For those who equate affirmative action with an assault on
meritocracy
To condemn a society to the disastrous effect of mediocracy
The entry on the Red side to the presidential races in 2024
Of Vivek Ramaswamy will finally mean hiring the best and brightest to restore
Around the world we are in an economic race
Where in order to secure at least a top 5 place
The best and the brightest have to lead the fight
Such that the U.S. that shining light on the hill does not fade into the night
Ramaswamy has said he would end affirmative action on the first day
A great slogan but what if the factors for failure in an inner city were in a
child’s way?
If all kids were able attend school with the same qualities
of teachers, home life and equipment
Affirmative Action would be an issue that to the trash can would have long ago
been sent
But poverty stricken kids black, brown and even white are left at life’s race
at the starting gate
How you sort out the handicaps other to race only you equate?
Is a task that we must try to solve
So inner city kids of color have a chance to into best and brightest evolve
Hate to ape Bill Clinton but rather than it quit
“Don’t end it but mend it”
