Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber who terrorized the nation for 2
decades has died
From one of the largest FBI task force and most expensive frustrating to agents
managed to hide
In the course of 17 years he planted increasingly more
sophisticated bombs with ingredients impossible to trace
17 bombs planted, 2 defused and 15 exploded often right in the victim’s
unsuspecting face
3 victims died and 23 were injured with a few for life
maimed
Yet the FBI had no DNA, no descriptions, no fingerprints, nowhere near any
probable names
After each bombing he would return to his primitive cabin in Montana off the
grid
Hoping his bombings would from society the problem of encroaching technology
rid
Since the Unabomber was planting his bombs to warn society
of technology’s increasing threat to them
He prepared and sent a 35,000 word essay on the subject to
WAPO vowing if it published his bombings he would stem
The FBI proposed publication in the hopes that someone
reading the essay
Might have some thoughts on its author by the words, syntax or grammar on
display
In publishing the essay, they hit the mother lode
The Unabomber’s brother Dave thought it was brother Ted Kaczynski living in his
primitive Montana abode
The FBI quickly moved to arrest the Unabomber now with a name
Whose court appointed lawyers wanted him to plead he was insane
He tried to dismiss his lawyers and failed and on the next day tried and failed
to commit suicide
To then escape the death penalty he pled guilty and a Colorado SuperMax he went
to reside
Not a pleasant place locked in a cell for 23 hours a day
Food through a slot, contact with guards and other inmates remote and away
In December of 2021 for medical reasons not disclosed he was
sent to a Federal Medical Center
Where early guards found him dead when early Saturday
morning they went to enter
No cause of death as of yet but believed to be suicide
Maybe aping his father suffering terminal lung cancer who shot himself and died
