In a Starbucks near the Beach Hut preparing Ridley’s Believe
It or Not
When a band of Ensign students burst through the door and space at my table sought
Such a breath of fresh air
Of course my space I was honored to share
A girl in a White Fox logo and one in a sweat shirt of USC
Several of the young girls wearing braces waiting for Valentine’s Day for their
teeth to be free
So much energy I cannot imagine how high the hurdles would have to be
To somehow block their goals and dreams bolstered by their vim and esprit
One with a mother who lived in Kodiak near Prince William
Sound
Where Grizzlies rule and reign when the salmon abound
Another a potential soccer wizard
This Stanford alum hopes she chooses another ball to drop threes
in a blizzard
Seniors who worry our schools are not turning out the right
stuff
Should be pleased by a chance encounter to know with them the schools are doing
more than enough
