Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For October
19, 2018 Ocasio-Cortez the new darling on the socialist left has failed to endorse Bernie Sanders in
his quest for a presidential run in 2020; Beto O’Rourke in a close race with
Senator Ted Cruz has come out with a claim that he would vote yes for impeachment
of President Trump (hopefully a wakeup call for Reds to come to the polls to vote
against this despicable leftist); the caravan from Honduras of illegal aliens
has swelled to 4,000 as Mexico has asked the UN for help in setting up refugee
camps on its southern border to sort out refugee asylum claims (if this
nonsense is not stopped watch for a flood of hundreds of thousands to try to
cross into this nation); USC is in the headlines not over its football program
but the fact that over 100 female students have sued the university over sexual
misconduct of its gynecologist in its student health program; ICE the agency
the left wants to abolish announced it had captured its most wanted fugitive in
Louisiana wanted for child abuse along
with another 98 illegal alien criminals many of whom had been previously deported
(any Blue who voted against Kate’s Law deserves a no vote for protecting these
scumbags); ultra leftist late night show host Jimmy Kimmel trolled New York
residents with a fallacious claim that the Lincoln Center was going to be
renamed after Trump; on the pedophile abuse front the feds have announced an
investigation of the Catholic Church in Pennsylvania over sexual abuse charges of
minors; on the Charlie is a criminal front, Starkist has plead guilty to price
fixing to keep the price of canned tuna high; Emanuel’s announcement that he
will not seek reelection has not curbed the gun violence as through October 17,
2018, 2446 people mostly of color have been shot by mostly people of color, of
whom 404 have died (when will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this
the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to
the slaughter of mostly people of color by mostly people of color).
As always,
I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Maroon
5, factoids of interest for this day in history, the fact that you are not
guilty of napotation and a relevant quote from Elizabeth Hurley on breast
cancer, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any
memorable events like college graduations, birthdays, weddings,
or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a
unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the
recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. National Mammography Day—created by Bill Clinton in 1993 to urge women over 40 to have a
mammogram to detect breast cancer, one of the most deadly cancers after lung
cancer.
2. World Pediatric Joint and Bone Day—created to create
awareness of the musculoskeletal issues children face and educate the public on
children’s musculosketatal issues.
3. 2012 Number One Song— the number one song in 2012 on a run of 9 weeks in that
position was “One More Night” by Maroon 5. Here is a recording of the
song:

4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day as we move from words beginning with
“m” to words beginning with “n” is “nepotation” which means riotous
behavior which is something we are seeing more and more of from the left.
5. Children’s Crusader Into Incest—celebrating the birth on this day in
1936 of James Bevel, a minister who was active with Martin Luther King in the Civil Rights Movement but who was
convicted of having incest with one of his daughters.
On this day in:
a. 1950 China entered the Korean War by sending thousands of
troops across the Yalu River to fight United Nations forces.
b. 1960 the United States imposed a near total trade embargo on Cuba.
c. 1973 President Nixon rejected an Appeals Court ruling that he
turn over the Watergate Tapes.
d. 1987 the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 508 points (22%).
e. 2005 Saddam Hussein went on trial in Baghdad.
Reflections on breast cancer: “Breast cancer is being detected at an
earlier, more treatable stage these days, largely because women are taking more
preventive measures, like self-exams and regular mammograms. And treatment is
getting better too.” Elizabeth
Hurley, noted British actress.
