Pete Kaiser is in first out of White Mountain with Joar Ulsom in 2^nd place just 42 minutes behind. Jessie Royer in White Mountain is in

3^nd place with Aily Zirkle in 4^th place in White Mountain 7 hours and 7 minutes behind. Matt Hall in in 5^th place out of Elim with Travis

Beals in 53 minutes behind Hall with Paige Drobny 36 minutes behind Beals with Mitch Seavey 8 minutes behind Drobny with Ramey

Smyth 2 hours 27 minutes behind Seavey with Aaron Burmeister 1 hour 8 minutes behind Smyth. The Barrington Twins Kristi and Anna

have moved into 17^th and 18^th place into Koyuk 1 minute apart. Jeff Deeter is in Koyuk in 20^th place and last musher in the purse with

a 1 hour 23 minute lead on Matthew Failor. In another close race Aaron Peck in 22^nd has a 3 minute lead over Charley Benja with both in

Koyuk. Richie Beatie, the top male rookie is in 25^th place out of Shakloolik tied with Lance Mackey while Jessica Klejka, the top female

rookie is in Unalakleet in 31^st place. In the race to avoid last place, Victoria Hardwick is in 40^th place 3 minutes ahead of Jeremy Keller in

41^st and 4 minutes ahead of Cindy Gallea in last place (these three are bunched together but hopefully the trail is wide enough for sleds

to pass. The number of mushers scratched is holding at 10 but some of these mushers have a long way to go couple with a lot of misery

to reach Nome and claim a check for $1049. While Pete Kaiser is probably 30-40 miles outside of Nome the last three mushers still have

406 miles ahead of them which speaks very well of the mushers who have no chance of being in the purse but endure the lonely trail

In the cold with their dogs as company and why this is known as the Last Great Race on Earth. Another update in the morning which will

probably reveal the top two finishers.
