March 21, 2021 Ridley's Believe It Or Not World Poetry Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not March 21, 2021

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues the new year with cases now over 123 million at 122,818,961 with 892,988 new cases (a .73% increase) 21,320,382 which are active, 102,391,567 closed with 99,666,415 recoveries (97.34% and 97.34% yesterday) and 2,725,152 deaths (2.66% and 2.66% yesterday) to continue the trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages with some plateaus.

CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 30 million at 30,494,601 with 77,398 new cases (a .25% increase) with 7,239,220 active cases of which 8,721 (.12% of active cases and back to daily decreases and a now a decrease now of 20,550 from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in serious or critical condition, 23,255,381 closures, 554,989 of which have been deaths (2.39% and 2.39% yesterday) and 22,700,392 of which have been recoveries (97.61% and 97.61% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to improve and after many months is now .27% lower than the world rate and now .13% lower than Canada which has the socialized type medicine Biden may well want to implement here but at least has approved 4 vaccines as opposed to our 3  and on a deaths per million population measurement on a steady climb to 1670 ranks behind Belgium (1948), Hungary (1894), UK (1851) which had passed us despite leading world in testing),  Italy (1738), and Bulgaria (1732) and only slightly worse than Portugal (1647), Spain (1559),  Mexico (1523), Peru (1504), France (1410), Brazil (1371), Sweden (1307) that never closed its economy down like we did but has recently been experiencing a steady rise in  deaths,   Poland (1304), Argentina (1198), Switzerland (1174), Chile (1158), and Bolivia (1022) and we have now conducted  388,878,098 tests (now at 1,169,930/M) compared to number 2 now France at  894,789/M) as we are conducting  more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark,  Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains off the testing charts with tests at 1,650,869/M.
CV Open Gate: Lost in the pronouncements by Biden and his lackeys that there is no crisis of illegals surging across the border is that fact that COVID-19 is alive and well and spreading in the Northern Triangle and Mexico which is 9th on my list of deaths from the pandemic at 1523/M and the 3 countries in the Northern Triangle in terms of active cases and deaths per million are as follows:

          Guatemala:  Active cases:  10,352        Deaths/M 369
          Honduras:     Active cases: 108,396      Deaths/M 441
          El Salvador:   Active cases:       684       Deaths/M 304

US Vaccinations: In the U.S. as of 3/21/2021 124 million doses have been given, 2.49 million per day in the last week (sounds impressive but if the rate does not increase it will take us now reduced to some 5 months to have 75% of the population vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity. In California 14,708,175 total doses have been given (77.9% of doses received to again remain below U.S. average of 79.4%), but with the pressure of a certain recall coming endangering Newsom, California has moved from 36th to 35th  out of 50 in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states and at 12.6% of its population fully vaccinated has moved from 42nd to 39th in terms of percentage of residents vaccinated. A long way to go to get herd immunity and lagging behind in terms of getting vaccines received into arms and percentage of population vaccinated compared to other states and a great reason to recall this inept governor.

Non CV Case News: Thanks to Biden’s open invitation to illegals and his amnesty plan, we are running out of room on the border to hold the tidal wave so Biden will be spending nearly $100 million to house them in hotels while thousands of our fellow Americans are living in the feces, urine, rats, used needles and trash in the streets (change the greeting tune for this fading mental chief https://alaskanpoet.blogspot.com/2021/03/for-biden-play-not-here-comes-chief.html; the border continues to disappear and the nation along with it as the CBP is releasing illegal aliens into the interior without an asylum court hearing date (probably recognizing the reality that most illegals never appear as it its getting easier for illegals to stay here without fear of deportation); Majorakis has proven after he was dragged kicking and screaming that the border surge of illegals was more than a challenge but shows he like most in Biden’s Administration has TDS Stage 4 as he has the inanity to claim that the border surge is Trump’s fault; Trump is blasting Biden for the surge in illegals which is causing death and human tragedy while Biden says he will visit the border at some time not now because “he knows what’s going on at those facilities (strange words from a man who doesn’t know who his appointees often are); while the pandemic may have brought out the best in us struggling to survive and help others survive it has also brought out the worst of us who populate our criminal population with a study finding some $200 billion in unemployment benefits fraud during the pandemic; in another example of the rabid intolerance of the left and their stupidity , guest columnist John McCall of the Ocean City Sentinel left a threatening voice mail on the answering machine of Red Rep from New Jersey Jeff Van Drew who had the temerity to vote against the confirmation by the Electoral College of Biden’s election that McCall would “do everything in my power to ensure you are deposed if not dead” (when will the FBI be knocking on this idiot’s door?); Trump backed the widow of Congressman-Elect Lettow in Louisiana who died after being elected from COVID-19 and she won;  we can breath easier as mile long Asteroid 2001 F032 missed Earth by over a million miles on Sunday; backers of a recall effort for L.A. DA Gascon have formally started the process and have started the 160 day clock to obtain 580,000 signatures of registered voters to place a recall on the ballot https://recallgeorgegascon.com/; as Minneapolis girds for the start of the George Floyd police causing death trial leave it to the political cartoonist to capture the fears of small business owners over the lack of police protection in a riot follows a not guilty verdict: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cartoons-slideshow.
Chicago Gun Violence: HeyJackass.com is back to show that through March 20, 2021,  gun violence involving mostly persons of color shooting persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 630 persons shot of whom 112 have died.

          a. 1937 in Ponce, Puerto Rico a peaceful demonstration of unarmed civilians celebrating the end of slavery on the island in 1873 by Spain and to protest the imprisonment on the leader of the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party Pedro Albizu Campos on charges of sedition was broken up by police gunfire under the orders of Governor Blanton Winship, killing 21, 2 of whom were police shot by fellow officers by mistake and wounding some 200 people. Despite the outrage Winship was only removed as governor and no police officer was dismissed or charged with a crime.

          b. 1943 Wehrmacht officer Rudolf Gerdsdorff armed with two suicide bombs plotted to kill Adolf Hitler while he was visiting a museum honoring German dead of WWI but after setting the fuses for ten minutes Hitler left sooner than anticipated sadly for the German people but Gerdsdorff was able to defuse the bombs in a public bathroom and was shortly sent back to the Russian Front where he escaped suspicion. He survived the war to be employed in collaborating in an extensive study of German responses to D-Day and the Normandy Campaign for the American Army but was unable to join the Bundeswehr.

          c. 1960 at Sharpeville, South Africa, police opened fire on blacks demonstrating against apartheid, killing 69 and wounding 180 with many of the shot victims shot in the back as they tried to flee.

          d. 1970 the first Earth Day Proclamation was issued by San Francisco Mayor Joseph Alioto.

          e. 2006 to the future bane of conservatives Jack Dorsey launched Twitter, now infamous and despised for banning conservative office holders, authors and public figures from Twitter.

Reflections on the Sharpeville Massacre that led to the galvanizing of world opinion against South Africa and its policy of apartheid: ”Before the shooting, I heard no warning to the crowd to disperse. There was no warning volley. When the shooting started it did not stop until there was no living thing in the huge compound in front of the police station. The police have claimed they were in desperate danger because the crowd was stoning them. Yet only three policemen were reported to have been hit by stones - and more than 200 Africans were shot down. The police also have said that the crowd was armed with 'ferocious weapons', which littered the compound after they fled.

I saw no weapons, although I looked very carefully, and afterwards studied the photographs of the death scene. While I was there I saw only shoes, hats and a few bicycles left among the bodies. The crowd gave me no reason to feel scared, though I moved among them without any distinguishing mark to protect me, quite obvious with my white skin. I think the police were scared though, and I think the crowd knew it.” Humphrey Tyler, assistant editor, Drum magazine, present at the massacre
