David Carr Dead At 58 RIP

Addiction is a disease guaranteed to bring only increasing, painful grief
Prison, shattered families, poverty, loss of integrity, honor until an OD may bring relief
Rare is the addict who in society continues to his job and family role perform
David Carr was such a man; he broke free above the norm
Addicts normally hide or isolate in the hopes no one will know
While off on another run, taking yet another deadly blow
Five times in rehab yet was not done
Finally on a dare became an author of the Night of the Gun
Addiction and recovery in a struggle epic and an inspiration to all
Trying so hard to put this disease in remission to its advance forestall
News today is that David Carr’s journalistic heart beatings came to a sudden end
Hours after a panel interview with Snowden whose disclosures revealed the NSA’s wiretapping trend
Another reminder that all of us are on an uncertain short term lease wondering when the thief of the night will knock
Reason to live life with a purpose not fogged by drugs so one’s potential is not in any way blocked.
