There is a classic line in the movie Tora Tora where Yamamoto ruefully proclaims That the attack on Pearl Harbor would awaken a sleeping giant Japan could not contain For years the teachers unions have been for the Blues a major funding source While school test scores in public schools were on a failing downward course Parents were troubled their child had trouble reading, writing and in math But for many home schooling was not possible nor private schools an affordable path While the power and influence of the teachers unions grew But when the COVID-19 Pandemic hit they bit off more power than they could chew Randi Weingarten the head of the AFT was the poster child to shut down public schools Arguing to keep children and staff safe in K-12 they could educate with remote learning tools Parents who worked had to find almost nonexistent care or quit their jobs Staying at home to watch younger kids struggle with remote and see educational improvement be robbed In many states the shutdown of schools only to those public applied How Newsom could send his kids to private schools that to most of his voters were denied With their new found power and Blue political friends Next step was to buy into the CRT and gender affirming trend When at school board meetings the parents tired of their kids being labeled oppressors Of all black victims who were or were not of plantation slaves surviving successors Demanded that CRT teaching come to an end School boards wanted parents labeled as domestic terrorists and would not bend Transgender bathrooms and lockers became the norm Teachers tried to hide from parents their child’s feelings to their gender transform Finally the backlash that is now a tidal wave To our children from the lousy education of the public schools save Arkansas has become the 5 state for universal school choice Making sure parents not the Blue puppets teachers’ unions have the controlling voice If Weingarten wants to preserve the number of members it would be wise To stop fighting tooth and nail charter schools or watch her union’s shrinkage and demise © 3/8/2023 Michael P.
