From 776 B.C.E. to 393 C.E. in Olympia in Southern Greece a
Festival the Olympic Games was held to honor Zeus
Marked by athletic contests, feasts and most importantly during
the Festival and travel to and from no wars only a time for truce
Instead of medals, winners of athletic contests were with
wreaths crowned
Received monetary rewards and free meals for life to bring their
City-States great renown
Finally the Olympic Games came to an end when Roman Emperor Theodosius,
a Christian, banned them as being pagan celebrations
Which merited despite their goals his condemnation
The Olympic Games were
resurrected in Athens in 1896 to promote
peace through the Olympic Movement's focus on unity, cultural acceptance, and
the Olympic Truce
The lofty goals were in
1956 Russian Hungarian water polo game, the Munich Games Massacre and today in
a match between Tajikistan judoka Nurali Emomali and his
Israeli victor Emomali yelled “Allah Akbar” and refusing to shake the Israeli’s
hand to abuse
If there is a
place for bad Karma at the these games
In his next
match Emomali’s shoulder was dislocated causing him great pain
Politics should
have no place in the games and why Hitler’s 1936 Berlin Olympics merited such
shame
Shot down by 4
Gold Medals won by Jessie Owens who gained everlasting fame
