On the Keystone
Kops Quest for Speaker front, after Trump weighed in that the latest speaker attempt
Tom Emmer was not MAGA, Tom Emmer has withdrawn his name and the new candidate
for the post is Mike Johnson who has been selected as the Republican nominee
for Speaker but it is not certain whether he has the 217 votes necessary to win
the position as the Reds claim to govern with each day of delay goes further
down the drain.
On the Hamas Israel War front the U.S. civilian
death toll has risen to 33 and the U.S. is upping its ante with F-16’s being
sent to the region along with more Iron Dome systems for Israel as American
bases in Syria and Iraq have come under rocket attack and U.S. forces there
have been wounded but not killed (whether this is merely another Obama like Red
Line in the sand remains to be seen).
Israel is still massing forces but
has not invaded Gaza as the number of voices calling for a cease fire continue
to increase along with the cries for more humanitarian aid to go to Gaza while
Israel continues to bomb suspected Havas military sites in Gaza and on sea
intercept Hamas terrorists trying to infiltrate. Casualties among Gazans
continue to rise as no matter how surgical the airstrikes are intended to be
collateral damage with increasing numbers of dead or wounded Gazans to be expected.
On the Iran as a sponsor of
terrorism front, a U.S. proposed Security Council which called on Iran to cease
“the export of all arms and related matériel to armed militias
and terrorist groups threatening peace and security across the region,
including Hamas ..." was gutted by amendment by Russia’s demand to
urge “Member States to intensify their efforts to suppress the financing of
terrorism, including by restricting financing of Hamas through applicable
national-level authorities, in accordance with international law and consistent
with Resolution 2482 (2019).” The UN Secretary General António Guterres is also in hot water for seemingly justifying
the October 7, 2023 on Israel due to “56 years of brutal occupation” as Israel’s
Ambassador to the UN demanded his resignation.
On the Alaska Airlines “You get more
for the same price front” Alaskan Airlines pilot Captain Joseph Emerson who tried
to shut down the plane’s engines after taking off from Everett, Washington
entered a plea of not guilty for attempted murder of 83 passengers and crew stating
he was having a mental breakdown and had eaten psychedelic mushrooms for the
first time before the event.
On the transgender sponsorship
front, Bud Light has taken another step to extricate itself from its disastrous
marketing partnership with Dylan Mulvaney as it announced starting in 2024 it
will be the beer of the UFC, a mixed martial arts contact sporting event where
it would be almost impossible ever to see a transgender in the ring but you
will see a lot of fight machismo candidates trying to knock their opponent down
with fists and feet.
On sports front, the NBA
opened its season today and the Arizona Diamondbacks won game 7 of the National
League Championship against the Philadelphia Phillies in Philadelphia 4-2 to
meet the Texas Rangers in the World Series.

Noted Holidays: World Tripe Day founded
by the U.K. based World Tripe Marketing Board in 2013 to promote the
consumption of this stomach lining of
cows, pigs, or sheep but beef predominates. Tripe is often found in Pho and is
one of the main ingredients in the Mexican soup Menudo and very often found in
Chinese restaurants serving Dim Sum.
Word of the Day: The word of
the day as we continue with words starting with “b” is “bavian” which
means an insignificant or unskilled poet which the Alaskanpoet is most
assuredly not.
Song of the Day: The number 1 song on this day in 1955
was “Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing” by The Four Aces feat. Al
Alberts on a run of 2 weeks non
continuous to share number 1 status with 10 other songs achieving number 1 ranking. Here
is a recording of The Four Aces feat. Al
Alberts performing “Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZecKFP10XE

October 24 Historical Events in Rhyme
1. On
this day in 2015 following an Oklahoma State Homecoming Parade end/Adacia Avery Chambers, intentionally drove her car into onlookers to 4 to
the morgues send/47 injured were lucky not to die/But on hospital care had to
rely/Chambers wanted to commit suicide/Sadly she took 4 innocents with her on
her ride/On the eve of her trial she copped a life sentence plea/Hope she gets
some treatment in prison to allay her depression misery.
2. On
this day in 2014 in a wakeup call that should ring loud and clear/China
launched a probe to orbit the Moon photographing landing sites for a future
lunar landing they want to a lander steer/China is all in on the lunar space
race/Do not be surprised if the intent is to create a military base/The Moon is
the ultimate high ground/Will us or the Chinese be the first this time to on
the lunar surface touch down?
3. On
this day in 2003/the Atlantic Ocean became sonic boom free/The last commercial
flight of the Concorde took off from JFK heading for Heathrow/No longer
would passengers be able to faster than the speed of sound go/Many fliers must
have had a Concorde flight on their bucket list/If you want to get up
close in 4 museums in the U.S. a Concorde exists.
4. On this day in 1992 America’s Past
Time monopoly was through/The World Series was won by the Toronto Blue Jays against
the Atlanta Braves in 6 games/To become the first and only team outside the U.S.
to accomplish World Series fame/The other Canadian team the Montreal Expos had
the MLB’s best record in 1994/Would have won but the players strike locked MLB’s
stadium doors/Expos moved in 2005 to Washington D.C./Renamed the Nationals and in

5. On
this day in 1871 in L.A.’s Chinatown/A policeman was in a tong dispute killed
sparking a rumor Chinese were killing whites that was spread around/A mob of
some 500 and Latinos whites descended to ransack Chinese shops/In a frenzy the
few police could not stop/Mob had already lynched 1 and dragged 16 Chinese out of
a building and lynched them all/The largest mass lynching in our history that
should all of us appall/ 10 mob members were tried and convicted but on appeal
reversed/So for our disgrace none were retried leaving the surviving Chinese in
Chinatown to quietly curse.
Quote on the 1891 Chinatown Massacre by Doyce Nunis former head of
the history department at USC: “If good citizens like Thom and Kewen did not
sanction lynching, they almost certainly shared the rioters' attitude toward
the Chinese as a threat to the future of California as a homeland for
transplanted WASPS. You've got to look at what motivated the killers. The
economy was on the decline with the end of the Civil War. There was social
dislocation. Blacks were moving in. The Chinese were very successful. All these
things caused resentment. I really felt the lynchings were a put-up job.”
