Ridley’s Believe It Or Not—October 5, 2015 Trust your weekend was a great one and Monday has a great chance to top it  and as always I hope you enjoy Monday’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest, a music video by Elvis Presley,  a relevant quote from Dan Rather, looking forward to enjoying a large serving of apple betties, blessed with a positive attitude and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable event like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
          1. World Teachers Day—celebrating since 1994 the contributions of teachers to the education and role modeling of our children and sadly are paid a fraction of what a large portion of them are worth.
          2. National Blue Shirt Day—celebrating not the Democratic Party but rather those wearing blue shirts to protest bullying; ironic for businesses the biggest bully on the block is the EPA headed by the biggest of the Blues, President Obama.
           3. 1956 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song in 1956 on a run of 11 weeks in that position Don’t Be Cruel by the King, Elvis Presley.  Here is a link to Elvis Presley performing Don’t Be Cruel:
          4.  National Apple Betty Day—celebrating another great way to follow the great commandment for good health—eat an apple a day to keep the doctor away.
           5.  Clothes Make The Man And The Woman Day—celebrating the birthday on this day in 1983 of Nicky Hilton the younger sister of Paris Hilton who has unlike her has managed to not get arrested for DUIs but rather create a clothing line.
On this day in:

Reflections on the Red Moon over the Earth: “The dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called 'truth'.” Dan Rather Most of us can name a teacher who was the guiding light to move us to a higher plane or who was the beacon to steer us from the reefs we needed to avoid.
