UA Motto Is "Fly the Friendly Skies" Not "When High or Drunk It's Okay to the Plane Fly" As Pilot Learned Pulled From Cockpit in Paris

 

We all know that a person should not drink and then drive
If you want to improve the chances you are not injured and stay alive
If a passenger it is wiser to change places
To the inebriated driver replace
Or leave the car where parked and call Uber or Lyft
For both of you the act could be a life-saving gift
Add to that warning a command to be followed at all times
If you fly a plane wait at least 8 hours after a drink before you fly or face a crime
United Airlines has as its slogan “Fly the Friendly Skies”
It is not “When High or Drunk It’s Okay to the PlaneFly”
On a flight from Paris to Houston the pilot came weaving aboard
Probably smelling that he had emptied a liquor cabinet horde
The flight staff must have quickly summoned the French  cops
Who removed him from the cockpit and arrested him on the spot
The passengers may have been inconvenienced by the delay
Until United could locate another pilot to send their way
But should be thanking their lucky stars
That trying to take off the pilot was barred
He will lose his license to pilot an airliner for a year
But hopefully after his jail time at AA meetings he will religiously appear
