There are only three mushers on the trail Kristin Bacon in 38th
place in Safety, a few miles from Nome and Cindy Gallea in 39th
place out of White Mountain followed in last place by rookie Victoria Hardwick
out of White Mountain who looks like she has a lock on the Red Lantern and last
place. Our hats should be off to all mushers whether they finished or not. It
says something positive when one is only racing to win, alone with one’s dogs
in the snow, ice and cold and exhausted beyond belief with no fellow humans on
the trail to cheer one on save those at a checkpoint. One more update if
somehow, someway Hardwick avoids last place,
