       1. World Social Media Day—celebrating since  2010 the growth of social media  across the globe as a means to bring people together while bemoaning its use to radicalize far more people to join the ranks of terrorist fanatics like ISIS.
      2. NOW Day—celebrating the formation of the National Organization for Women on this day in 1966.

        5.  Who Needs Weight Watchers Day—celebrating the birthday on this day in 1985 of Michael  Phelps the winner of more Olympic medals than any other Olympian and was reported during the Beijing Summer Olympics to be consuming 12,000 calories a day without gaining an ounce.

       a. 1882 Charles Guiteau the man who assassinated President Garfield was hanged in Washington, D.C.
       b. 1906 the U.S. Congress passed the Meat Inspection Act and the Pure Food and Drug Act.
       c. 1937 the world’s first emergency telephone number 999 was installed in London.
       d. 1971 Ohio ratified the 26th Amendment lowering the voting age to 18 thereby putting the amendment into effect.
       e. 1986 the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of Bowers v. Hardwick ruled that states can outlaw homosexual acts between consenting adults. 29 years later the court ruled that states cannot prohibit same sex marriages.
