Ridley's Believe It Or Not September 11 History Patriot Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not—September 11, 2014Trust your Thursday is proving to be a good one and that you have time to reflect on what transpired on this day 13 years ago and that you enjoy the factoids and quote from John Kerry with a smile on your sunscreened face, a positive attitude,  secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for a memorable event, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem tailored to the event and the recipient.
I have posted on my blog a poem on that day and Mike Kehoe’s bravery.
           1. Patriot Day—honoring the almost 3,000 men, women and children who lost their lives on this day in 2001 when jihadists hijacked four jetliners and then crashed two of them into the World Trade Center, one into the Pentagon, and the final one following a revolt of the hijacked passengers into the Pennsylvania countryside before it could reach and attack the White House. Sad day, very sad indeed.
           2. National Emergency Responders Day—honoring the sacrifices of first responders like police and firemen who put their lives on the line to protect their fellow citizens—on 911 414 deaths of first responders occurred.
On this day in
             a. 1789 Alexander Hamilton was appointed as the first Secretary of the Treasury.
             b. 1813 British troops arrived at Mt. Vernon and prepared to invade and burn Washington, D.C.
             c. 1857 in a blow against religious tolerance which in the jihadist world with the like of ISIS cannot be found, the Mormon Militia massacred 120 emigrants en route to California at Mountain Meadows, Utah, sparing only 17 children all of whom were under the age of seven.
             d. 1893 the Parliament of the World’s Religions opened in Chicago where Swami Vivekananda delivered his speech on fanaticism, tolerance and the truth inherent in all religions, a speech which the jihadists of the world ought to take time to read before slaughtering Christians.
Reflections on 911: “Remember the hours after Sept. 11 when we came together as one…It was the worst day we have ever seen, but it brought out the best in all of us.” Then Senator John Kerry in 2004 So true but a lot of the unity capital has been squandered over the fiercely partisan attacks by both parties in D.C. and the state capitals across this land.
