Iditarod Standings on March 9, 2022 16:02 Brent Sass, who has won the 1000 mile Yukon Quest 3 times but never an Iditarod is in the lead as the first musher into Cripple, 550 miles away from Nome while the checkpoint Ophir 623 miles away from Nome has had Dallas Seavey, Ryan Redington, Mitch Seavey and Hugh Neff  enter and leave while 11 mushers are still there resting, including 5 women mushers Mille Porsild (7), Paige Drobney (9) Michelle Phillips (10), Kristi Berington (15) and Anna Berington (16).  21 mushers are in McGrath, 664 miles away from Nome, including the leading female rookie, Hanna Hyrek (25) who has a 33 minute lead over the leading male rookie Martin Marissotte.  Kailyn Davis in the lead for the last place Red Lantern Trophy as the last place finisher has left Rohn. Each day the distance between the leaders and the followers increases and the mushers are less likely to see any living creature other than their dogs until they reach a checkpoint. At least it appears that no one has had to drop out yet. More updates to come later!
