Time for Taft Hartley to End West Coast Port Strike

The West Coast dockworkers’ strike is going to put this country’s recovery in a world of hurt
20,000 longshoremen with crippling powers those powers they now assert
Cargo ships are stacking up like planes in a blizzard circling over O’Hare and waiting for a chance to land
A prolonged longshoremen strike this nation’s fragile economy cannot withstand
Not sure what the dispute revolves around
Longshoremen are some of the most highly  paid workers in town
But for the fact Obama and the Blues are beholden to the union PACs
It is time to invoke Taft Hartley and to send the longshoremen to the docks back
An 80 day injunction with federal mediators aiding in reaching a contract deal
Along with that Obama famous rhetoric might an agreement seal
But to do nothing and watch factories here shut down because of goods still floating on ships
Is not the way to contain, degrade and defeat the economic woes that still have us in their grip
The longshoremen working on the West Coast ports should look at a strike’s long term effect
Won’t take a rocket scientist for Asian exporters to burn the extra fuel and to the Gulf, Vancouver and the East Coast their shipping deflect
Nor to realize that once burned again, the ports will seek to deunionize the operators of the cranes
Given their wages, risking a career would almost seem insane.
