Look to the Iditarod Dogs

We have since the beginnings of time known that dogs are man’s best friend
From the lick of the tongue, to the sleeping on the bed, to the wag of the tail
But in this world of a nation becoming black and white
Squaring off as red and blue
Where it’s winning at all costs
Ends justify the means
The finger of blame grows larger each day
Sounds of silence of guilt hold sway
Maybe our canine friends have an idea paws above the rest
A chance to this insane bickering arrest
No more biting and barking to gain sound bites
Maybe a time to do something for the nation right
Look to this photo which appears above not below
Of an Iditarod team mushing through the snow
Dogs that are black, dogs who are white, dogs who are brown
And a dog both black and white straining to gain ground
The musher is barely in focus or in sight more likely like our politicians dead weight
Dogs united to pull this sled of solutions very fast and very straight,
No more barking or biting, no more deviation from the path
Only a team of canines united  to perform their problem solving craft
The musher not needed when we as Americans unite
Pull the sled of solutions long into the arctic night
A symbolic race of when we united could carry any life saving serum freight
In the photo look past the red boots as this is not piece of political blame
Only a sense for the rancor on both sides to shame
Save for the green booties as we approach St. Patrick’s Day
Forget about the snakes and know the Irish Monks preserved our Civilized Way.
