Another day another mob to smash and
grab
Then fleeing with 1000’s of dollars of goods before cops arrive to nab
This time the target was Nordstrom’s
in Canoga Park
Stripping the shelves and display cases of goods with higher prices marked
No security guards present armed to
stop the mobs from stealing
Once again law and order by a mob
set reeling
These were not desperate people
needing money to eat
Or find shelter and clothing more likely than not drugs and booze as treats
Luxury goods in search of a fence to
sell at discount or online
Another example of anarchy the
brazen acts define
Any clerk foolish enough to stand up
to the pillaging throng
Would be run over and then by her boss told she was in the wrong
Not wanting higher workers’ comp
insurance rates to pay
Might even be told “sorry but this is your last day”
If steel bars in the event of a
smash and grab attack
Came swiftly down to the escaping
mob stop in their tracks
To allow cops to arrive and arrest
on the spot and transport to jail
The mobs might think long and hard
before another smash and grab mob a store assails
The $900 felony hurdle must be
reduced and the hurdle sum computed by adding all the mob was able to steal
And D.A.’s like Gascon must be
urging stiff sentences and courts with longer sentences must deal
The real victims are the rest of the
law abiding public already suffering from inflation price hikes
To now face even higher prices due
to the smash and grab mobs’ increasing strikes
