March 1, 2021 Ridley's Believe It Or Not National Pig Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not March 1, 2021

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues the new year with  cases now past 114 million at 114,879,017 with 215,223 new cases (a .19% increase) 21,779,148 of which are active, 93,099,869 closed with 90,552,575 recoveries (97.26% and 97.26% yesterday) and 2,546,894 deaths (2.74% and 2.74% yesterday) to continue the trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages with some plateaus.

CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 29 million at 29,247,577 with 28,957 new cases (a .10% increase) with 9,002,688 active cases of which 14,781 (.16% of active cases and a decrease now of 14,490 from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in serious or critical condition, 20,273,846 closures, 526,215 of which have been deaths (2.60% and 2.60% yesterday) and 19,747,631 of which have been recoveries (97.40% and 97.40% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to improve and after many months is now .14% lower than the world rate and now .03% lower than Canada which has the socialized type medicine Biden may well want to implement here  and on a deaths per million population measurement on a steady climb to 1584 ranks behind Belgium (1899), UK (1805) which had passed us despite leading world in testing), Italy (1622), and Portugal (1607) and only slightly worse than  Hungary (1561), Spain (1488), Bulgaria (1474,  Mexico (1430), Peru (13971), France (1328), Sweden (1265) that never closed its economy down like we did but has recently been experiencing a rapid rise in  deaths, Brazil (1194),  Poland (1158), Switzerland (1147), Argentina (1143), Chile (1075), and Bolivia (989) and we have now conducted  359,641,568 tests (now at 1,082,317/M) compared to Russia at 762,454/M) as we are conducting  more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark,  Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains off the testing charts with tests at 1,332,004/M.

US Vaccinations: In the U.S. as of 3/1/2021 74.9 million doses have been given, 1.82 million per day in the last week (sounds impressive but if the rate does not increase it will take us some 7 months to have 75% of the population vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity. In California 9,106,077 total doses have been given ( 78.6% of doses received), but typical of Newsom’s ineptness and because more than 1.5 million recall signatures have been turned in, due to the power of growing signatures on his recall petition, California improved from 38th to 37th  out of 50 in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states. A long way to go to get herd immunity and little improvement relative to other states and a great reason to recall this inept governor. As of 3/1/2021 in California we have reduced hospitalizations to 5,674 with COVID-19 patients hospitalized occupying 9.4% of all hospital beds.

Non CV Case News: It looks like the dam is breaking as a third woman has come out claiming Cuomo tried to kiss her at 2019 wedding and more and more Blues are jumping like rats from Cuomo’s sinking sexual harassment ship as De Blasio is attacking him and claiming he has witnessed his abusive behavior, Clinton is calling for an independent investigation and even Biden beholding to Cuomo for his support has joined in the call (Biden is probably jumping for joy that focus on Cuomo will cause people to forget Tara Reade’s accusations against him; Cuomo must now realize that his “just kidding around” defense is not going to fly and has hired a criminal defense lawyer to defend himself against the expanding sexual harassment claims (wonder in another shoe will drop compliments of Cuomo’s former wife over his behavior that caused the breakup of their marriage); the recently confirmed head of DHS is claiming there is not crisis at the border which seems to fly in the face of reality as illegals are streaming across the border despite warnings of CBP and ICE agents on the ground;  Niki Haley who would chew Kamala Harris up and spit her out looks like she is back in the Trump fold praising him after his CPAC speech praising his accomplishments (should be clear Reds will need a strong female on the 2024 ticket against an almost certainty 25th Amendment in place Harris; Witless Whitmer who believes in hiding the truth on CV deaths and refuses to release data to the public will be soon facing litigation from Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Charlie LeDuff to force disclosure (this pathetic and inept governor is about as transparent as a lead shield); it seems sadly that hazing of pledges in fraternities is alive and well as at the Delta Chi chapter at Virginia Commonwealth University was forced to drink a fifth of Jack Daniels, blindfolded which caused him to hit a tree with his head and then deposited on a couch where he was found dead in the morning (in a too little too late move the university suspended the chapter and its national chapter issued a cease and desist against hazing); Ex CIA Director made a fool of himself once again during a MSNBC interview claiming he was ashamed of his “whiteness” actually causing the leftist host Nicolle Wallace to openly laugh at him; L.A. DA Gascon whose soft of criminal policies have sparked outrage in the community and among career prosecutors and members of law enforcement fortunately is facing a recall drive in which backers need 600,000 signatures https://recallgeorgegascon.com/; leave it to a political cartoonist to expose the  Doctor Fauci flip flops on when masks will no longer be needed: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cartoons-slideshow: although 80% of the recall Newsom signatures have been verified, signature drive continues to insure a recall in the event that any of the 1.5 million signatures already received are not valid to insure Newsom is put on a recall ballot where he needs to be given his unmitigated ineptness: https://recallgavin2020.com/petition/

Chicago Gun Violence: HeyJackass.com is back to show that through February 27, 2021,  gun violence involving mostly persons of color shooting persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 434 persons shot of whom 87 have died.

Here is a recording of “Jeepers Creepers” by Al Donahue and His Orchestra with Paula Kelly on vocals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fG7r7TyinJ0 Donahue was a violinist with his own orchestra who recorded copiously in the 30’s and early 40’s and after the war was a fixture on cruise ships and retired to own a music shop in Bermuda until taken by eminent domain. He died on February 20, 1983 at 79. Kelly was a big band singer w who became the sole female singer on the quintet the Modernaires and was active until 1978 and passed in a Costa Mesa convalescent home on April 2, 1992 at age 72.

          4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “quippery” which means the act of making quips.

          5. Padding to the English Language--celebrating the birth on this day in 1927 of noted jurist and Yale Law School Professor who was nominated to SCOTUS by President Reagan but whose nomination was defeated by the Senate giving rise to the term “bork” which means to defeat the nomination of someone for a political position by harsh unfair criticism.

          On this day in:

Reflections on one of Stalin’s wise observations that must have taken root in Pelosi’s soul: “It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.”Joseph Stalin
