Ridley's Believe It Or Not July28 History World Hepatitis Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not—July 28, 2014:  Another meager day of holidays but you are probably on vacation anyway and do not need the time off. Hope you enjoy what is posted, along with the factoids and quote from Billy Graham with a smile on your face and candy bar in your hand.
           1. World Hepatitis Day —created to create awareness and seek prevention of a disease that takes over a million lives each year.
           2. Day of Commemoration of the Great Upheaval (Canada)—commemorating the expulsion of the Acadians from Canada.
           3. Buffalo Soldiers Day—celebrated by act of Congress the formation on this day in 1866 of the first African American cavalry regiment.
           4. National Milk Chocolate Day—what better way to get an energy boost than a milk chocolate candy bar.
On this day in:
           a. 1932 President Herbert Hoover ordered the U.S. Army to evict the “Bonus Army” camped out on the Washington Mall—not one of our better moments of appreciation to our Vets of World War I.
           b. 1945 a B-25 in the fog crashed into the 75th floor of the Empire State Building, killing 14 and injuring 26. The building survived.
           c. 1973 nearly 600,000 fans attended a rock concert at Watkins International Raceway in New York.
The cleansing of the maritime provinces of Canada by the English of the Acadians sadly still lives on in many countries of the world today, especially in Iraq where Christians are being put to the sword: “I think it is a sin to look at another person as inferior to yourself because of race or because of ethnic background, and I think the greatest thing to do is to pray that God will give you love for them, and I do.” Billy Graham Amen!
