Make A Wish Blue Origin Style--82 Year Old Wally Funk Into Space At Last P

There is a truism present in almost any sport
That the time to be the sole record holder is usually short
As athletes become taller, stronger, faster and better and longer trained
From tying or breaking a record it is so hard to their breaking efforts to restrain
There exceptions to this rule but somewhat rare to take away a record holder’s fame
Like Di Maggio’s consecutive hits record or Riken’s number of consecutive starting games
Records in all aspects of life are meant to at some time to be replace
Both here on Earth and even in to outer space
Space travel because of the G forces at liftoff is not for the old even if young at heart
The G-forces are like an elephant sitting on one’s chest with great stress as a rocket from Earth with increasing thrust departs
The first American to orbit the Earth for three orbits  on February 20, 1962 was John Glenn
On October 29, 1998 this time for 9 days on a Shuttle at age 77, he went into space again
First American never to be broken and oldest human in space, a record that should withstand the test of time
Even with the new mantra that 70 is the new 50 hard to believe someone over 77 would into a space capsule climb
That is until today when the youngest member of the Mercury 13 Team
Created by NASA to test the concept of Women In Space Dream
Wally Funk passed all the astronaut tests
In some even John Glens effort she would best
Program cancelled and women had to remain earth bound until Sally Ride
But today an 82 year old Wally Funk was at Bezos’ side
The dream of going into space this woman never let die
Thousands of hours in the air teaching some 3000 pilots how to fly
Today our hats are Wally Funk as the record of oldest person in space she did break
Another example proving that in not so distant past preventing women from competing was a big mistake
And to Jeff Bezos, the world’s richest man, a big hand
Allowing a dream to be fulfilled is great feat and really grand
