Iditarod March 9 3 days, 21 hours and 19 minutes into the race. Wade Mars is still in first place and was the first musher into Iditarod with its balmy 18 degree weather, 566 miles out of Nome with 18 mushers behind out of Ophir. Edie Burk in 8th place is the fastest male rookie and Jessie Royer in 17th place is the fastest female closely followed 54 minutes behind by the fastest female rookie Katti Jo Deeter in 18th place, 54 minutes behind. The Berington twins Anna and Kristy are in 22nd and 23rd place in near tandem positions as always 3 minutes apart out of Takotna, 669 miles from Nome. In the race for the Golden Lantern rookie Greg Vitello is in McGrath, 687 miles from Nome and a balmy 25 degrees with his rookie son Bailey 11 hours 22 minutes behind in 29th place. More updates later but it looks like Marrs with his early lead is a favorite.
