August 28, 2023 Ridley' Believe It Or Not

On the Medical front, the CDC has just alerted us to a new  health problems that is spreading in Virginia commonly known as the “tik bite meat allergy” where the lone star tick which is prevalent in the Commonwealth and transmits a sugar molecule Alpha-gal from its saliva when biting a person which will cause severe allergic reactions even death when a person eats meats high in fat like pork, beef, venison, lamb or rabbit or consumes products made from mammals like some protein powders, gelatin and dairy products. Bad news for those human carnivores that love a juicy steak but a great slogan to promote the vegan lifestyle—“Go Vegan to avoid AGS and its allergic reactions causing great bodily distress.
On the election obstruction front, D.C. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan, an Obama appointee who had a proclivity for sentencing 1/6 defendants to prison terms often exceeding the terms sought by the DOJ or imposing jail when probation was suggested, over strenuous objections of Trump’s lawyers has set a trial date of March 6, 2024 which with its 4-6 week estimated length will severely adversely affect Trump’s ability to campaign. Sadly what we are seeing in America is a rush to judgment that was motivated by the fact that Trump announced he would be a candidate—a stain on this election.
On the L.A. homeless front, hotel workers represented by Unite Here Local Union 11 are on strike and the union is pushing its plan to require hotels and motels to house the homeless ignoring the fact the Los Angeles City Council rejected a proposal requiring hotels and motels to provide lists by 2:00 P.M. of vacant rooms so they can be rented to homeless with vouchers. The Center for Union facts has launched an ad campaign pushing against the plan, rightfully claiming it exposes both guests and workers to increased risks in dealing with mental illness, drug use, sanitary and criminal activity issues.
On the weather front Tropical Storm Idalia, 50 miles west of Cuba is gathering strength and is projected to be upgraded to a CAT 1 Hurricane Monday evening and when it makes landfall projected north of Tampa it will be a CAT 3 bring with it a storm surge of 11 feet, prompting Governor De Santis to increase the state of emergency declaration from 33 counties to 46 and to order mandatory evacuations of low-lying areas in 5 counties  with a decision on evacuating  parts of Tampa expected soon. Tampa’s airport will be closed to all incoming and outgoing flights early Tuesday morning.
On the crime front at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the campus was locked down for hours after report of a shooting; a faculty member was discovered to have been killed and an as of yet suspect has been taken into custody and the lockdown ended. In Chicago Lori Lightfoot clone Brandon Johnson is receiving a lot of flak for his law suits against KIA and Hyundai for the car crimes committed in Chicago due to a lack of proper anti-theft devices on the cars made by them. A judge has ruled that the father who signed an application for his then minor son in December of 2019 to obtain a FOID so he could legally own a firearm and is being charged with 7 counts of reckless conduct since his now adult son shot and killed 7 people on July 4, 2022 in Highland Park, Illinois.
On the sports front, Luis Rubiales the president of the Spanish FIFA has refused to resign for planting an unwanted  kiss on the lips of Jenni Hermoso on the podium and grabbing his crotch in the stands near children and has been blasted by the coach for his antics placing a cloud on the Spanish women’s first World Cup Championship. Rubiales still has the support of his mother who has announced a hunger strike until the calls for resignation cease.
On the entertainment front 76 year old Elton John fell in his home in France to be taken to the hospital as a precaution and then soon released. Dolly Parton in London promoting her new album had to turn down an invitation from Kate Middleton for tea because of promotion commitments.
Finally on the Woke front, after receiving  the “Breakout Creator" award at The 2023 Streamy Awards, Dylan Mulvaney slammed Bud Light for not supporting her and those boycotting Bud Light as transphobics spewing hate. In Feces City California Reems, an Arab bakery, refuses to serve police officers in uniform armed with guns which they are required to carry when on duty (it’s a shame the SFPD Union cannot post on social media the message they do not respond to 911 calls from this Woke establishment.

Noted Holidays: Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day: Created this day in 2015 by Deborah Barnes, the author of Purr Prints of the Heart: A Cat's Tale of Life, Death, and Beyond, a story of her loss on this day in 2013 of her pet cat Mr. Jazz through his eyes to help pet owners deal with the loss of a loved pet.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Word of the Day: The word of the day is “athetesis” which means rejecting a passage because it is spurious which describes the proper response to a large amount of the social media hype and claims from the left.
Song of the Day: The number 1 song on this day in 2003 was  “Crazy in Love” by Beyoncé and Jay-Z on  run of 8  weeks to share number 1 status with 10 other songs achieving number 1 ranking while 10 acts, including Beyoncé achieved  number one status for the first time. Here is a music video with lyrics of Beyoncé and Jay-Z performing “Crazy in Love”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViwtNLUqkMY

Quote on the March on Washington by  Sam Fulwood III, a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress and Director of the CAP Leadership: Before the celebrations begin, complete with recitations of and debates over the various layers of meaning to King’s colorblind dream, we might do well to review the real and full story behind the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. An accurate understanding of what those brave marchers demanded a half-century ago can only lead to the conclusion that their work remains incomplete and should inspire every American to continue their journey to move this nation closer to fairness and equality for all.
