Ridley’s Believe It Or Not January 21, 2021
CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the
planet continues the new year with surging cases now over 96 million at 97,856,859
with 1,208,427 new cases (a 1.25% yesterday) 25,607,164 of which are
active, 72,252,692 closed with 70,159,111 recoveries (97.10% and 97.10%
yesterday) and 2,093,581, deaths (2.90% and 2.90% yesterday) to continue the
trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and
decreased death percentages with some plateaus.
CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 25 million at 25,100,750 with 101,775 new
cases (a .41%% increase) with 9,673,603
active cases of which 28,156 (.29% of active cases and a decrease now of 1,115
from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in serious or critical condition
15,427,147 closures, 418,056 of which have been deaths (2.71% and
2.70% yesterday) and 14,968,716 of which have been recoveries (97.29% and
97.30% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to improve and after
many months is now .19% lower than the world rate and .10% lower than Canada
which has the socialized type medicine Biden may well want to implement
here and on a deaths per million population measurement on a steady
climb to 1259 ranks behind Belgium (1771), Italy (1394), and UK (1389)
which had passed us despite leading world in testing), and only slightly worse
than Bulgaria (1250), Hungary (1214), Peru (1179) Spain (1177), Mexico (1113),
France (1102), Sweden (1078) that never closed its economy down like we
did but has recently been experiencing a rapid rise in deaths, Switzerland (1029),
Argentina (1017), Brazil (999), Chile (916), Bolivia (830) and Ecuador (811)
and we have now conducted 292,753,706 tests (now at 881,570/M compared to
Russia at 671,374/M so Trump was telling truth that we conduct more tests in
number and on a per capital basis for nations (other than those nations that
contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark, Israel, Malta,
Singapore and UAE) but for the U.K. which remains off the testing charts with
tests at 977,405/M. In the U.S. as of 1/20/2021 17.2 doses have been given,
912,497 per day in the last week. In California 1.5 M total doses, 3.88/100 and
273 K with second dose but typical of Newsom’s ineptness, California ranks dead
last in the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses. A long
way to go to get herd immunity but a start.
Non CV Case News: Look like Antifa is jealous of all the outrage from the Blues and MSM that “white supremacists” are getting and produced mini riots in Portland and Seattle, against Biden, ICE and the police (sad but after day in and day out of ranting by Blues and MSM that Trump and his supporters are Nazis and white supremacists it is refreshing to see Antifa out rioting); the Unity President looks more and more like the “Yo-Yo” President as Biden was on a tear reversing Trump’s prior executive actions including in job killing and wage reduction acts, banning the Keystone Pipeline and stopping deportations for 100 days even of criminal illegal aliens and construction on the Wall without listening to the pleas of the CBP that it has been a highly effective force in preventing drugs, human trafficking and entry of illegal aliens; gushing with awe and praise over every second of the Inauguration, the stench from the Cack News Network was overwhelming even to the point of idiocy of claiming the fireworks display “would inspire our friends and shake our foes” (the only shaking from our foes would be from the laughter knowing that we have electing a weak leader whose mental capabilities are fading rapidly); in a when it rains it pours moment the Cack News Network was peddling from an anonymous source that the Trump Administration left with no distribution plan for Biden which even members of the MSM are calling CNN out for touting a false narrative; Buttigieg who couldn’t manage pot holes in South Bend and now will head the Department of Transportation is seeking a hike in the federal gas tax at a time when families have been devastated by the corona virus and the wealthy are rapidly moving to EV’s that will use almost no fuel leaving a very regressive tax to be borne by lower income families; the 550 members of the writing and publishing community that signed a letter demanded books by former Trump supporters and office holders not be published should be hanging their heads in shame and meriting our complete disgust and Regency Publications will step into the place of a cowardly Simon and Shuster to publish Senator Hawley’s book attacking Big Tech (shades of the Nazis burning books in the 30’s); during the “campaign” when Biden managed to emerge from his bunker he looked like his mask was glued to his face but after signing an executive order requiring masks on federal property he was soon seen maskless along with maskless daughter and grandchildren on federal property, the Lincoln Memorial; looks like the Biden plan for reopening the nation’s schools will be further delayed; the recall Gavin Newsom continues to gather signatures over a million moving forward to the required goal of 1,500,000.

by Tony Benn, secure in the knowledge that if you want to send a gift for any
memorable events like Father’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings,

1. Get to Know Your
Customers Day—an observance that should be followed by a
business daily to survive and prosper but at least here for 4 days a year, on
the third
Thursday of January, April, July, and
October.
2. Own Your Own Home
Day—created in
1920 as part of National Thrift Week to extol the virtues of home ownership
both from an economic and society standpoint which today given historically low
interest rates and living in a non inflated housing market instead of San
Francisco if one still has a job during the pandemic and has saved up a down
payment still is probably a great investment.
3. 1989
Number One Song—the
number 1 song in 1989 on this day with a run of 2 weeks in that position was “Two
Hearts” by Phil Collins to join 31 other number 1 songs and 11 other acts with
their first number one song. Here is a recording of Phil Collins singing “Two
Hearts”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SidxJz94Svs
Phil was born in England in 1951 and was the drummer in the band Genesis and
following a divorce moved on to a successful solo career while battling alcoholism
and Type II diabetes and retirement.
4.
Word
of the Day—today’s
word of the day is “pudicity” which means modesty which is a trait too often very
rare in far too many people.
5. All in the Name—celebrating
the birthday on this day in 1974 of Kim Schmitz better known today as Kim
Dotcom, a noted internet entrepreneur who founded a file sharing service Megaupload
which was closed down by the FBI in 2012.
On this day in:
a. 1976 commercial air
service of the Concorde began on its London to Bahrain and Paris to Rio de
Janeiro routes.
b.
1981 the first DeLorean made by DeLorean Motor Car Company rolled off the
assembly line in Belfast to be joined by 9,000 others before production was
stopped in December of 1982 after the company had filed for bankruptcy.
c. 1997 the House of
Representatives voted 395-28 to reprimand House Speaker Newt Gingrich for ethics
violations, the first time a Speaker of the House has been reprimanded.
d. 1999 in one of the largest
drug busts in history the U.S. Coast Guard intercepted the bulk carrier Cannes near Jamaica carrying 9500 pounds
of cocaine under a cargo of iron ore.
e. 2017 in a preview on the 4
years of continued assault on his presidency, women marched in 400 cities across
the nation and in over 160 countries in protest over Donald Trump’s being
inaugurated the day before.
Reflections on the
Concorde: “Whenever a Concorde flies, people look at it, it's very graceful,
it's very beautiful, it is a symbol of peace and international understanding.”—Tony
Benn, former Labour Party member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister.
