December 11, 2018 Ridley's Believe It Or Not International Mountain Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For December 11, 2018 Schumer and Pelosi met with President Trump over building the wall in a very contentious meeting with Trump threatening to shut the government down and Schumer and Pelosi indicating their absolute refusal to allocate funds to building the wall (totally consistent with their policy of an open border and in Pelosi’s case put her foot in her mouth with an absurd claim questioning Trump’s manhood and once again showing her value as a lightning rod to galvanize Red voters); France already wheeling under protests of the Yellow Vests has just been hit with a terrorist shooting in Strasbourg killing 2 and wounding 12 by a gunman who may have been wounded but is still of the run; Prime Minister May whose hold on power is shaky at best has postponed a vote one her Brexit plan over fears of not having the votes to pass it; now we know why Stormy Daniels is claiming that her lawyer Avenatti acted without her permission in filing a defamation lawsuit against Trump as a judge has ruled she is liable for $293,000 of Trump’s legal fees (that is a lot porn films); Paul Krugman an op ed writer for the New York Times has gone off the deep end with his tweet that the U.S. has joined the Axis of Evil of Russia, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait for its opposition to the UN’s latest report on climate change; the president of Google somehow managed to keep a straight face in his testimony before Congress with the absurd claim that there is no bias against conservatives at Google; Emanuel’s announcement that he will not seek reelection has not curbed the gun violence as through December 10, 2018, 2837 people mostly of color have been shot by mostly people of color, of whom 479 have died (when will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of mostly people of color by mostly people of color).
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Helen Reddy, factoids of interest for this day in history, the fact that you are not subject to obduracy in dealing with issues and a relevant quote from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous on helping other alcoholics, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. Weight Is A Fatal Depression--celebrating the birth on this day in 1950 of Christina Onassis who ran the Onassis business empire after the death of Aristotle Onassis but who suffered depression and problems keeping her weight off and endured four divorces and died from a heart attack at the age of 37.

With it you can advert misery and death for them." Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous page 124.
