Asheville, North Carolina in the Blue Mountains a popular
tourist destination
Is facing the Perfect Storm of criminal activity due to its defund the cops
inclination
Now faces another concern that is troubling for those
dependent on the tourists’ spending
Tourism has on a decline been trending
Increased crime a likely cause but Asheville believes another cause
For which its existing panhandling ordinances are out dated and flawed
A person can panhandle on the sidewalks but not harass for alms
Moves now afoot to create a ten foot cordon sanitaire around
diners from outstretched palms
And banning drivers from donating to beggars on traffic islands in the middle
of the roads
We are a Christian nation and it is difficult to ban people
with spare change to giving forbode
Solve the crime increase and tout the town is a safe place
to be
And once again the town will be a place tourists wabt to see
