Surf's Up and So Are Shark Attacks

We all know that when it comes to a magnet for sharks to attract
The coast of South Africa averages yearly six shark attacks
A number which this year on our Atlantic coast we have surpassed
Still a rare occurrence but no comfort to a swimmer whose body bitten may not last
Rarer still is to see an attack on a surfer on video during a surfing contest capture
Nathan Fanning fighting back, rescued with only a slight dent in his board in total rapture
It will be interesting to see if this three time champion will try to a fourth time repeat
Or hang up his board and seek other sports or vocations where sharks you do not greet
Given all the shark steaks on the grill and all the shark fin soup the Chinese wish to consume
And the fact that for many species endangered species status looms
We humans are so very lucky that sharks cannot hold a council of war
To hunt humans any time they venture more than a foot off shore
The attack captured on video is but another reminder that although our technology rules
Anyone who thinks at anytime parts of this planet we do not have to share is either an idiot or a fool.
