an openly lesbian mayor in Houston wants to the First Amendment slay?
Targeting the sermons of pastors in Houston churches who object to transgender men going through a female’s restroom door?
Pure intimidation of churches and an attempt to the First Amendment ignore.
Finally this mayor Parker has come to her senses and five subpoenas have been withdrawn
Not from a light bulb of violation of First Amendment in her head finally going on
No from outrage by the public that has made her a laughing stock and a pathetic poster child
Of a lack of common sense on bathroom use and lesbian intolerance run wild
Madam Mayor Parker I am sure Houston has typical problems of crime, poor schools, parking, pot holes and need to pick up the trash
Concentrate on those instead of churches to in violation of church and state try to bash
While you are at those noble and much likely needed tasks
“Mr. City Attorney have you ever read the Constitution” you might ask

Investigator Of Secret Service Prostitute Use, Resigns Over His Own

We often complain that federal bureaucrats are never hard at work
Never efficient as not enough to do; so speed they always shirk
Sleeves never rolled up to quickly complete a task
Better to on a convention junket and in a hot tub bask
Never get down to the nitty gritty and get a job done
Better to hire more staff, to delegate; so actual work they can shun
So said, the news about the Secret Service scandal in Columbia was bitter news to share
But the desire of the IG to thoroughly investigate in this Administration seemed rare
The IG investigating prostitutes was soon caught doing some field work with some ladies of night
You really can’t blame an IG for wanting to get deep into his investigation, to get it completely right
Caught entering into a building investigated by the police for prostitution and paying a prostitute for sex
David Nieland’s only choice was to resign, an act he did elect
From federal bureaucrats watching hours on the job of porn
To Secret Service agents cavorting with ladies of the night-- their moral code shattered and torn
What is also troubling is that Nieland was instructed by DHS to delay and alter his report
To take the embarrassment bullet to the administration that would cause Obama’s reelection to fall short
Since our President has too many Pinocchio’s; no wonder his minions seem guilty of moral decline
Some small satisfaction that as a result of his roll in the Miami hay, Nieland did not hang on but resigned

Ridley's Believe It Or Not October 29 History International Internet Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not—October 29, 2014:  Trust your Wednesday  is proving to be a great one and as always hope you enjoy the holidays and observances, factoids and quote from the Dan Quayle, with a smile on your sunscreened face, enjoying a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast, blessed with a positive attitude even though you know you will have to wade through tons of spam in your inbox, and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for a memorable event or the coming Christmas, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient.
      1. International Internet Day—observed since 2005 to commemorate the first transmission of an electronic message from one computer to another in 1969. Where would we be without the internet today?
      2. World Psoriasis Day—creating awareness and the need for research for a disease that affects over 125 million people around the world leaving huge flakes of skin and in some cases painful arthritis.
      3. National Cat Day—honoring those independent felines whose unclean litter box or the sound of them chewing on bird or mouse caught outside at night but brought into your bedroom will drive most people into the street.
      4. National Oatmeal Day—celebrating whether instant or slow cooked that great breakfast dish especially honey and raisins to warm the insides of your belly on a cold fall morning.
       5. Truth or Consequences Day—bemoaning the birthday on this day in 1897 of Joseph Goebbels the Nazi Propaganda Minister who along with his wife after killing all of his children beat the hangman in the Fuhrer Bunker in the closing days of WWII by committing suicide. On this day in
       a. 1863 18 countries meet in Geneva, Switzerland to form the International Red Cross.
       b. 1956 the Suez Crisis begins as Israel pushes Egyptian forces out of the Sinai enroute to the Suez Canal which according to the Constantinople Convention guaranteed free maritime passage in time of war and peace.
       c. 1994 Francisco Martin Duran fired 29 shots from an assault rifle at the White House and was convicted of attempting to murder President Clinton and sentenced to 40 years in federal prison and is projected to be released in 2029.
Reflections on the International Internet Day: “If Al Gore invented the internet, I invented Spell Check” Dan Quayle former vice president of the United States and an atrocious speller and grammarian, here with a sense of humor.

100 Acts Of Sexual Harassment In 10 Miles In The Big Apple

We know there is War on Women in the Sharia feudal lands
Where it becomes violent with honor killings and stonings out of hand
We know the Blues’ charges of a Red War on Women is a myth to gain votes
Distract from the issues forcing Reds to defend themselves and time from issues to devote
But this poet who grew up in Alaska where good women are rare as heirloom jewels
Witnessed on a hidden video acts of harassment sexist and cruel
A woman actress aged 24 dressed in conservative black
Walking down the street in New York in daylight harassed by innuendos of losers wanting to get her into the sack
Not just once but a hundred times in 10 miles
Just walking, eyes straight ahead, no flirts, no winks, no smiles
How can you show a woman respect when she is subject to sexual verbal abuse?
When the bounds of decency and restraint are untied and sexism is set loose
100 men, almost all losers to their very core
Dumb enough or desperate enough to think any woman as to this behavior would want more
All on tape; hope it goes viral on UTube
Any women thinking of going out could memorize the faces of these rubes
The first steps to domestic violence or spousal abuse are the verbal words
Enough, time to end this non real men behavior which is absurd
My guess is a big majority of these losers were celibate or had to pay for sex
Maybe explains but does not justify their repeated harassment reflex

Finally Obama Hits The Campaign; Blues From Him Still Bail

This election with one week to go will turn into spending slugfests
With millions of dollars raised in very close contests
Attack ads will crowd out any discussion of issues only blame
Biden already warning a Senate flip will put us 6 years behind the lean forward game
The work permits are being printed waiting only for an executive order stroke
Amnesty for most any chance to repair the system totally broke
Finally in a panic Blue control of the Senate will fail
Our President will hit the campaign trail
Our Ebola czar must be hiding in a Hazmat suit
Our states are starting to ignore the CDC as demands for quarantine take root
Finally at the DHS the light bulbs are starting to come on
A realization that we are really in the jihadists’ dawn
The Reds even if they take control will not be able to bring issues to the floor
Reid and his minions will filibuster to keep acts from heading to the House doors
Even if by some quirk of  lucky fate
A filibuster will not keep opened ended any debate
Obama will be free to veto regardless of the cost
Another two years of potential compromise lost
Washington remains dysfunctional and the queen waiting to reign
With comments like dead broke or corporations don’t create jobs another 4 years on the partisanship rancor train
If perchance God help us we do not know the results on election night
And the control of the Senate is a seat or two, buy political ads creators’ stock as even more millions will pour into the fight.
While the fundraising in chief when it comes to leadership is again MIA
And we mere mortals making a living wonder how to get through another gridlocked day.

Stonewalled Ms. Attkisson's Computer Hacked By Whom?

There was a time when Uncle Walter anchored the news at CBS
A man who may have had liberal bias but when it came to the news he met the fair and balanced test
A man of integrity and objectivity such that following Tet
He announced the War was unwinnable; a moment in history hard to forget
The CBS today like ABC, NBC and CNN would have Cronkite walking out its doors
So far from the news organization of times past  fame and lore
The news reported where else but on Fox
Of a former CBS reporter’s computer hacked should rightfully all of us shock
In Watergate it was a man of integrity serving in the FBI known as Deep Throat
William Felt spilled the beans and caused the sinking of Nixon’s CREEP reelection boat
Today in Ms. Attkisson’s case the whistle blower is known as Big Mac
Who informed her at McDonalds  she had been subject to a massive computer hack
Files deleted, computer taken over under a massive cyber attack
Files on scandals of this Administration were deleted before her very eyes
If this was part of the DONJ attack on a minority of the press attacking Obama, wave this democracy goodbye
It takes brave men and women of a truly free and independent press
To stand up to the feds and their corruption and illegality try to suppress
The DONJ in a statement similar to the no IRS corruption, not even a smidgeon
Denied any knowledge of the hacks and cover-up but  do not know the identity of the Big Mac pigeon
Whom should we believe? The DONJ charged to always protect Obama’s back?
That agency misnamed the DOJ though transparency and justice it completely lacks
Or the smoking gun of computers gutted to their very detrimental to Obama core?
Certainly Ms. Attkisson is not doing this to sell more of her new book in Barnes and Noble’s stores.
Make no mistake, in a war by this Administration on any member of  the press
Even the lap dogs at MSNBC or CBS must also try to suppress!
In an acronym world the meaning of DONJ should be easy to guess
Department of Non Justice always seeking to any investigation of this Administration repress  © October 28, 2014 Michael P. Ridley aka the Alaskanpoet

Keene, N.H. Not Kean On Robin Hooders

The spirit of Robin Hood in Keene N.H. is alive and well
Armed with pockets of quarters to save motorists from parking hell
Robin Hooders following parking attendants to fines deflect
Quarters into expired meters to a parking ticket reject
As one might imagine the city is not pleased
As lost revenue from tickets is effectively seized
No one likes a parking ticket and spaces are often few and far between
When it comes to revenue a city’s thirst is hard to wean
The tickets are only five dollars to pay
The laws as citizens we all should obey
But as long as the Hooders do not interfere or block
Let’s encourage their acts helping saving motorists  from ticket shock
