Biden Should Ape Lincoln's 2nd Inaugural Address

 

Joe Biden will be sworn in as President of a nation  as divided as since the Civil War
A Capitol stormed, a president in a rush to judgment impeached and lingering feelings of fraud still sore
Biden from his bunker basement ran on a platform of unity to restore
A time to heal the wounds and a deepening divide to succeed we could no longer ignore
He has in his Inaugural Address a rare chance
To the idea of compromise and unity advance
To counter  the cries among his party and its annex the MSM
To call upon a lowering of the rhetoric and calls for purging stem
Too many on the left are attacking Trump but also his supporters
As the time for a chance at unity gets shorter and shorter
Lincoln rose above the carnage on both sides after the Civil War
Fought so long and with so much blood to slavery end and the Union restore
His words ring true even more so today
While calls for Reds to be deprogrammed are on display:
“With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation's wounds”
Unity will be elusive and not gained
If charges of Nazis and KKK if he and the left will not refrain
Listen to Couric and others calling for Trump voters to be reprogrammed
Or try to a Progressive agenda on steroids down the throats of America ram
He will fail and the seeds of recovery that Trump has caused to sprout
With higher taxes, higher regulations, open borders will be washed out
Biden is the benefit of a CV pandemic that an surging econonomy was brought to near ruin
Kept him off the campaign trail where his proclivity for gaffes would bring him doom
He has two vaccines and soon four and a record on how an economy rises up off the floor
We wish him success and hope and pray
The siren call of the progressive wing will not in front of unity and recovery get in the way
