If you believe in God there is a sure bet that the spirit of John Lewis is looking down
Probably saddened that non violence protest in the Civil Rights Movement no longer has the high ground
The non violent "We shall overcome" has been drowned out
By the sounds of looting and burnings and the smell of tear gas on rioters trying to rout
Martin must be greeting him and thanking him for his persistent never ending fight
To in the struggle for Civil Rights end what is wrong and change it to make it right
John Lewis may have been removed on Earth from the struggle for Civil Rights fray
But his words and deeds will be monuments of inspiration to whites and blacks that will not soon go away
RIP John Lewis the struggle for Civil Rights is far from done
But there are thousands who will pick up the nonviolent baton to insure the fight will be won!
History.
