In the Women’s Elite two Cardinals met, one a color the other a
bird
The one from Louisville was netting threes at a pace that seemed absurd
Stanford’s leading scorer had her shooter’s touch bail
Sure looked in the first half than Stanford’s path to the Final four was doomed
to fail
Down by 12 at the end of the half , the biggest ever deficit this year
More so than ever the team needed some
motivating thoughts by Tara Van Deveer
Not sure what to the team that she and
the coaches said
We are not going to lose, tighter defense and shoot to victory instead
The Color came out in the third with a defense obsessed
The early wide open threes were now under stress
Stanford regained the lead and lost it to at the end of the third to trail
But in the fourth the winds of upset went out of Louisville’s sails
The winds of freedom were now blowing threes
And the winds of defense shut down the bird shooters from running free
A well fought comeback from a team that depth
of talent does not lack
Now faces South Carolina who the offense
of Texas totally stuffed and sacked
With the zones meaning PAC 12 games are too often past sportswriters’ deadlines
Would be so refreshing if Championship Game was a PAC 12 Stanford v. Arizona

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not March 25, 2021
CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the
planet continues the new year with cases now over 126 million at 125,031,604
with 850,683 new cases (a .68% increase) 21,568,131 which are active,
104,463,473 closed with 101,697,176 recoveries (97.35% and 97.35% yesterday)
and 2,766,297 deaths (2.65% and 2.65% yesterday) to continue the trend of
increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death
percentages with some plateaus.
CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 30
million at 30,767,889 with 83,312 new cases (a .27% increase) with 7,015,921
active cases of which 8,699 (.12% of active cases and with slight 2 day blip up
and now a decrease of 20,572 from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in
serious or critical condition, 23,751,968 closures, 559,604 of which
have been deaths (2.36% and 2.36% yesterday) and 23,192,364 of which have
been recoveries (97.64% and 97.64% yesterday). Our death rate percentage
continues to improve and after many months is now .29% lower than the world
rate and now .14% lower than Canada which has the socialized type medicine
Biden may well want to implement here but at least has approved 4 vaccines as
opposed to our 3 and on a deaths per million population measurement
on a steady climb to 1683 ranks behind Hungary the new number 1 (1994), Belgium
(1958), UK (1856) which had passed us despite leading world in testing),
Bulgaria (1811), and Italy (1768), and only slightly worse than Portugal (1652),
Spain (1591), Mexico (1537), Peru (1521), France (1428), Brazil (1422),Poland
(1345), Sweden (1318) that never closed its economy down like we did but has
recently been experiencing a steady rise in deaths, (1345),
Argentina (1219), Switzerland (1182), Chile (1171), and Bolivia (1027) and we
have now conducted 395,165,054 tests (now at 1,188,568/M) compared to number 2
now France at 939,884/M) as we are
conducting more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all
nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain,
Denmark, Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which
remains as king of the mountain with respect to tests at 1,762,926/M.
CV Open Gate: Lost in the
pronouncements by Biden and his lackeys that there is no crisis of illegals
surging across the border is that fact that COVID-19 is alive and well and spreading
in the Northern Triangle and Mexico which is 9th on my list of
deaths from the pandemic at 1532/M and the 3 countries in the Northern Triangle
in terms of active cases and deaths per million are as follows even though the
data may be suspect as underreported:
Guatemala: Active cases: 10,677
Deaths/M 373
Honduras: Active cases: 110,380 Deaths/M 450
El Salvador: Active cases: 767
Deaths/M 306
US Vaccinations: In the U.S. as of 3/25/2021
133 million doses have been given, 2.51 million per day in the last week
(sounds impressive but if the rate does not increase it will take us now
reduced to some 5 months to have 75% of the population vaccinated which many
believe is necessary to develop herd immunity. In California 16,062,266 total
doses have been given (76.7% of doses received to almost equal the U.S. average
of 76.8%), but with the pressure of a certain recall coming endangering Newsom,
California has improved to tied with South Carolina at 32nd from 35th out of 50 in terms of the percentage of doses
administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states and at 13.9%% of
its population fully vaccinated has moved down from 39th to 42nd
out of the 50 states in terms of percentage
of population fully vaccinated in terms of percentage of residents vaccinated. A
long way to go to get herd immunity and lagging behind in terms of getting
vaccines received into arms and percentage of population vaccinated compared to
other states and a great reason to recall this inept governor.
Non CV Case News: Our president
who claimed he was in the Senate 120 years ago had his first press conference
but refused to take any question from Fox and predictably had leftist
journalists praising his performance as hitting it out of the park (which
perhaps is easy to when either the questions are known in advance or the ball
is on a tee); too bad the camera was not on the eyes of Kamala Harris that
probably were rolling upwards when Biden expressed his thoughts on running
again when he will be 82 (mentally he seems he has passed that age by at least
20 years today); photos revealed in his scripted press conference that Biden is
probably the first president in history to have to rely upon crib sheets to try
to conceal his lapses, mental wanderings and cognitive difficulties (sadly the
Chinese, North Koreans and Russians must have been watching and licking their
chops over the weak and feeble president we are burdened with; D.A. Gascon must feel he is immune to recall
wrath as in another soft on crime hard on victims’ rights to safety, he
declined to prosecute a rabid gang member who shot and killed a 40 year old man
whose only crime was to be in a car that had broken down (this Soros funded “D.A.”
in name only when it comes to citizen needs to be recalled); the Blue Botox
Queen has come out to blast the Newsom Recall as a Trump back ploy and
dismissed any need for the Blues to run a backup candidate (hope this arrogance
and cockiness she will choke on); the University of Southern California trying
to purge itself of being known as the University of Sexist Concealment has
agreed to pay $858 million to some 700 female plaintiffs who had alleged sexual
abuse claims against USC staff doctor George Tyndall who had worked there for
almost 3 decades and has been charged with
35 counts of sexual misconduct conduct free on bail awaiting trial which
if convicted could result in a 64 year prison sentence; backers of a recall
effort for L.A. DA Gascon have formally started the process and have started
the 160 day clock to obtain 580,000 signatures of registered voters to place a
recall on the ballot https://recallgeorgegascon.com/; as ratings of CNN
and MSNBC fall like hot air balloons without hot air to keep them up, leave it
to the political cartoonist to capture their rating fall with lack of fake news
to spread about Trump: https://www..com

Chicago Gun Violence: HeyJackass.com is
back to show that through March 24, 2021, gun violence involving
mostly persons of color shooting persons of color in Chicago is alive and well
with 672 persons shot of whom 124 have died.
As always, I

knowledge that if you want to send a gift for any memorable events like
Mother’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries,

1. Medal of Honor Day—created by a law
enacted on November 15, 1990 and first celebrated on March 25, 1991 to honor
recipients of the Medal of Honor first bestowed for exceptional bravery during
the Civil War on this day in 1863 for 6 Union Army soldiers who participated in
the Great Locomotive Chase.
2. EU Talent Day—celebrated on the
birthday of noted Hungarian composer and pianist Bartók Béla to promote
recognition of the importance of artistic talent for society, its culture and
well being and to encourage the development of talent throughout the EU.
3. 1957 Number One
Song—the
number 1 song in 1957 on this day with a run of 4 weeks in that position was “Young
Love” by the Tab Hunter to share number 1 status with 21 other songs
that year. Here is a recording of “Young
Love “ by Tab Hunter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5LRe4xecZQ
Hunter was a noted singer and heart throb of the 50’s and 60’s and who was a
closet gay who came out in his 2007 autobiography and married his partner of 30
years, Phil Glaser, in 2013.
4. Word
of the Day—today’s word of the day is “randan” which means uproar or riotous
conduct which residents of Minneapolis hope they will not see following the end
of the Minneapolis officers charged in George Floyd’s death which starts next
week.
5. Hard Woman to
Pass—celebrating
the birth on this day in 1982 of noted IndyCar and stock car racer Danica
Patrick who was the first woman to win an IndyCar race and retired with the
highest Indianapolis 500 standing for a woman and after retirement has her own
winery and is a commercial spokesperson for number companies including Go
Daddy.Com and Lyft.
On
this day in:
a. 1931 9 African
Americans who became known as the Scottsboro Boys were arrested in Scottsboro,
Alabama and charged with raping 2 white women; found guilty the trial and the
subsequent retrials provide a real case of racism and lack of justice which
hopefully we as a nation have moved from.
b. 1948 after analyzing weather data
from a tornado that had hit Tinker Air Force Base on the 20th and
comparing the data to what was occurring the morning of the 25th, meteorologists
made a tornado forecast warning of tornadoes to hit the base later in the
day which occurred making the forecast the first successful tornado forecast in
history.
c. 1979
the world’s first reusable rocket ship, the Space Shuttle Columbia was delivered
to the JFK Space Center to be readied to be launched into space.
d. 1995 the
world became a smaller place as WikiWikiWeb the first wiki was released to the
public by Ward Cunningham.
e. 1996 in a move
that probably warmed the cockles of EU vegetarians, the EU banned the import of
British beef due to outbreaks of mad cow disease in the U.K.
Reflections on the
miscarriages of justice occurring in the trials of the Scottsboro Boys: "The
testimony of the prosecutrix in this case is not only uncorroborated, but it
also bears on its face indications of improbability and is contradicted by
other evidence, and in addition thereto the evidence greatly preponderates in
favor of the defendant. It therefore becomes the duty of the Court under the
law to grant the motion made in this case." --Judge Horton granting the
defense motion to set aside the death sentence and verdict in Alabama v
Patterson (Record, 6/22/33)
"There
shouldn't be any trial for them damn niggers-- thirty cents worth of rope would
do the work and it wouldn't cost the county much." --Decatur lunchroom
proprietor (Goodman, 211)
"We all have a
passion, all the men in this courtroom, and that is to protect the womanhood of
the state of Alabama." -- Prosecutor Knight addressing the jury in the
third Patterson trial, Nov. 30, 1933
"He couldn't
get us to the chair fast enough." -- Haywood Patterson commenting on Judge
Callahan (NY Times, 1/22/36)
"Do not
quibble over the evidence: Say to yourselves we're tired of this job and put it
behind you. Get it done quick and protect the fair womanhood of this
state."-- Prosecutor Hutson addressing the jury in the fourth Patterson
trial (NY Times, 1/23/36)

Non CV Case News: Cruz who like
all Senators and Representatives have been vaccinated when asked by a reporter
to put on a mask, in a polite “go pound sand” moment told the reporter he could
step back; in news that should not surprise us concerning a governor with
integrity and ethics in the pits and an arrogance and ego of an Emperor without
clothes, Cuomo was issuing orders to allow his relatives to jump the line to
get scarce CV tests; Cuomo’s reputation of being a bully seems vindicated as
the nursing home operator whistle blower who warned of the Cuomo’s policy of
sending CV infected into nursing homes to infect residents was ridiculous and
who appeared on Fox News was the subject of a surprise visit (coincidence or
retaliation?); dementia is causing Biden’s departure from reality to more
quickly widen as he is now making the inane claim that the illegal alien surge
started with Trump (look at the facts Joe and the impact of the stay in Mexico
policies that you scrapped to spike the illegal alien wave); Rachel Levine, the
first openly transgender was confirmed by the Senate 52-48 to serve in the DHHS;
Biden is finally going to hold a press conference amidst speculation where the
press will be able to place their tees for their what is expected to be other
than from Fox only T-Ball questions, not even softball ones; VP Harris who
believes to her very core of an open border has been selected by Biden as his Illegal
Alien Migration Crisis Czar ( what a travesty what a joke); backers of a recall

1. World TB Day—celebrating one of
the 11 UN Public Health Days to promote awareness of tuberculosis and the means
to treating it successfully.
2. American Red
Cross Giving Day—celebrated on the 4th Wednesday of March to promote financial support of the Red Cross,
a vital line of defense to man made and naturals disasters.
3. 1956 Number One
Song—the
number 1 song in 1956 on this day with a run of4 weeks in that position was “The

status with 16 other songs that year.
Here is a recording of “The Poor People of Paris” by Les Baxter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkYWXAN_W5g
Baxter was a singer, pianist, composer, orchestra leader and creator of the genre
exotica music who died on January 15, 1996 at age 73.
4. Word
of the Day—today’s word of the day is “rampallion” which means a scoundrel or
villain which would be good word to use in describing too many on the
Progressive wing of the Blues.
5. In the Genes Times
Three—celebrating
the birth on this day in 1976 of noted professional quarterback Peyton Manning
whose father Archie was a professional quarterback as was his younger brother
Eli and who was drafted by the Colts in the first round in 1998 and turned the
franchise around and ended his career with the Denver Broncos with 2 Super Bowl
rings.
On
this day in:
a. 1882
Robert Koch announced the discovery of the mycobacterium
Tuberculosis, which caused the deadly disease tuberculosis and laid the
path to a discovery of drugs to treat it some 67 years later.
b. 1921 in a great move for women’s
sports the 1921 Women’s Olympiad, the first international women’s sporting
event began in Monte Carlo.
c. 1944 76 Allied POW’s in Stalag Luft III
began breaking out via an underground tunnel dug literally under the noses of
the Germans, but 73 of these were caught and 50 of these executed by a vengeful
Hitler. The event somewhat fictionalized was memorialized by the movie The Great Escape, starring Steve McQueen,
James Garner and Richard Attenborough.
d. 1989 the
Exxon Valdez, shortly after loading
oil from the Trans Alaska Pipeline, ran aground in Prince Williams Sound, prime
commercial fishing waters, to spill 257,000 barrels of crude oil to create a
massive oil spill to coat miles of beaches and cost Exxon billions in clean up
costs and damages assessed against it for the spill.
e. 1998 Mitchell
Johnson and Andrew Golden, age 11 and 13 respectively, opened fire on teachers
and students at Westside Middle School, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, killing 5 and wounding
10 before being apprehended. After convictions each was released after they
turned 21 but Johnson returned to spend time in prison for other criminal
activity with Golden being killed in a head on traffic collision on July 27,2019.
Reflections on the mobility
of viruses across borders: “Reports of illegal migrants carrying deadly
diseases such as swine flu, dengue fever, Ebola virus and tuberculosis are
particularly concerning.” Phil Gingrey, former Red Congressman from Georgia and
a practicing doctor who would today at COVID-19 to his list of disease concerns
being carried by illegal aliens.

continues to disappear and the nation along with it as the CBP is releasing
illegal aliens into the interior without an asylum court hearing date (probably
recognizing the reality that most illegals never appear as it its getting
easier for illegals to stay here without fear of deportation); Majorakis has
proven after he was dragged kicking and screaming that the border surge of
illegals was more than a challenge but shows he like most in Biden’s
Administration has TDS Stage 4 as he has the inanity to claim that the border
surge is Trump’s fault; Trump is blasting Biden for the surge in illegals which
is causing death and human tragedy while Biden says he will visit the border at
some time not now because “he knows what’s going on at those facilities
(strange words from a man who doesn’t know who his appointees often are); while
the pandemic may have brought out the best in us struggling to survive and help
others survive it has also brought out the worst of us who populate our criminal
population with a study finding some $200 billion in unemployment benefits
fraud during the pandemic; in another example of the rabid intolerance of the
left and their stupidity , guest columnist John McCall of the Ocean City Sentinel left a threatening
voice mail on the answering machine of Red Rep from New Jersey Jeff Van Drew
who had the temerity to vote against the confirmation by the Electoral College
of Biden’s election that McCall would “do everything in my power to ensure you
are deposed if not dead” (when will the FBI be knocking on this idiot’s door?);

in the knowledge that if you want to send a gift for any memorable events

1. World Poetry Day—created by UNESCO
in 1999 to promote the Alaskanpoet’s favorite subject and hobby poetry in all
its splendid forms from free verse to rhymes.
2. World Down
Syndrome Day—first observed in 2006 to promote awareness of Down Syndrome, a
condition caused by a child being born with an extra 21st chromosome.
3. 1954 Number One
Song—the
number 1 song in 1954 on this day with a run of 1 weeks in that position was “Secret
Love” by Doris Day to
share number 1 status with 9 other songs that year. Here is a recording of “Secret Love” by Doris
Day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiueIiFJdN8
Day was a noted and prolific singer,
actress on the silver screen and TV and in her later years a passionate animal
activist. She passed away on May 13,
2019 after contracting pneumonia at age 97.
4. Word
of the Day—today’s word of the day is “ragmatical” which means wild or
ill-behaved, exactly the sort of behavior one should want to shy away from.
5. In the Genes—celebrating the
birth on this day in 1986 noted actor Scott Clinton Reeves who is also the son
of Clint Eastwood and who has a lengthy list of movie roles but unlike his
father no stints as a director yet.
On this day
in:
a. 1937 in
Ponce, Puerto Rico a peaceful demonstration of unarmed civilians celebrating
the end of slavery on the island in 1873 by Spain and to protest the
imprisonment on the leader of the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party Pedro Albizu
Campos on charges of sedition was broken up by police gunfire under the orders
of Governor Blanton Winship, killing 21, 2 of whom were police shot by fellow
officers by mistake and wounding some 200 people. Despite the outrage Winship
was only removed as governor and no police officer was dismissed or charged
with a crime.
b. 1943 Wehrmacht officer Rudolf Gerdsdorff
armed with two suicide bombs plotted to kill Adolf Hitler while he was visiting
a museum honoring German dead of WWI but after setting the fuses for ten
minutes Hitler left sooner than anticipated sadly for the German people but Gerdsdorff
was able to defuse the bombs in a public bathroom and was shortly sent back to
the Russian Front where he escaped suspicion. He survived the war to be employed
in collaborating in an extensive study of German responses to D-Day and the
Normandy Campaign for the American Army but was unable to join the Bundeswehr.
c. 1960 at Sharpeville, South Africa, police
opened fire on blacks demonstrating against apartheid, killing 69 and wounding
180 with many of the shot victims shot in the back as they tried to flee.
d. 1970 the
first Earth Day Proclamation was issued by San Francisco Mayor Joseph Alioto.
e. 2006 to the
future bane of conservatives Jack Dorsey launched Twitter, now infamous and despised
for banning conservative office holders, authors and public figures from
Twitter.
Reflections on the
Sharpeville Massacre that led to the galvanizing of world opinion against South
Africa and its policy of apartheid: ”Before the shooting, I heard no warning to
the crowd to disperse. There was no warning volley. When the shooting started
it did not stop until there was no living thing in the huge compound in front
of the police station. The police have claimed they were in desperate danger
because the crowd was stoning them. Yet only three policemen were reported to
have been hit by stones - and more than 200 Africans were shot down. The police
also have said that the crowd was armed with 'ferocious weapons', which
littered the compound after they fled.
I saw no weapons, although I looked
very carefully, and afterwards studied the photographs of the death scene.
While I was there I saw only shoes, hats and a few bicycles left among the
bodies. The crowd gave me no reason to feel scared, though I moved among them
without any distinguishing mark to protect me, quite obvious with my white
skin. I think the police were scared though, and I think the crowd knew it.” Humphrey
Tyler, assistant editor, Drum magazine, present
at the massacre

For Biden Play Not "Here Comes The Chief " Rather Play "The World Turned Upside Down"
When Lord Cornwallis surrendered to us at Yorktown
His army stacked their weapons to “The World Turned Upside Down”
Should replace now “Here Comes the Chief”
As Biden’s open border amnesty is bringing us great grief
Thousands of Americans are homeless living on sidewalks and the streets
The lucky ones have tents or spaces under over passes so avoid rain to meet
Rats the size of footballs carrying disease dart and dash
Americans living in squalor in the feces and urine soaked trash
The tidal wave of illegals have swamped the
spaces to them confine
So Biden’s inane solution is to spend millions to put them in hotels once they
have illegally crossed our border line
Watching Biden whether without a teleprompter or his crib sheet trying to speak
Is the sad sight of cognitive neurons in full on fading quickly leak
At least when years ago Wilson by a stroke was mentally laid low
We knew that Edith his wife who sheltered him for action was where you had to
go
We know not who is in charge as still from the press and people Biden’s hidin’
As the gap between what mental prowess is needed and what’s there widens
Good chance it’s Schumer, Sanders, Harris,
Warren and Pelosi
Supported in spades by the leftist Squad and the likes of AOC
This poet for one will miss the pomp of “Here Comes the Chief” tune
Saddened beyond belief we have a president who is stumbling, mental buffoon

March 20, 2021 Ridley's Beleive It Or Not Vernal Equinox
Ridley’s Believe It Or Not March 20, 2021
CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the
planet continues the new year with cases now over 122 million at 122,818,961
with 586,151 new cases (a .48% increase) 21,289,308 which are active,
102,115,804 closed with 99,394,812 recoveries (97.34% and 97.33% yesterday) and
2,720,992 deaths (2.66% and 2.67% yesterday) to continue the trend of increased
cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages
with some plateaus.
CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 30
million at 30,417,203 with 60.456 new cases (a .20% increase) with 7,243,670
active cases of which 8,715 (.12% of active cases and back to daily decreases
and a now a decrease now of 20,556 from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in
serious or critical condition, 23,233,989 closures, 554,794 of which
have been deaths (2.39% and 2.39% yesterday) and 22,679,195 of which have
been recoveries (97.61% and 97.61% yesterday). Our death rate percentage
continues to improve and after many months is now .27% lower than the world
rate and now .14% lower than Canada which has the socialized type medicine
Biden may well want to implement here but at least has approved 4 vaccines as
opposed to our 3 and on a deaths per million population measurement
on a steady climb to 1669 ranks behind Belgium (1948), Hungary (1874), UK (1851)
which had passed us despite leading world in testing), Italy (1733), and Bulgaria (1731) and only
slightly worse than Portugal (1647), Spain (1559), Mexico (1519), Peru
(1493), France (1410), Brazil (1370), Sweden (1307) that never closed its
economy down like we did but has recently been experiencing a steady rise
in deaths, Poland (1300), Argentina (1198) Switzerland
(1173), Chile (1153), and Bolivia (1022) and we have now conducted 388,653,070
tests (now at 1,169,271/M) compared to number 2 now France at 894,795/M) as we are
conducting more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all
nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain,
Denmark, Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which
remains off the testing charts with tests at 1,650,892/M.
CV Open Gate: Lost in the
pronouncements by Biden and his lackeys that there is no crisis of illegals
surging across the border is that fact that COVID-19 is alive and well and
spreading in the Northern Triangle and Mexico which is 9th on my
list of deaths from the pandemic at 1519/M and the 3 countries in the Northern
Triangle in terms of active cases and deaths per million are as follows:
Guatemala: Active cases: 9894 Deaths/M 368
Honduras: Active cases: 107,830 Deaths/M 441
El Salvador: Active cases: 980 Deaths/M
303
US Vaccinations: In the U.S. as of 3/20/2021
121 million doses have been given, 2.25 million per day in the last week
(sounds impressive but if the rate does not increase it will take us now
reduced to some 5 months to have 75% of the population vaccinated which many
believe is necessary to develop herd immunity. In California 14,276,195 total
doses have been given (75.6% of doses received to again remain below U.S.
average of 77.5%), but with the pressure of a certain recall coming endangering
Newsom, California has remained at 36th out of 50 in terms of the
percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the
states and at 12.1% of its population fully vaccinated has moved from 42nd
to tied at 41st with New York 42nd in terms of percentage
of residents vaccinated. A long way to go to get herd immunity and lagging
behind in terms of getting vaccines received into arms and percentage of
population vaccinated compared to other states and a great reason to recall
this inept governor.
Non CV Case News: In a rare day in New York,
not a new single female has come forward to allege another instance of sexual
harassment but the bullying nature of the beast was revealed in a telephone
recording threatening a progressive group that if it did not upgrade its “tepid”
endorsement of him in his 2018 gubernatorial
race he was going to label its leader a “child molester” (from the lips
of the quasi feminist so quick to blame Trump for the sick sex addict’s assault
on 3 Atlanta massage parlors only the sounds of silence); COVID-19 suited up
for March Madness and blocked VCU’s chance to play against Oregon for violation
of CV protocols, sending VCU home and Oregon on to the next game; Stanford plays Cal in the Big Game for the
Axe Trophy but in wrestling as Stanford 162 lb weight class wrestler Shane
Griffith won the national championship in his weight class even as Stanford
plans to axe the program due to revenue losses in other sports caused by the CV
pandemic; the CV war is active and well on college campuses as the University
of Florida has suspended conservative student groups for not wearing masks and
not practicing social distancing, claims the groups deny; proving that dormant
when used to describe volcanoes is never really dormant, after 6,000 years Mount
Fagradalsfjall volcano, located on the Reykjanes Peninsula near Iceland’s
capital and its International Airport erupted;; backers of a recall effort for
L.A. DA Gascon have formally started the process and have started the 160 day
clock to obtain 580,000 signatures of registered voters to place a recall on
the ballot https://recallgeorgegascon.com/; as Minneapolis

1. Vernal Equinox—celebrating the
first day of spring and the end of winter in the Northern Hemisphere.
2. Great American
Meatout—first
celebrated in March, 1985 to promote the vegan diet by encouraging the absence
of meat for today. Not sure who the sponsors are but have to believe Beyond
Meat today is one of the major contributors.
3. 1953 Number One
Song—the
number 1 song in 1953 on this day with a run of 5 weeks in that position was “Till
I Waltz Again With You” by Teresa
Brewer to share number 1 status with 8 other songs that year. Here is a recording of “Till I Waltz Again
With You” by Teresa Brewer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZkTC0YmfVY
Brewer was a prolific singer who recorded over 600 songs in a 50 year career
and may be remembered as inspiring Elvis to sing in his first public
performance “Till I Waltz Again With You.” Her waltzing ended for good on
October 17, 2007 at age 76.
4. Word
of the Day—today’s word of the day as we end the “q’s” to continue the “r’s”
is “ragabash” which means an idle, worthless fellow, exactly the sort you would
never if you knew his background want to hire.
5. Prophetic Name
for a Band—celebrating the birth on this day in 1976 of noted singer,
songwriter and occasional actor Chester Bennington who was the lead singer for
the band Linkin but later formed his own band Dead by Sunrise and sadly let
depression and substance abuse get the best of him and was found dead by
hanging by sunrise on July 20, 2017 at age 41.
On this day
in:
a. 1815 after
escaping from exile on the island of Elba, Napoleon entered Paris with an army
of 140,000 and 200,000 volunteers to begin his “Hundred Days Rule” that would
come to an end following his defeat at the Battle of Waterloo.
b. 1923 the Arts Club of Chicago
opened the first public exposition of the works of Pablo Picasso.
c. 1985 Libby Riddles became the first woman
to win the Iditarod which was won for the 5th time this year by
Douglas Seavey.
d. 1987 to
the joy of those suffering from HIV or who would be infected in the future, the
FDA approved the anti-AIDS treatment AZT.
e. 2003 the U.S.
along with its Allies, Great Britain, Australia and Poland invaded Iraq in
search of WMD that did not exist in a war we never should have fought.
Reflections on winning
the Iditarod by the first woman to accomplish the feat who fortunately lost 30
miles from Nome stopped at house in the dark and got her bearings: ”The moment
when I won the Iditarod is going to be a pretty hard moment to beat, ever, in
my whole life, really. One of my less famous quotes was, ‘If I die now, it’ll
be okay.’ Because that was just spontaneously what it felt like. It’s like,
‘Wow, how are we ever going to beat this one?’” Libby Riddles

Non CV Case News: Biden has fired 5 staffers
for prior marijuana use (is this an attempt to preempt prior pot use VP Harries
from her expected during the first term sooner than later from using the 25th
Amendment?); maybe alert to the hypocrisy, the House passed legislation to
decriminalize at the federal level marijuana; Biden slipped and fell several
times trying to climb up the steps to Air Force One which the MSM dismissed as
having to do with the wind not his physical condition as opposed to when Trump
had troubles going down a wet ramp at West Point raising speculation his
difficulties were do to mental or physical issues; the MSM which too often is
an adjunct of the Blues may have some concern as a Senior DC Judge Laurence Silberman
in a blistering dissent in a libel case blasted the MSM and advanced the
proposition than the Sullivan Case needs to be revisited (an act that would be
near and dear to Trump’s heart and outrage over “fake news”; the board game

2. National Preschool
Teachers Appreciation Day—celebrated on the third Friday in March to honor the contributions
of preschool teachers to the education of very young children and whose jobs
make it possible for a working parent to continued working for part of the day
the child is in preschool.
3. 1952 Number One
Song—the
number 1 song in 1952 on this day with a run of 9 weeks in that position was “Wheel
of Fortune” by Kay Starr to
share number 1 status with 10 other songs that year. Here is a recording of “Wheel of
Fortune” by Kay Starr: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeIce5NsWKk
Starr was a star singer in the 40’s and 50’s and successful in jazz, pop and
country and continued performing near her death on November 3, 2016 at age 94.
4. Word
of the Day—today’s word of the day as we end the “q’s” to continue the “r’s”
is “raffish” which means disreputable
which describes the Chinese behavior in Alaska emboldened by their correct view
that Biden is a weak leader maybe not mentally fit for the job.
5. B-52’s Can Carry
a Deadly Load—celebrating the birth on this day in 1973 of Ricky Wilson, a
founder of the band B-52, but who became infected with HIV in 1983, a fact he
kept secret from most of the members of the band but the disease progressed and
he died on October 12, 1985 of AIDS.
On this day

in Nevada.
b. 1943 Frank Nitti scheduled to appear
before a Grand Jury investigating extortion charges of Hollywood Studios by
Nitti’s Gang and fearful perhaps of serving time in prison again after several
stiff shots of booze shot himself 3 times with the third hitting its intended
target his head, killing him.
c. 1958 a fire broke out in the Monarch Underware
Company’s facilities in New York City killing 24 and injuring 15, 6 of whom
were injured jumping from the flames but missing the fire net below.

to their forcible eviction in the Falklands War.
Reflections on the legalization
of gambling in Nevada after being outlawed in 1909: “I was just plumb sick and
tired of seeing gambling going on all over the state and the payoffs being made
everywhere. Some of those tinhorn cops were collecting 50 bucks a month for
allowing it. Also, the damn state was broke and we needed the money.” Phil
