Ridley's Believe It Or Not August 14 History Believe In Magic Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not—August 14, 2014:  Trust your day is proving to be a great one and that you enjoy the holidays of dubious distinction, along with the factoids and quote from Erma Brombeck with a smile on your face, a positive attitude and a fresh not melting creamsicle in your hand.
,          1. Pramuka Day--celebrating the founding of Scouting in Indonesia in 1912 with today over 17 million youth in the scouting movement.
           2. National Navaho Codetalkers Day—celebrating the unbelievable efforts of the Navaho code talkers in World War II and immortalized in Nicholas Cages starring role in Windtalkers.
           3. National Creamsicle Day---celebrating another great summer treat.
           4. Believe In Magic Day--celebrating the birthday on this day in 1959 of one of the iconic figures in professional basketball, Magic Johnson…Donald Sterling eat your heart out..
           5. King Tut Day—celebrating not the mummy of the same name but rather the birthday on this day in 1945 one of the iconic comedians of all time on par with Robin Williams—Steve Martin..
On this day in
             a. 1935 Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act of 1935 into law.
             b. 1945 Japan accepted the terms of surrender from the Allies thereby bringing World War II to an end.
             c. 1975 The Rocky Horror Show the longest running film in American history opened at a theater in Westwood, California.
Humor is always a good way to discuss and solve major issues; sadly we have very little of it left in Washington today: “I was too old for a paper route, too young for Social Security and too tired to have an affair.” Erma Brombeck, noted comedian and columnist
