July 9, 2020 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Martyrdom of the Bab

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For July 9, 2020
CV World: The CV pandemic across the planet continues  with 219,644 new cases  (a 1.82%  increase compared to a 2.44% increase yesterday) to bring the total to over 12 million at 12,287,615 cases, 4,585,292   of  which  are active, 7,702,323 of which have been closed with 7,147,703 recoveries (92.8% compared to  yesterday’s 92.72%) and 554,620   deaths (7.2% compared to yesterday’s 7.28%).
CV USA: New cases of 62,407 with total cases of 3,193,554 (a 1.99% increase compared to yesterday’s 4.12% increase) with 1,650,064 active cases of which 15,432 (15,387 yesterday) are in serious or critical condition and 1,543,490 closures, 135,388 of which have been deaths (8.77% compared to  yesterday’s 8.91%) and 1,408,102  of which  have been recoveries (91.23%  compared to yesterday’s 90.09%) (our death rate percentages continue to improve and are finally in single digits since Cuomo repealed his order sending CV positive patients on May 10 but remain higher than the world probably due to idiots like Cuomo sending positive CV patients into nursing homes to infect the residents and staff who then die and accounted for some 40% of our deaths with 39,785,287 tests (so much for Biden’s claim of lack of testing by Trump and implications Trump is slowing testing to hide CV increases).
Non CV News: Biden is pledging to reverse Trump’s tax cut which would really incentivize American business and jobs to leave and keep their profits overseas touting plans to have government invest in businesses especially minority owned ones (since he has lost many of his mental faculties he has probably forgotten the billions lost trying to pick winners and favoring political cronies during the Obama Biden years; Pelosi, whose father and brother ruled Baltimore for years, has refused to condemn protesters who pulled down a statue of Christopher Columbus and threw it into Baltimore Harbor saying “People will do what they do” (probably her views also when people defecate and urinate and shoot up in public in her feces district); SCOTUS delivered  a split decision involving the release of Trump’s tax records rejecting his claim for immunity in the Southern District of New York’s criminal case and rejecting the House’s subpoena in its oversight role by remanding it back to the District Court to further review the facts supposedly justifying the House’s alleged need (given that leaks are the currency of the Devils that reside in the Swamp do not be surprised if some rabid anti-Trump prosecutor or clerk working in the D.A.’s office leaks the tax returns; the DOJ not wanting a repeat of the Epstein “suicide” is requiring Ghislaine Maxwell to wear paper clothes and not be alone unviewed in her cell (since the smart bet is that she will cooperate with the feds by revealing the identities of the perverts that participated in Epstein’s abuse of minors, the blood is still being sweated among many elite like Clinton and Prince Andrew); the tab for Michael Cohen’s meal in a trendy Manhattan restaurant just became a whole lot more expensive as he was taken back into custody for violating the terms of his house arrest (couldn’t happen to a more arrogant elite thinking he was above the law); Treasury Secretary Mnuchin has set a July 20 target date for a 4th stimulus package that will include stimulus checks for Americans (hopefully only citizens or lawful permanent residents); District Court Judge Sullivan whose rulings and demeanor have reeked of anti-Flynn bias is refusing to dismiss the case against Flynn despite SCOTUS’ ruling against him by petitioning the Circuit Court for a review of the 3 judge panel ruling (sadly in a tight election year Trump is probably constrained from ending Flynn’s misery by pardoning him); with all the problems we face it is mind boggling the left is focusing on changing the name of the “Redskins” even though only a very small number of Native Americans have skin so thin they are defended and have proposed “Redtails” in honor of the P-51 flying Tuskegee Airmen (Black Lives Matter but white airmen who were killed or imprisoned by the thousands in the ETO don’t?); not wearing a mask in public is evidently hazardous to your health as Jerry Lewis not wearing one and walking away from an altercation with a convicted felon security guard Umeir Hawkins at a store in Gardena over not wearing a mask  was shot and killed;  in Chicago as of July 8, 2020, the number of shootings increased to 1876, of whom 337 have died (so much for the defund the police movement and  for the effectiveness of Chicago’s stay at home order and a complete dereliction of duty by Mayor Lightfoot other than swearing at people outraged over the killings); Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths but now seems to be shooting less and killing less and is now 166 behind Chicago now at 171 murders (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which have been more deadly and more numerous than shootings by police or random mass shootings?).
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this day in history,  a musical link to Alan O’Day, the fact that you call politicians to account when they are guilty of parecbasis, and a quote by Zachary Taylor on what the nation needs to do to further its existence,  secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like Father’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. Fashion Day—in a slow day for holidays and observances, not sure who created this day or when only that it calls on people to don their best duds to display their fashion conscious mind.
2. Martyrdom of the Bab—celebrated by members of the Baha'i Faith  of the execution by firing squad of one of their devotees on this day in Persia on in 1850.
3. 1977 Number One Song— the number 1 song in 1977 on this day on a run of 1 week in that position was “Undercover Angel” by Alan O’Day in his first number 1 hit.  Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-xRMw0NyW0.  O’Day is one of the few to write a number 1 song for himself and a number 1 song for another performer and his voice and pen were stilled forever by brain cancer on May 17, 2013 at the age of 72.
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “parecbasis” which means a deviation or digression from an expected topic which describes the answers of most politicians to questions they despise.
5. 2 Out Of 6 Not a Bad Winning Percentage--celebrating the birth on this day in 1956 of note actor Tom Hanks who has won 2 Oscars for Best Actor out of 6 nominations and can now list COVID-19 recoverer to his long list of credits and awards.
On this day in:
 a. 1850 President Zachary Taylor, then the only president to be elected without having held political office, died after having consumed large amounts of fresh fruit and iced milk several days earlier and was replaced by Vice President Millard Fillmore.
 b. 1896 William Jennings Bryan delivered his “Cross of Gold” speech to the Democratic Convention.
 c. 1944 American forces successfully ended a 24 day campaign to take Saipan which put Japan within the range of B-29 raids that would bring massive devastation to the Japanese.
 d. 1986 New Zealand passed the Homestead Reform Act legalizing homosexuality.
 e. 1993 the Canadian Parliament passed the Nunavut Act dividing the Northwest Territories into 2 lands, one arctic and the other not, which led to the creation in 1999 of the Province of Nunavut, Canada’s most northern province.
Reflections on how to continue the existence of this nation: “The only ground of hope for the continuance of our free institutions is in the proper moral and religious training of the children, that they may be prepared to discharge aright the duties of men and citizens.” Zachary Taylor. Wise words that it would behoove the left to try to follow as they seem hell bent to destroy this country.
