In quarter finals action in the World Cup, France beat England 2-1 and
Morocco beat Portugal 1-0, setting up a semi-final match on the !4th
between France and its former protectorate. In the other semi-final game,
Croatia who upset favored Brazil will meet Argentina (at least this year the
U.S. Men made it to the Sweet 16 to then lose to the Netherlands). In a Grinch
move that has spiked contributions to the Salvation Army, the NFL fined Dak
Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot each $13,261 after Elliot jumped in the giant
Salvation Army Kettle disappeared down and then arose when Prescott turned an
imaginary handle than prompted Elliot to rise up with his “feed me” move. I trust

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not December 11, 2022
Noted Holiday: Holiday
Food Drive for Needy Animals, not sure who created this holiday but has
been celebrated on this date since 2017 and with inflation decimating the
ability of food banks to acquire food for the needy, animal rescue shelters are
in the same predicament. So easy to celebrate by donating pet food or cash to a
local animal shelter.
Word of
the Day: The word of the day is “acapnotic” which means a nonsmoker whose
numbers increase each year due to increased costs of tobacco products,
increased areas designated as nonsmoking and public service ads informing
people of the health risks of smoking and second hand smoke.
Number 1
Song of the Day: The number 1 song on this day in 2006 was “I Wanna Love
You” by Akon feat. Snoop Dogg on a run of 2 weeks to share with 18 other songs achieving number
1 status while 20 acts, including Akon, achieved their first number 1
song. Here is a music video of Akon feat. Snoop Dogg performing “I Wanna Love You” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pg5U9qgcckY
Noted
Birthdays: John Forbes Kerry, born on this day in 1943, was a former Blue
President candidate beaten by George W. Bush, Obama’s Secretary of State and
now Biden’s Climate Change Czar who must be oblivious of the supposed need to
reduce carbon emissions as he regularly even when commercial flights are available
flies in his wife’s family foundation’s private jet.
Notable
Events that occurred on December 11.
1. 1946—The United Nations international
Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) was established.
2.
1997—The Kyoto Protocol on reducing greenhouse emissions was opened for
signature.
3.
2001—China joined the World Trade Organization but unfortunately did not curb its
unfair trade practices like IP theft and currency manipulation.
4. 2008—Con Man Bernie Madoff was arrested
and charged with securities fraud in his $50 billion Ponzi scheme.
5. 2020—Using the Emergency Use
Authorization, the FDA approved Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, the first
vaccine to attempt to deal with the deadly virus which lessened the severity of
the disease did not ensure the vaccinated would not be infected nor be unable
to spread the disease despite the proclamations to the contrary by Fauci and
the CDC.
Quote of the Day:
Tom Hiddleston, noted English actor: “What
I learned in Guinea is that we are all responsible for the state of our world.
The world - and the system by which we trade, share, cooperate and conflict -
is clearly not working. We are only as strong as our weakest members. UNICEF is
run at every level by strong, relentlessly energetic, deeply capable people who
use that strength, energy and capability to help those who need it most: the
weakest, most disadvantaged women and children of our world. All I can do now
is help make people aware of what is happening, of what they are doing. That is
all that I can do.”
