Hurrican Idalia Makes Landfall This Morning As a CAT 3 Hurricane With 125 m.p.h Winds and Storm Surges Up To 16 Feet

In naming Hurricanes the weather forecasters just move down the alphabet
Idalia was picked for the first hurricane of the season to win the most misnamed bet
From the Greek the name means “look toward the Sun”
No longer to be seen in the Sunshine State as the torrential rains and storm surge have begun
Making landfall in Florida’s sparsely populated area known as the Big Bend
First time ever to that area would the weather gods a CAT 3 Hurricane send
Winds gusting at 125 miles per hour
250,000 and climbing now without  power
With the Blue Moon’s pull and winds’ push the storm surge as high as 16 feet
Severe flooding in the path of the surge will many homes meet
In a parting shot to show De Santis that against nature he is not the boss
A tree near the Governor’s Mansion was blown over but no lives lost
The evacuation orders issued by De Santis have been heeded to a tee
So far only 2 Idalia related deaths are there for us to see
