UConn Beats Stanford to Go to the Finals in Women's March Madness

Tonight in the semifinal game against UConn Stanford was a deciduous tree
That had shed not only its leaves but also its threes
Even the easy free throws bounced to the ground
The repeat quest would be unwound
Not a blowout by any means close to the very end
But the Championship Games the Hoop gods will UConn send
Tonight Tara VanDerveer’s lead in games won was reduced to four
Stanford fans hope she is on the bench coaching at Maples when the Cardinal takes the floor
This poet like the fans hope next year she will be trying for a 4th NCAA Championship win
With threes not shed like tonight into the falling leaves’ bin
