Throughout
armed conflicts of the past, warring parties under a white flag have called for
a truce
To
clear the field of the dead and wounded if for only a few hours before the dogs
of war are let loose
Some
like the Christmas Truce of 1914 are the subject of news and movie lore
A
testament that for some 24 hours the Christmas Spirit could overcome the urge
for blood and gore
Or
in the case of a Bridge Too Far the Germans were persuaded by the Dutch for a
truce to bury the dead
Only
a few hours of tranquility before the maiming and killing would again go ahead
Sometimes
a truce was welcomed with high hopes and ideals
Only
to like in Tet treachery by the other side be revealed
But
almost always a truce not matter the risk was worth the chance
Recover
the dead and drag off the wounded to let humanity principle advacne
We
are now engaged in this nation in ad hominem rhetoric war
Each
day the frequency, animosity and ferocity of the attacks soar
Trump
and his supporters become Nazi Storm Trooper and Gestapo
Vicious
ad hominem attacks that only the seeds of divisiveness and gridlock sew
Pelosi
is mocked for her racist calls and ripping up SOTU speech and AOC for being a F---ing
bitch
Any
chance of having rational discussion and debate and solving issues thrown into
a ditch
Our
Blue and Red leaders must get it through their thick heads
That
because there is a different point view a foe is not an untermensch that should
be politically dead
Fight
for your principles based on sound arguments that the principles are in nation’s
best interest to adopt
But
the racist, xenophobic, unpatriotic, anti-American, Walmart shoppers as just a
few outbursts must stop
If
Germans and Allies could stop killing each other during a truce in World War I
Not
too much to ask that until polls close bitter ad hominem attacks both parties pledge
to shun
