Portland for many years due to its rose garden was as the
City of Roses known
Prior to 2020 a pleasant place to live and for 15 consecutive
years its population had grown
In 2020 the city was hit with the pandemic and the Perfect Storm
Where surging crime, homelessness and safety concerns became the new norm
In the first year of the pandemic 2020 the steady growth
came to an end
|Residents along with their income started leaving became the
new trend
Homicides in Portland increasing at record rates
Small businesses cannot survive with not enough cops to the
crime wave abate
Homelessness continues to soar up 50 %
With open spaces looking like Hoovervilles where migrants from the Dust Bowl went
Portland stands in 6th place in terms of
population lost
At least a billion dollars of income from fleeing residents the cost
Portland as the City of Roses may still be known
But roses now used for the wreaths at the city’s funeral to
bemoan
As residents flee each year escaping the growing grief
And with liberal governor and mayor no way to turn over a
new leaf
