July 4, 2020 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Independence Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For July 4, 2020
CV World: The CV pandemic across the planet continues with 286,461 new cases  (a 2.58%  increase compared to a 2.17% increase yesterday) to bring the total to 11,372,004 cases, 4,405,201   of  which  are active, 6,966,803 of which have been closed with 6,433,942 recoveries (92.35% compared to  yesterday’s 92.19%) and 519,977   deaths (7.65% compared to yesterday’s 7.81%).
CV USA: New cases of 74,838   have brought total cases to 2,935,770 (a 2.62% increase compared to yesterday’s 3.86% increase)  with 1,543,047 active cases of which 16,017 (15,907 yesterday) are in serious or critical condition and 1,392,723 closures, 132,318 of which have been deaths (9.5% compared to  yesterday’s 9.9%) and 1,260,405  of which  have been recoveries (90.5%  compared to yesterday’s 89.9%) (our death rate percentages continue to improve and are finally in single digits
since Cuomo repealed his order sending CV positive patients on May 10 but remain higher than the world probably due to idiots like Cuomo sending positive CV patients into nursing homes to infect the residents and staff who then die and accounted for some 40% of our deaths with 36,953,633 tests (so much for Biden’s claim of lack of testing by Trump).
Non CV News: Kimberly Guilfoyle, a head of a Trump fund raising organization and girlfriend of Donald Trump, Jr. tested positive before the Mt. Rushmore speech yesterday and drove back with Trump, Jr. without attending; at the White House the 4th was celebrated with a small gathering on the White Lawn with military aircraft parading over and Trump giving a rousing speech attacking the liberal mobs who want to tear down our past; from the basement bunker weak Joe Biden addressed the need to confront “systematic racism”; Trump should be applauded for his quick action in banning travel from Chinese from China but evidently the ban did not extend to travel from Hong Kong and Macau and 8,000 Chinese from China entered the country (unfortunately we have no idea how many people were infected by these travelers); in the war on preservation of Human Rights and their suppression by the Chinese in Hong Kong the Chinese seem to be winning the propaganda war with 53 countries of the really misnamed UN Human Rights Council supporting China’s recent suppression and only 26 nations opposing (another reason to wonder why we insist to be a piggy bank anyone can empty); Virginia has cowardly due to fear of protests against the flag in the Commonwealth during the 4th ordered the removal of a one story tall American flag from a construction site due to fears of protesting violence (give the leftist Anti-American mobs an inch will incite them to demand a mile—what pathetic wimps from a state that gave us 4 of 5 of our first presidents and 8 total; Rose McGowan is back in the news following the arrest of Ghislaine Maxwell and calling for the arrest of Bill Clinton and Prince Andrew for their alleged involvement with Jeremy Epstein’s  sexual abuse of female minors; Michael Cohen, another poster child for two legal standards one for the wealthy and elite and the other for mere mortals, who was released from prison to home arrest due to CV concerns was spotted out with friends dining in a trendy NYC restaurant in violation of the terms of his home arrest and hopefully will be sent back to prison; in Chicago as of July 3, 2020, there were 1778 shootings of whom 318 have died (so much for the defund the police movement and  for the effectiveness of Chicago’s stay at home order and a complete dereliction of duty by Mayor Lightfoot other than swearing at people outraged over the killings); Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths but now seems to be shooting less and killing less and is now 151 behind Chicago stuck at 167 murders (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which have been more deadly and more numerous than shootings by police or random mass shootings?).
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this day in history,  a musical link to Neil Diamond, the fact that you do not want parastatal companies operating here in the United States, and a quote by Richelle E. Goodrich on the 4th of July,  secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like Father’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
 1. Independence Day—celebrating the day representatives from the 13 Colonies executed the Declaration of Independence written by Thomas Jefferson, who leftist history revisionist loathe and urge statues of him be destroyed, at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania declaring our independence from Great Britain and explaining the reasons for such act.
2. Independence from Meat Day—not sure when this day was created by the Vegetarian Awareness Network but given the dearth of barbecues due to the CV pandemic probably a good day to celebrate it.
3. 1972 Number One Song— the number 1 song in 1972 on this day on a run of 1 week in that position was “Song Song Blue” by Neil Diamond. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ighSddnnaPE. . This incredibly successful songwriter and singer with over 100 million records sold retired from touring due to Parkinson’s Disease in 2018.
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “parastatal” which means indirectly controlled by the state which describes to a tee the vast majority of Chinese companies operating in the United States.
5. Bullets Block--celebrating the birth on this day in 1981 of Will Smith who played defensive end for this entire 9 seasons in the National Football League for the New Orleans Saints but upon retirement was involved in a road rage incident in which he had a BAC of .232 and rear ended a car which caused Smith and the driver of the car to exchange heated words which led to that driver shooting and killing Smith and wounding his wife; the shooter was arrested, tried, convicted and sentenced to  35 years.
On this day in:
 a. 1911 a massive heat wave stroke the Northeastern United States with temperatures in the triple digits leaving some 400 people and countless horses dead in its wake when it ended 11 days later.
 b. 1946 after 381 years of continuous rule by various foreign powers, the Philippines gained its independence from the United States.
 c. 1976 Israeli commandos with the loss of one soldier freed all but 4 of the remaining hostages from Air France 139 high jacked and held by terrorists at Entebbe Airport, Uganda.
 d. 2004 the cornerstone for the Freedom Tower was laid at the World Trade Center Site.
 e. 2009 the crown of the Statue Of Liberty opened to the public for the first time after being closed due to the attacks of 9/11.
Reflections on the 4th of July: “Years ago, a group of good, wise, brave, God-fearing men stood up to claim and defend the human right for independence. Those men are now dead. Their work is not. If good, wise, brave, God-fearing men fail to stand up in their stead, that independence will cease to exist.”
