On the crime front, police are in a massive manhunt for 40 year old
Robert Card, a firearms instructor who has been caught on camera shooting a
semi-automatic rifle to become a person of interest in the killing of 22 and
the wounding of 30 at two locations in Lewiston, Maine—Schemengees Bar and
Sparetime Recreation. 22 people killed in one night when the total dead in
all of Maine stood at 29.
On the Keystone Kops
Quest for Speaker front, Reds on their a 4th Speaker Candidate have
sent Mike Johnson to be voted on by the full House where he was voted in by a
majority of the House to become Speaker. Look for Trump to claim that his
support for Johnson to be the key for his win. The leaders of the Republican
Party must amend the rules to require a higher number of members who want to
remove the Speaker and consider measures to reduce the Speaker’s power so the
position becomes not so valuable that a small minority can hobble the election
process.
On the Hamas Israel Ground
War front, the IDF with tanks and infantry entered Northern Gaza in force to attack
terrorist cells, anti-tank missiles launch sites and infrastructure to then
returned to Israel.
On the Hamas Israel War
front U.S. forces in Syria and Iraq have been attacked by drone and rocket
attacks, 14 times since October 8, 11 in Syria and 3 in Iraq that have inured
20 raising the question of whether anyone from Iran was listening to Secretary
of State Blinken’s stern warning of American response if our troops were
attacked. Senator Joni Ernst, given Iran’s support of Hamas and Hezbollah is
outraged the State Department has given a visa to Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian to attend a
United Nations session.
On the Hamas Israel War
Propaganda front, American colleges and universities are taking on the déjà vu
appearance of the Vietnam War with praise for the Palestinians and protests to end the war with a ceasefire and
for Israel to stop the “genocide” of the Palestinians. The MSM is complicit in
falsely blaming Israel for the Gaza hospital bombing. The Queen of Jordan on
CNN has weighed in on what she calls the double standard of it being
reprehensible for Hamas to kill Israeli civilians on the ground but not so when
they are killed from the air whether targeted or not.
On the illegal alien
migration front the chicken of the failure to secure the border are coming home
to roost as in a very Blue state New York, as a Sienna poll has revealed that
64% of New Yorkers disapprove of Biden’s handling of the crisis, including a
whopping 48% of Blues; 84% of voters are concerned illegal migration is a
serious problem while 57% agree that it is a very serious problem. Mayor Adams
is not faring much better with a 46% disapproval and just a 30% approval rate.
On the Hamas Israel Condemnation front, China
and Russia voted against a UN Security Council Resolution to condemn Hamas for
its October 7th attack on Israel while in the House’s its first act
after electing a Speaker was to condemn Hamas 422-10 with 6 Blues voting
“present.” Have not been able to determine who voted “no”, but a safe bet would
be all ten democrats.
On the Malibu “Dead Man’s
Curve front, Fraser Bohm, age 22 who has been arrested for vehicular homicide
and reckless driving pled not guilty to killing the 4 Pepperdine sorority
sisters while allegedly texting and traveling at 104 miles per hour and had his
bail set at $4 million subject to further review hearing.
On the transgender front, the Japanese
superior court, struck down a law
requiring a person wanting to change a
person’s sexual identity on that person’s birth certificate must first remove
that person’s sex organs.

Noted Holidays: National Greasy
Foods Day is celebrated today but clueless who created it or when first
celebrated only with the plethora of fast food places we have it’s pretty easy
to load up on fat today to cause dieticians’ blood pressure to rise and to have
the Jenny Craig’s and Nutrisystem’s jump
for joy for more overweight and obese customers.
Word of the Day: The word
of the day as we continue with words starting with “b” is “beatster” which
means a repairer of fishnet who is a good person to be on the crew of a
seiner or gillnetter when fishing.
Song of the
Day: The number 1 song on this day in 1954 was “Hey There” by
Rosemary Clooney with Buddy Cole and his Orchestra on a
run of 5 weeks to share number 1 status with 9 other songs achieving number 1 ranking. Here
is a recording of Rosemary Clooney with
Buddy Cole and his Orchestra performing “Hey There”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1dNxDlzfGA
October 25 Birthdays: “Queen

October 25 Historical Events in Rhyme
1. On
this day in 2001 Microsoft released Windows XP/ One of the most successful operating
systems the world would see/Sadly Microsoft chose to violate the If it is not
broken don’t try to fix it rule/And introduced Vista which was criticized as a
second rate tool.
2. On
this day in 1999 a Lear Jet with 6 aboard/An oxygen malfunction was
ignored/Soon all 6 including Payne Stewart of the PGA/Were dead as the plane on
autopilot continued on its way/A flying coffin that would crash as fuel ran out
later that day.
3. On
this day in 1983 2 days after the Marine Barracks in Beirut was destroyed by a
truck bomber who committed suicide/The U.S. and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean
States invaded Grenada to prevent a growing Cuban and Soviet military presence
we could not abide/Also a pretext of 600 medical students that Reagan feared/Like
the American hostages from the Tehran Embassy on TV would soon appear/In four
days it was over with few lives lost/But a UN resolution condemning us for the
invasion was the cost/Memorialized in part in Heartbreak Ridge, a Clint
Eastwood flick/Leaving a lasting image that in the Caribbean the U.S. carried
and would use a big stick.
4. On this day in 1962 at the UN
Security Council after the Soviets on the existence of their nuclear missiles
in Cuba denied/Adlai Stevenson produced for the world to see on TV that the Soviets
had clearly lied/As the U.S. Navy imposed a blockade of any Soviet cargo ships
to Cuba en route/The world held its breath that the U.S. Navy would have to
shoot/Faced with a nuclear war and an agreement of the U.S. to silently remove
its Jupiter midrange missiles in Turkey that could Russia attack/The Soviets
blinked, started to remove their Cuban missile sites and turned their ships
back.
5. On
this day in 1949 after having forced the Nationalist Chinese to the Island of
Taiwan retreat/The PLA tried to invade Quemoy island just off China’s coast
that had to be occupied before they could on Taiwan the Chinese Nationalist
armies defeat; The island was defended with veteran troops backed by tanks and
air/The element of surprise was lost before the beach the PLA could get
there/Too many fishing vessels landing craft were beached or destroyed/So the
second wave of troops waiting to land could not be deployed/The first wave of
9,086 could not be reinforced or with ammunition and rations resupplied/Stopped
cold by air, artillery, tanks and naval craft their advance into the island was
denied/Had no choice but for the 5,175 who survived to surrender while 3,873
died.
Quote on the Invasion of Grenada by Senator Tom Cotton: “The
Grenada operation was the first successful military rollback of communism
during the Cold War. We had eliminated a deadly threat on our doorstep. And we
had liberated a grateful people, who enjoy freedom and democracy to this day.
Reagan worked to stabilize the
island and later traveled there in 1986. Tens of thousands of Grenadians lined
the streets and welcomed Reagan as a liberator. Grenada’s prime minister
described Reagan as “our own national hero” and “our rescuer after God.” Reagan
passed banner after banner that read “God Bless America” and later wrote that
“I probably never felt better during my presidency than I did that day.” What
Reagan felt that day was the joy of American success, made possible by American
strength and confidence.”
