Our
troops in Iraq and Afghanistan faced many dangers from IED’s and green on blue
shootings to life and limb
Now
after being withdrawn they are facing another danger somewhat grim
On
military bases in Iraq trash, chemicals and medical waste was not buried only
burned
New
medical issues rising up that are raising concern
Troops
were exposed to toxins including dioxin from the smoke from burning pits
Yet
for vets seeking medical treatment for exposure the VA will not admit
Breathing
dioxin produced by burning of trash is like playing Russian roulette
A
host of problems like cancer, autoimmune disorders and liver disease one is
likely to get
Retired
General Petraeus is on a crusade to get the VA to open its treatment doors
They
have a sacred duty to vets not their service related injuries ignore
It
is risky enough to be exposed to limb losing IED’s or to be shot in a green on
blue
But
an outrage to be exposed to a deadly toxic burn pit brew
We
have been done this road before after the Vietnam War
As
dioxin related issues from the use of Agent Orange among returning vets soared
A
class action lawsuit resulted in a settlement of $240 million to the vets
Our
vets from Iraq and Afghanistan should not suffer from a different mindset
Petraeus
is right the VA does have a sacred duty and obligation
Not
to abandon these vets by giving only lip service by what is supposed to be a
grateful nation
