Ridley’s Believe It Or Not January 20, 2021
CV
World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues the new year with
surging cases now over 96 million at 96,651,429 with 339,217 new cases (a .35%
increase and 1.08% yesterday) 25,374,891 of which are active, 71,615,755
closed with 69,540,974 recoveries (97.10% and 97.10% yesterday) and 2,074,781,
deaths (2.90% and 2.90% yesterday) to continue the trend of increased cases
with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages
with some plateaus.
CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 24 million at 24,998,975 with 192,011 new
cases (a .77%% increase) with 9,614,365
active cases of which 28,198 (.29% of active cases and a decrease now of 1,073
from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in serious or critical condition
15,384,610 closures, 415,894 of which have been deaths (2.70% and
2.71% yesterday) and 14,968,716 of which have been recoveries (97.30% and
97.29% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to improve and after
many months is now .20% lower than the world rate and .11% lower than Canada
which has the socialized type medicine Biden may well want to implement
here and on a deaths per million population measurement on a steady
climb to 1252 ranks behind Belgium (1769), Italy (1385), and UK (1370)
which had passed us despite leading world in testing), and only slightly worse
than Bulgaria (1250), Hungary (1204), Peru (1179) Spain (1168), Mexico (1113),
France (1096), Sweden (1065) that never closed its economy down like we
did but has recently been experiencing a rapid rise in deaths, Switzerland (1027),
Argentina (1017), Brazil (998), Chile (916) that we recently passed, Bolivia (830)
and Ecuador (811) and we have now conducted 291,570,529 tests (now
at 878,007/M compared to Russia at 668,633/M so Trump was telling truth that we
conduct more tests in number and on a per capital basis for nations (other than
those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain,
Denmark, Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) but for the U.K. which
remains off the testing charts with tests at 967,557/M. In the U.S. as of
1/20/2021 17.2 doses have been given, 912,497 per day in the last week. In
California 1.5 M total doses, 3.88/100 and 273 K with second dose. A long way
to go to get herd immunity but a start.
Non
CV Case News: The some 25,000 National Guardsmen deployed in Washington, D.C., had
nothing to do as the Inauguration of President Biden went off without disturbance
or drama capped off by a speech that called for unity (maybe the MSM was
listening through their gushing over him to shed the purging and deprogramming
calls for Trump supporters); now Ex-President Trump left in his last flight on
Air Force One landing in Florida with a hour left in his presidency and before
departing from Andrews Air Force Base touting the accomplishments of his
presidency, wished Biden success and suggested he not raise taxes or increase
regulations and sounded MacArthuresque pledging to be back in some form; CNN
was its disgraceful biased self as Tapper and Dash both demeaned Trump as he
left the White House to helicopter over to Air Force One; Biden may have called
for Unity but for perhaps the Clintons the call fell on deaf ears as Bill
seemed to have nodded off as soon as Biden started speaking and Hillary in a
delusional moment probably saw herself in Biden’s place if in her mind Trump
had not “stolen” the 2016 election; in the publishing world it may be that free
speech has been kissed goodbye as 550 writers and members of the publishing
community have signed a letter demanding a ban on any books written by any
Trump officials (unless most likely they are full of “dirt” real or imagined
like the rag written by Bolton); Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, who was believed
to be on the list of possible Trump pardons did not make the cut as some
speculation that McConnell indicated to Trump if he were to pardon, conviction
on impeachment would be more likely, the vaccine rollout has been beset by
problems and it is telling of the anti-Trump hatred from the Big Tech oligarchs
like Jeff Bezos that Amazon waited until after the Biden Inauguration to offer
its vaunted distribution and logistics services to air in getting the vaccines
into more arms; the recall Gavin Newsom continues to gather signatures over a
million moving forward to the required goal of 1,500,000 https://recallgavin2020.com/petition/.
Chicago/Baltimore Gun
Violence: HeyJackass.com is back to show that through January 19, 2021 in 2021,
gun violence involving persons of color shooting persons of color in Chicago is
alive and well with 157 persons shot of whom 33 have died.

1. Inauguration Day—celebrating
the Constitutionally required inauguration of the president at 12:00 noon on
this day and celebrated on Monday if the 20th falls on a Sunday and
a lucky holiday for only federal employees who work in the Capital region.
2. International Day
of Acceptance—created
by Stevie Hopkins in 2010 to honor the memory of his sister of Anna Hopkins
born in 1984 whose disability required a wheel chair and who fought tirelessly
for acceptance of the disabled in business and society and created the 3E
Foundation and the Wheel Chair Heart symbol to remind those not disabled to
accept those who are.
3. 1988 Number One Song—the number 1 song in 1988 on this day with a run of 1 week in that position was “Got My Mind Set on You” by George Harrison to join 31 other number 1 songs. Here is a recording of George Harrison singing Got My Mind Set on You. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZwjdGSqO0k
4. Word of the Day—today’s
word of the day is “puckery” which means wrinkled which is a fate of aging
which Pelosi seems to have mastered with lots of Botox injections.
5. Women Can Run—celebrating
the birthday on this day in 1967 of noted political advisor Kellyanne Conway
who successfully ran Trump’s Presidential Campaign, the first woman to be in
such a position and later served as Special Counsel to the President and
retired in August, 2020 to spend more time with her family and perhaps mend
some fences with her husband George who is a very outspoken and rabid
anti-Trumpster.
On this day in:
a. 1887 The U.S. Senate
allowed the U.S. Naval to occupy the naval base at Pearl Harbor.
b.
1937 Franklin D. Roosevelt and John Nance Garner were inaugurated as president
and vice president for their second term for the first time since adoption of the
20th Amendment moved Inauguration Day from March to January 20th.
c. 1942 in Berlin, the seeds of
genocide of the Jews were sown at the Wansee Convention held in the Wansee
suburb of Berlin attended by senior Nazi officials to finalize the “Final
Solution” to the Jewish Question.
d. 1954 the National Negro
Network, the first black own radio network started broadcasting over its 45
affiliated stations but soon ran out of capital and ceased operations in 1955.
e. 1986 Martin Luther King, Jr.
Day was celebrated for the first time as a federal holiday.
Reflections from an
Inaugural Speech that are as germane today as when uttered back in 1801: “Let
us, then, fellow citizens, unite with one heart and one mind. Let us restore to
social intercourse that harmony and affection without which liberty and even
life itself are but dreary things. And let us reflect that, having banished
from our land that religious intolerance under which mankind so long bled and
suffered, we have yet gained little if we countenance a political intolerance
as despotic, as wicked, and capable of as bitter and bloody persecutions.” Thomas Jefferson the members of the MSM ranting on the need for reprogramming
really need to take and breath and heed Jefferson’s words.
