August 15, 2021 Ridley's Believe It Or Not National Failures Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not August 15, 2021

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues on an increasing basis with cases now over 207 million at  207,830,053 cases (207,346,282 yesterday); 17,177,967 of which are active, 190,752,086  closed with 186,378,438 recoveries (97.71% and 97.71% yesterday, and 4,373,648 deaths (2.29% and 2.29% yesterday) to continue the slow trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages with some plateaus, dips, and rises.
CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 37 million at 37,465,037 (37,367,643 yesterday)  with 6,674,004 active cases of which 20,500 are serious or critical, (17,500 yesterday and 8,599 on 3/25/2021) (now on a serious upswing due to Delta virus up to .307 % of active cases and now a steady increase in the number of serious or critical cases to decrease the reduction from the 29,271 peak on 12/31/2020 to 8,771, 30,791,033 closed, with 637,555 deaths (2.07% and 2.07% yesterday) and with 30,153,478 recoveries (97.93% and 97.93% yesterday). Our death rate percentage is no longer stuck at 2.08% since July 12, 2021 and now .22% lower than the world’s death rate.
Standing: On a deaths per million population measure on a steady   but slow climb to 1914 the U.S. ranks behind Peru (5893) the new number 1 which has had a quantum leap in deaths previously unmatched which was a change in the classification to give Peru the a new method of reporting to have a fatality rate of 9.26% of total cases now; Hungary the new number 2 has had a huge continuing surge in deaths with the increase now slowing down and improving slightly to  3.77% of its closed cases have died (3118), aping Hungary in terms of increase in deaths Bulgaria (2662),   Brazil (2651) which has been hit with a rapid rise in deaths and cases and passed us and Italy, Columbia newly added to the list  (2396),  Argentina (2386), Belgium (2171), Italy (2128), Poland (1992), and the UK (1918) which had passed us despite leading world in testing and now has new deaths barely increasing),  and slightly better than Mexico (1902), Chile (1885), Romania (1799), Ecuador newly added to list (1776), Spain (1763), Portugal (1728), France (1722), Bolivia (1532),  Sweden (1438) that never closed its economy down like we did, and Switzerland (1252).

Tests: We have now conducted 555,423,035 tests (1,667,073/M) just passed by France at 1,708,163 who is now 1st  on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark, Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains as king of the mountain with respect to tests at 3,740,491/M.
CV Open Gate: Lost in the pronouncements by Biden and his lackeys  that there is no crisis of illegals surging across the border is that fact that COVID-19 is alive and well and spreading in the Northern Triangle and Mexico which has been passed by Argentina and newly added Columbia to move down to 12
th  on my list of deaths from the pandemic  at 1902/M with a fatality rate of 9.30% of closed cases and the 3 countries in the Northern Triangle in terms of active cases and deaths per million are as follows even though the data may be suspect as underreported (regardless of number we need no more cases):
                     Guatemala:  Active Cases:  42,521 Deaths/M 610
                     Honduras:    Active Cases: 203,766 Deaths/M 831
                     El Salvador:  Active cases:     9,572 Deaths/M 428
US Vaccinations: As of 8/14/2021 355.8 million doses, up from .716 million per day to .738 million per day (down to 6 months to go for 75% of population vaccinated) and in California 86,593  per day (87,091 yesterday) which means if the rate does not increase it will take us still some 4 months to have 75% of the population of California vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity (other than Flip Flop Fauci who may believe that 90% is required).  In California 46,378,183 total doses have been given (88.2% of doses received to exceed the U.S. average of 85.7%), but even with the pressure of a recall to be scheduled this fall which hopefully end Newsom’s term, California has  moved down from 16th to 17th  of the 50 states in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states and at 54.1% of its population fully vaccinated compared to the U.S. average of 50.6% has moved up  from 18th  to 17th   among the 50 states.  A long way to go still to get herd immunity in terms of getting vaccines received into arms and the percentage of the population fully vaccinated compared to other states which means a great reason to recall this inept and hypocritical governor.
Non  CV News: Biden is back at Camp David in conference room all by his lonesome taking notes on this viral meeting with his security advisers as the Embassy in Kabul was closed and the city in the hands of the Taliban who now occupy the Presidential Palace with a lot of anxiety existing among Americans still in the country waiting for evacuation and real fear and anxiety among the thousands of interpreters and translators that worked for the U.S. who now fear for their lives since the Biden Administration lulled into a false and foolish sense of security over the ability of the Afghan Armed Forces to delay the Taliban’s conquering of the nation (our border is open to every bogus refugee due to his or her economic status which sucks but not grounds for refugee states and people who risked their lives for us were put in line for a visa and still stuck there); in yet another example of censorship gone wild, Twitter still bans Trump but allows Taliban spokespersons to tweet away to their terrorist hearts’ content;  Biden’s prior claims that “America’s back” have fallen on reality’s deaf ears as the only back in play is ours fleeing from Afghanistan, as allies are lining up to rightfully blame Biden for the catastrophe; as the Taliban emptied the jails in Kabul to free 5000 prisoners, many of whom were Al Qaeda fighters, and has acquired the candy store of all candy stores in terms of weapons left with the crumbled Afghan Army, warnings as we approach 9/11 that were are facing a repeat as TSA’s “Red Squad”, which tries to smuggle through the TSA checkpoints to test TSA’s alertness is succeeding at an alarming and increasing rate as more and more passengers are coming back; the Governor in waiting Kathy Hochul has assured us she will cooperated fully with a probe of nursing home deaths caused by Cuomo’s death sentences of sending CV infected patients to nursing homes but like so many leftist Blues vows her priority will be to get COVID relief money to landlords and illegals (oblivious to the idea that charity begins at home first); in a déjà vu reminder of corruption, the icon of virtue, Blue Ted Lieu  in four donations from his campaign funds donated $50,000 to his alma mater Stanford between 2016 and 2018 raising questions whether his son’s admission to the Stanford Class of 2025 was influenced by such donations; inflation soaring under Biden is the hidden tax but also the axe to pare rising cost of benefits as the Biden Administration announced aa $36 increase in food stamps from current $136 levels; as Woke like a quickly spreading cancer metastasizes in more and more areas of our daily lives, look to the political cartoonist to reveal the inanity of playing Woke word games:

Chicago Gun Violence: Hey Jackass.com is alive and well to collect data to show that through August 14, 2021, gun violence involving mostly persons of color shooting mostly persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 2838 persons shot of whom 485 have died.

              1.  National Failures Day—created by Jack Gilbert in 1983 to urge people to examine their failures, learn from them and then use the experience to improve; sadly to be able to take advantage of the day you have to have the ability to admit one’s error which for people like Andrew Cuomo make the day a hard or almost impossible observance to observe.
              2.  National Check the Chip Day—created the American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association to encourage pet owners to implant microchips in their pets to aid in their recovery if lost or stolen.
              3. 1988 Number 1 Song USA—the number 1 song in 1988 on this day was “Roll With It” by Steve Winwood for 4 weeks in that position to join 31 other songs that achieved number 1 status as 17 acts achieved their first number 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100. Here is a music video of “Roll With It” by Steve Winwood:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_vkKozA8OI Winwood is an English singer associated with many successful act in the 60’ and 70’s and then a successful career in the 80’s with a slew of hit singles which he ceased doing as the 80’s ended and he continued to release albums the last of which was in 2008. He still performs on tour with other classic rock groups.
              4.  Word of the Day—the word of the day is “scullion” which is a mean, contemptible person which describes most Squad members to a tee.
              5.  Mad Max—bemoaning the birth on this day in 1938 of long time Blue hack politician who has been in the House for 31 years and best known for her call to get in the faces of Trump supporters and appointed officials and whose rhetoric may well have prejudiced the jury to be fearful of riots if they did not convict Chauvin for his murder of George Floyd.
              On this day in:

               e. 2013 The Smithsonian announced the discovery of the first new Western Hemisphere carnivore mammal in 35 years--the olinguito which sadly after discovery was classified as near threatened:

Reflections on Woodstock: “ The Boston Globe: The Woodstock Music and Art Festival will surely go down in history as a mass event of great and positive significance in the life of the country ... That this many young people could assemble so peaceably and with such good humor in a mile-square area ... speaks volumes about their dedication to the ideal of respect for the dignity of the individual ... In a nation beset with a crescendo of violence, this is a vibrantly hopeful sign. If violence is infectious, so, happily, is nonviolence.” Michael Lang, noted concert promoter and the co-creator of The Woodstock Music and Art Festival
