January 30, 2021 Ridley's Believe It Or Not School Day of Nonviolence and Peace

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not January 30, 2021

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues the new year with surging cases now over 103 million at 103,072,832 with 461,177 new cases (a .26% increase) 26,154,797 of which are active, 76,918,035 closed with 74,687,478 recoveries (97.10% and 97.10% yesterday) and 2,226,564 deaths (2.89% and 2.89% yesterday) to continue the trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages with some plateaus.

CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 26 million at 26,635,116 with 119,808 new cases (a .45% increase) with 9,888,082 active cases of which 24,935 (.25% of active cases and a decrease now of 4,336 from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in serious or critical condition, 16,747,034 closures, 449,918 of which have been deaths (2.69% and 2.69% yesterday) and 16,297,116 of which have been recoveries (97.31% and 97.31% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to improve and after many months is now .20% lower than the world rate and .08% lower than Canada which has the socialized type medicine Biden may well want to implement here  and on a deaths per million population measurement on a steady climb to 1355 ranks behind Belgium (1809), UK (1550) which had passed us despite leading world in testing), and Italy (1461) and only slightly worse than Bulgaria (1305), Hungary (1292),   Spain (1247), Peru (1224), Mexico (1207), France (1161), Sweden (1144) that never closed its economy down like we did but has recently been experiencing a rapid rise  deaths, Portugal (1196) Switzerland (1078), Argentina (1051),  Brazil (1049), Poland (980), Chile (955), and Bolivia (874) and we have now conducted  310,287,057 tests (now at 934,234/M) compared to Russia at 695,344/M) as we are conducting  more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark,  Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains off the testing charts with tests at 1,052,637/M.
US Vaccinations: In the U.S. as of 1/30/2021 30.5 million doses have been given, 1.26 million per day in the last week. In California 3,266,914 total doses have been given but typical of Newsom’s ineptness and the power of growing signatures on his recall petition, California has slightly improved is now at 38th out of 50 in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the state (57.7% only .3% ahead of 39th Florida (57.4%) and 10.0% ahead of last place Kansas. A long way to go to get herd immunity but some improvement relative to other states but still a good reason to recall this inept governor. As of 1/29/2021 in California we have reduced hospitalizations to 16,581 COVID-19 patients hospitalized occupying 29.7% of all hospital beds.

Non CV Case News: It involved only 80 vaccinations but the outcry over GITMO terrorist detainees being vaccinated while NYC 1st responders in 9/11 still waiting in line went through the roof causing the Pentagon to halt its GITMO vaccination plan; in what is probably an opening salvo against Bic Pen Biden and his executive orders in his war on fossil fuels, Rep. Crenshaw has introduced a bill to protect oil and gas leases in the Gulf which Biden wants to ban for a year (not sure if the Botox Witch of the West will ever allow the bill to reach the floor but at least the lines in the sand are being drawn for 2022); given the years of the Biden family members trying to profit due to Biden’s position as Vice President, should come as no surprise that Harris’ niece who like all good liberals flew to the inauguration of her aunt in a private plane owned by a Biden donor is pedal to metal to push her book and other business deals while Harris’ stepdaughter Ella Emhoff was just signed on to a modeling contract with  IMG Models (remember all the flack over Ivanka’s clothing line—safe bet on these two women’s business ventures on the sounds of silence from the MSM); Maxine Waters continues to reveal her lack of any sense of ethics as new records show she paid her daughter’s PR firm $250,000 for her reelection campaign (pity the poor residents of her district as she must view them only as Plantation voting slaves to keep her in office); in what hopefully is not an omen, Blue Rep. Lynch of Massachusetts after receiving the second shot of the Pfizer vaccine tested positive for the virus and is asymptomatic and in self quarantine; Biden is warning of darker days due to the pandemic that is going to get worse and for inept, “not my fault” Andrew Cuomo that warning is in spades as another nursing home Dry Harbor which is reeling with an pandemic outbreak with 44 residents and 11 staffers testing positive since December 22, is hit with a scandal of not giving a temporary patient 66 years old a vaccine who then was moved to a hospital and died from COVID-19;  the recall Gavin Newsom movement continues to gather signatures over 1.2 million and enhanced by his failed policies the latest of which is the disaster or a vaccine rollout, ranking 38th  in terms of the percentage of vaccines received actually administered and is fortunately moving forward to the required goal of 1.5 million signatures. https://recallgavin2020.com/petition/

Chicago/Baltimore Gun Violence: HeyJackass.com is back to show that through January 29, 2021,  gun violence involving persons of color shooting persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 238 persons shot of whom 49 have died.

As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this day in history, a musical link to “I Knew I Loved You” by Savage Garden, the fact that your home town is spared of the purpresture by the left or the homeless and a quote by Allen Lynch who was there on the results of the Tet Offensive,  secure in the knowledge that if you want to send a gift for any memorable events like Father’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient.           1. School Day of Nonviolence and Peace—created by poet Llorenc Vidal Vidal this day in 1964 and influenced by the teaching of Gandhi to promote nonviolence as part of the school curriculum.

          2. National Croissants Day—celebrating that crescent shaped pastry which is the great delicious way to compliment a breakfast.

          3. 2000 Number One Song—the number 1 song in 2000 on this day with a run of 3 weeks in that position was “I Knew I Loved You” by Savage Garden to join 17 other number 1 songs. Savage Garden was an Australian duo of Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones formed in 1994 and after success disbanded in 2001 with Hayes pursuing a solo career and Jones leaving the music business to pursue a real estate career. Here is a recording of Savage Garden performing “I knew I Loved You”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjnmICxvoVY

         4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “purpresture” which means to encroach on public property which is what many restaurants had to do with city approval in order to survive with outdoor dining only.

5.  To Exit Doing What You Love—celebrating the birth on this day in 1878 of noted Estonian author A.H. Tammsaare who read 6 foreign languages and wrote all his work out in long hand and died not from the Soviet’s reoccupation of Estonia but at his desk with a pen in hand.

On this day in:

a. 1945 in the deadliest marine disaster in history largely unpublicized to this day, the German liner Wilhelm Gustloff, loaded with some 10,000 refugees, wounded soldiers and military personnel fleeing the Red Army advancing on Prussia was hit by 3 torpedoes from a Soviet submarine and sank in one hour with only some 500 survivors.

          b. 1968 in a we never saw this coming moment, the Tet Offensive was launched by the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese forces against the South Vietnamese, Americans and allies ending up with a decimation of the Viet Cong but a political nail in the coffin of the support of the Vietnam War and the belief that we were winning.

c. 1975 National Monitor Marine Sanctuary, the first of eventually 16 marine sanctuaries was established at the site of the sinking of the USS Monitor Cape Hatteras on December 30, 1862 while under tow with 16 of the 62 crewmen being lost.
          d. 1981 Richard Skrenta wrote the first virus for Apple II computers, a 400 line boot virus named “Elk Cloner.” He went on to found several internet companies which were acquired by public companies.

e. 1995 hydroxycarbamide became the first preventative treatment for sickle cell disease to the joy of the Afro-American community.

Reflections on the Tet Offensive: "WE WON THE TET OFFENSIVE. We decimated the Viet Cong. And our wonderful press made us losers. It was right at that point in time, I think, that the press fully turned on the war in Vietnam and started not necessarily generating news, but generating opinions. Because WE DECIMATED THE VIET CONG during Tet. We decimated the North Vietnamese Army during Tet. Had we pressed the advantage the turnout would have been different. But when you are fighting a war based on politics, stuff happens." Congressional Medal of Honor Winner and Sgt. in the First Cavalry Division.

Facebook's Oversight Board Is a Hoax as Following Instructions Cannot Post Comment on Trump Ban

The First Amendment rightfully in the Bill of Rights comes first
For without speech, religion, press, assembly, or address nothing good only worst
The creators of the algorithms to access to social media they seek to deny
Are clueless to why the founders believed freedom of speech was a necessity on which we had to rely
Whereas Waters and Booker were able to tweet and preach in your face opposition to Trump
And all pretense of civility and peaceful argument and discourse dump
Never banned for a moment while Trump did not in any way incite
What Facebook did is far more effective than the Iron Curtain and it is not right
If Facebook really wants to prevent riots and violence, speech it should not curtail
It will lead to despair, hopelessness and the need for revenge to get on the violence trail
The best defense against lies or distortions or urging of violent acts
Is more speech to counter the lies, distortions or urges is to summon forth the facts
May be difficult when the press
Has become a willing partner to opposing views suppress
A populist movement is not a Medusa you cannot kill it by censoring its current head
Trump’s ban will sow the seeds of dragon’s teeth to move forward in ways Facebook will dread
75 million strong and maybe more will as one realize, Facebook is a biased luxury they do not need
Start agitating with their leaders and courts to break it up as a start to end its censorship greed
Facebook is wrong, Voltaire’s words still ring true even more so today
I may disagree  but I will defend to the death your right to say

Time for Facebook to end its misguided ban
We need more speech not a social media Iron Curtain strangling discourse in this land

January 28, 2021 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Data Privacy Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not January 28, 2021

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues the new year with surging cases now over 102 million at 102,037,423 with 637,266 new cases (a .63% increase) 25,967,142 of which are active, 76,070,281 closed with 73,865,825 recoveries (97.10% and 97.10% yesterday) and 2,200,994 deaths (2.89% and 2.89% yesterday) to continue the trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages with some plateaus.

CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 25 million at 25,908,105 with 430,502 new cases (a 1.66% increase) with 9,824,711 active cases of which 25,494 (.26% of active cases and a decrease now of 3,777 from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in serious or critical condition, 16,513,896 closures, 443,769 of which have been deaths (2.69% and 2.68% yesterday) and 16,070,127 of which have been recoveries (97.31% and 97.32% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to improve and after many months is now .20% lower than the world rate and .08% lower than Canada which has the socialized type medicine Biden may well want to implement here  and on a deaths per million population measurement on a steady climb to 1336 ranks behind Belgium (1802), UK (1515) which had passed us despite leading world in testing), and Italy (1446) and only slightly worse than Bulgaria (1297), Hungary (1274),   Spain (1226), Peru (1218), Mexico (1196), France (1144), Sweden (1137) that never closed its economy down like we did but has recently been experiencing a rapid rise  deaths, Portugal (1140-a 54/M increase slowing down to 29/M per day in the last 2 days) Switzerland (1071), Argentina (1048),  Brazil (1032), Poland (964), Chile (946), and Bolivia (869) and we have now conducted  306,452,138 tests (now at 922,703/M) compared to Russia at 689,864/M) as we are conducting  more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark,  Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains off the testing charts with tests at 1,040,830/M.

A long way to go to get herd immunity but a start but still a good reason to recall this inept governor. We have 17,143 COVID-19 patients hospitalized occupying 29.7% of all hospital beds.

Non CV Case News: The unbelievable roller coaster ride for Game Stop continued unabated with it losing some half of its inflated gains in the past few days with Blues not calling for hearings; interestingly in what may result in a major market scandal the White House is standing mute; Andrew Cuomo may have to turn in his inane Emmy as a scandal in New York points to a massive under counting of CV deaths and a cover up of the real death count (this governor has hands coated with the blood of nursing home seniors and should resign); with a hand that must be suffering from writer’s cramp Biden has been entering executive orders like the newest dictator in town, dismissing legislation because elected officials in his view a bunch of total clowns; the recall Gavin Newsom movement continues to gather signatures over 1.2 million and enhanced by his failed policies the latest of which is the disaster or a vaccine rollout, ranking 40th  in terms of the percentage of vaccines received actually administered and is fortunately moving forward to the required goal of 1.5 million signatures. https://recallgavin2020.com/petition/

As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this day in history, a musical link to “Creep” by TLC, the fact that you are fighting to prevent spendthrift Blues from purloining your children’s and grandchildren’s future  and a quote by Louis Delescluze on the siege of Paris,  secure in the knowledge that if you want to send a gift for any memorable events like Father’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient.           1. Data Privacy Day—created by the European Union in 2007 to promote awareness of the need for computer users to protect their data and to advance the use of best practices to insure data privacy and protection.

          2. National Kazoo Day—created by Chaplin Willard Rahn on this day in 1983 to promote the use and acceptance of this unique vibrating instrument.

          3. 1995 Number One Song—the number 1 song in 1995 on this day with a run of 4 weeks in that position was “Creep” by TLC to join 11 other number 1 songs and 4 other acts that had their first number 1 song. TLC was an all female group consisting of Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes and Chrystal Jones that was formed in Atlanta in 1990 and had great commercial and artistic success which was cut short when Left Eye was killed in an automobile accident on April 25, 2002. The band never reformed after her death but T-Boz and Chilli went on performing as a duo. Here is a recording of TLC performing “Creep”:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlZydtG3xqI.

         4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “purloin” which means to steal which many conservatives believe will be the result on the impact of our surging national debt on our children and grandchildren.

5.  Dripping to Fame—celebrating the birth on this day of noted American painter Jackson Pollock, the founder of the drip technique in painting but who like so many creative souls struggled with alcoholism and died while driving under the influence in a single car accident which killed also a passenger but not his mistress.

On this day in:

a. 1871 in the Franco-Prussian War, the siege of Paris came to an end with a decisive defeat of French forces.

          b. 1958 the Lego Company patented the design of its bricks, those foot killing bricks that a parent is so likely to step bare footed on while heading to the early morning cries coming from a crib.

c. 1960 to the joy of professional football fans, the NFL announced that an expansion team in Dallas would play starting in the 1960 season and another expansion team in Minneapolis-St. Paul would start playing in 1961.

d. 1981 Ronald Reagan lifted the controls on the price of oil and allocation controls helping to end the 1979 energy crisis and bring on the oil glut of the 1980’s.

e. 1986 the Space Shuttle Challenger disintegrated shortly after takeoff killing all aboard.

Reflections on the Siege of Paris from Louis Delescluze, the French commander of the Paris Commune in response to shelling by the Prussians of the city in which 400 Parisians were killed and wounded:  "The Frenchmen of 1870 are the sons of those Gauls for whom battles were holidays.”

Time to Return the Emmy as Cuomo Seals His Lips on NY AG Report of Concealing True Number of CV Nursing Home Deathsig g

Big Fredo was once touted as the master of handling the pandemic beyond compare
He somehow even received an Emmy for his daily reports on the pandemic on the air
In reality he sentenced far too many nursing home patients to an earlier death
Sending CV infected hospital patients to nursing homes to infect then have the infected dying alone while painfully taking their last breath
A report by NY’s Blue AG reveals the death count of over 8000 was wrong
Understated by at least 50% then covered up while Big Fredo was singing I know what to do song
In a time of this deadly pandemic, transparency by a governor should be the Holy Grail
On releasing data on nursing home deaths on that Cuomo has completely failed
The understating of deaths has all the earmarks of a cover-up
May be too soon to claim Big Fredo is corrupt
But complete investigation of why the release of the true number of deaths took so much time
Sons and daughters who lost parents or grandparents need closure to see if officials should be charged with crimes
If you think it could not get worse, you are wrong
His “journalist” brother Little Fredo who in that position does not belong
Had for his brother on the air and in interviews only gushing praise
Since Big Fredo has gone mute what will Little Fredo say as true CV death count is raised?

Pelosi's False Trump Incited a Riot Claim Topped by Reds in the House Are a Security Threat Purge--Huh?

She may be excused from withdrawal of too many Botox injections

But calling out Red House members as security threats merits strongest condemnation
She is claiming our biggest threat in the House is from within
If only there were some Blues with a spine, she’d be gone for such vitriolic spin
When it comes to dangers from within look only to the House Committee on Intel
Where she put on and despite compromising Fangs did not remove Swalwell
How can she not with the revelations about  Chinese spy Fang Fang?
With his silence on whether he was seduced by a siren bang
Swalwell on Russia has been a never ending spreader of the Russian Trump collusion lie
Yet when it comes to China as our existential threat his actions and words seem to be giving it a bye
From Swalwell on Fang only the sounds of silence
From Pelosi only the over the top rhetoric from a Speaker unbalanced

January 27, 2021 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Vietnam Peace Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not January 27, 2021

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues the new year with surging cases now over 101 million at 101,400,157 with 799,312 new cases (a .79% increase) 25,920,024 of which are active, 75,480,133 closed with 73,294,978 recoveries (97.10% and 97.11% yesterday) and 2,182,155 deaths (2.89% and 2.89% yesterday) to continue the trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages with some plateaus.

CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 25 million at 25,908,105 with 254,857 new cases (a .98% increase) with 9,781,392 active cases of which 25,863 (.26% of active cases and a decrease now of 3,408 from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in serious or critical condition, 16,381,570 closures, 439,449 of which have been deaths (2.68% and 2.69% yesterday) and 15,942,121 of which have been recoveries (97.32% and 97.31% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to improve and after many months is now .21% lower than the world rate and .10% lower than Canada which has the socialized type medicine Biden may well want to implement here  and on a deaths per million population measurement on a steady climb to 1323 ranks behind Belgium (1797), UK (1496) which had passed us despite leading world in testing), and Italy (1438) and only slightly worse than Bulgaria (1293), Hungary (1265),   Spain (1225), Peru (1207), Mexico (1172), France (1139), Sweden (1127) that never closed its economy down like we did but has recently been experiencing a rapid rise in deaths, Portugal (1111-a 54/M increase slowing down to 29/M today) Switzerland (1065), Argentina (1044),  Brazil (1032), Poland (953), Chile (939), and Bolivia (859) and we have now conducted  304,302,917 tests (now at 916,246/M) compared to Russia at 687,511/M) as we are conducting  more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark,  Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains off the testing charts with tests at 1,028,577/M.
US Vaccinations: In the U.S. as of 1/27/2021 25.6 million doses have been given, 1.21 million per day in the last week. In California 2,730,262 total doses given but typical of Newsom’s ineptness, California has slightly improved is now 42nd out of 50 in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the state (50.1% only .1% ahead of 43rd  Nebraska and only 5.8% ahead of last place Alabama). A long way to go to get herd immunity but a start but still a good reason to recall this inept governor. We have 17,710 COVID-19 patients hospitalized occupying 29.7% of all hospital beds.

Non CV Case News: John Kerry the inept idiot who brought us the Iran Nuclear Deal and who is now the Climate Change Czar under the Biden Administration is the proud owner of a carbon spewing Gulf stream Jet which is a paragon of carbon emission (how does he expect anyone to take any climate change message coming from his lips when he is using a private instead of flying coach like most mere mortals); Biden is moving forward on his “bipartisan commission” to study the courts to see if increasing the number of judges would be appropriate (read increase as packing something even FDR backed away from and really is the bonehead idea Biden years ago claimed it to be); Chris Cillizza of the Cack News Network must be feeling the coming drop in his ratings with no Trump to attack by making a fool of himself and blaming Trump for the astronomical rise in Game Stop stock which is most likely caused by shorts covering their positions causing the price to soar; in the war on US energy independence first move was to stop the Keystone XL Pipeline construction that will cost thousands of jobs and force the oil companies to ship the oil shale by train which will spew more carbon than a pipeline at a higher costs quickly followed by the second which was to ban all oil and gas leases on public lands (what Biden must not realize is that oil and gas are a critical bridge to move to a greener economy and should not be devastated as market forces plus government subsidies move us to that greener economy); the Swamp still looks like an armed camp with some 10,000 armed troops there because leftist Blues like Chris Murphy of Connecticut are pushing a false narrative that Trump could incite another “riot” similar to what occurred on January 6, 2021 (the left must view Trump in the same way the Brits view the German fleet in World War I as a fleet in being that could come forth at any time to bring death and destruction to Britain); the NRA may have had its share of legal actions by state AGs against it but it still has teeth to file a lawsuit against Maryland’s law requiring, background checks, finger prints, classroom instruction in firearm usage, live firing of one round and a $50 fee claiming it is burdensome, designed to deter gun ownership and violates the 4th Amendment; with its schools closed and parents frustrated beyond belief of the fact and online learning only is present, one would thing the San Francisco Board of Education would have better things to do than rename its schools which it has proposed 6-1 to do so with a list of 44 schools to have their names changed which in addition to George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, the list includes naturalist John Muir, Spanish priest Junipero Serra, American revolution patriot Paul Revere, composer of the “Star Spangled Banner" Francis Scott Key, and current Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein (when will the idiocy of this cancel culture stop?); while Garcetti waged war on restaurants shutting down even out outdoor dining, the City of Los Angeles beset with homeless problems and huge unfunded liabilities for its bloated public employees, but its council members are getting paid as are the 22-36 paid staffers each of the 15 councilors employ 60 of whom are receiving more than $100,000 per year (Garcetti would be hard pressed to find anyone in the public who thought they were getting their money’s worth); the recall Gavin Newsom movement continues to gather signatures over 1.2 million and enhanced by his failed policies the latest of which is the disaster or a vaccine rollout, ranking 42nd in terms of the percentage of vaccines received actually administered and is fortunately moving forward to the required goal of 1.5 million signatures. https://recallgavin2020.com/petition/

Chicago/Baltimore Gun Violence: HeyJackass.com is back to show that through January 26, 2021,  gun violence involving persons of color shooting persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 210 persons shot of whom 46 have died.

As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this day in history, a musical link to “All For Love” by Bryan Adams/Rod Stewart and Sting, the  fact that you are not purblind and a quote by Anna Reid on the Siege of Leningrad,  secure in the knowledge that if you want to send a gift for any memorable events like Father’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient.          1. Vietnam Peace Day—commemorating the signing of the Paris Accords on this day in 1973 which ended the Vietnam War for the U.S. and required the withdrawal of all U.S. troops in 60 days and the release by the North Vietnamese of all American POW’s. For the South Vietnamese the war did not end and the North soon crossed the border in force and seized Saigon on April 30, 1975.

          2. National Geographic Day—celebrating the formation of the National Geographic Society on this day in Washington, D.C. in 1988.

          3. 1994 Number One Song—the number 1 song in 1994 on this day with a run of 3 weeks in that position was “All For Love” by Bryan Adams/Rod Stewart and Sting to join 9 other number 1 songs and 6 other acts that had their first number 1 song. Adams born in 1959 is Canada’s most famous guitarist and still performing today. Stewart born in 1945 is now Sir Roderick David Stewart and still performing and recording but his 2020 tour fell victim to the pandemic and was cancelled. Sting, a singer, songwriter, and guitarist was formerly with the Police and has earned numerous Grammys with the Police and in a solo career. Here is the three of them singing “All For Love”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofA3URC1wyk&ob=av2e

         4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “purblind” which means near blind, a condition that seniors may experience it they do not deal with their cataracts them always seem to appear in old age.

5.  Sports and Politics Do Not Mix—celebrating or bemoaning depending on your political belief, the  birthday on this day in 1959 of Keith Olbermann who started out in broadcasting as a sports commentator and evolved to a political commentator often while doing sports at the same time with views that became more progressive each year. He finally left ESPN and has his own political views podcast.

On this day in:

a. 1944 the siege of Leningrad which started on September 8, 1941 was lifted on this day after 2 years, 4 months, 2 weeks and 5 days but not before thousands upon thousands of Red Army soldiers and civilians died from bombardment and starvation.

          b. 1945 the Red Army’s 322nd Rifle Division liberated the surviving 7,000 inmates at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp most barely in a condition to survive.

c. 1967 Astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White and Roger Chafee were killed in their Apollo capsule during a test aboard its launch rocket when a fire breaks out in their capsule.

d. 1980 thanks to the aid and assistance of Canada, 6 American diplomatic hostages were spirited out under the noses of the Iranians from Iran in what became known as the Canadian caper.

 e. 2003 the first recordings for the National Registry, a collection of important sound recordings, were announced.

Reflections on the Siege of Leningrad from a victim who did not survive the war: “One of the most oft-quoted records of the siege, scribbled in pencil over the pages of a pocket address book, is that kept by twelve-year-old Tanya Savicheva:
28 December 1941 at 12.30 a.m. – Zhenya died. 25 January 1942 at 3 p.m. – Granny died. 17 March at 5 a.m. – Lyoka died. 13 April at 2 a.m. – Uncle Vasya died. 10 May at 4 p.m. – Uncle Lyosha died. 13 May at 7.30 a.m. – Mama died. The Savichevs are dead. Everyone is dead. Only Tanya is left.”
― Anna Reid, Leningrad: The Epic Siege of World War II, 1941-1942 Sadly Tanya was rescued after the Siege was lifted transferred to a hospital where she died of intestinal tuberculosis on July 1, 1944.

Morning Joe Unhinged in a Ranting Tirade

After listening to “Morning Joe” become totally unhinged
Suspect there is more than just caffeine in his morning binge
“Are you going to listen to be on Scarborough Fair?
Peaceful protests, mail in voting, changed rules almost all the time
Remember me to as the pundit who speaks there
I was once a stable Red until I lost my mind”
New lyrics to a popular Simon and Garfunkel song
As Joe rants up the rhetoric over delusional Red wrongs
The storming of the Capitol as if the Bastille by a really small number
Causes Joe to label 75 million voters with the stain of traitors to encumber
Joe’s rants proves Biden’s call for unity is completely hollow
When such rants from loyal leftist supporters like Joe so quickly follow

Biden's Amnesty Plan with No Border Security Is Reagan O'Neill Same Agreement Deja Vu

Fool me once shame on you but fool me again and on me shame
Biden wants amnesty over 8 years to illegals who have the immigration laws gamed
But sadly without the needed border security to additional illegal immigration tame
Just like what happened in the amnesty and border security “agreement” with Reagan the results will be the same
Reagan who with the Russians on arms control was the verify king
Was duped by the Blues and without security a flood of new illegals the open border would bring
It is a noble goal to want to have a path for illegals who are working and not states and cities driving to be bankrupt
But not if the gate is then opened and a massive flood of new illegals want to come up
Blues in their gated communities pay lip service to illegals’ needs
Want them only as future voters to the Blues’ demands vote for them heed
In a high tech global economy we need immigrants who are the brightest and the best
Not those who are near illiterate with no skills to break open and drain the welfare chests
Blues may control the House by a margin that is historically slim
Time for the Red Truth Machine to gear up to alert all voters that open borders are lose-lose and nowhere  a win-win
How many legal immigrants or Americans have to be by illegals killed or maimed?
How many poor American whites or minorities of color see due to illegals their jobs and wages flushed down the drain?
How many schools are inundated with children who cannot read or compute?
Swelling classroom so the education of other citizens’ kids is diluted
Before the light bulbs go on in Blues’ power lusting heads?
That we need merit based immigration couple with secure borders instead

A Tale of Two Military Records, One No Harm No Foul, The Other In Combat Smeared--Politics As Usual

A Tale of Two Cities it is not
But a tale of two Senators that exposes the leftist rot
Senator Blumenthal after many deferments served for six years during the Vietnam War
The closest he got to Vietnam was eating Pho at a restaurant mastering chopsticks as his service chore
Almost 9,000 miles away from South Vietnam paddies and the hell Marines endured at Khe Sanh
Nice cushy job as a Marine taking in the sites on the Mall, Lincoln Memorial or walking near the White House Lawn
Yet campaigning he claimed to have served in South Vietnam
Sadly being a Blue and shielded by MSM the claim caused him no harm
Senator Cotton volunteered after 9/11 and went to OCS
Then to graduate from Ranger School that is the epitome of pain and stress
Entitled to wear as a badge of honor the badge of a Ranger
The sort of man that you would want to lead you in times of wartime danger
A combat tour with the 101st Airborne in Iraq and a tour in Afghanistan
Godforsaken places of heat and blowing sands
Now smeared for claiming to be a Ranger in a Ranger Regiment
Double Standard as Blumenthal bragged about service in hell hole to where he was never sent
The left and Blues with their lap dogs like Salon must be on 2024 looking ahead
Fearful already of a young, energetic, mentally alert and articulate conservative Red
They know they must now begin with the smear and the lie
Weaken him and the nomination to run as a Red presidential candidate deny

Salon Smears Senator Cotton's Combat Record in Iraq and Afghanistan--Shame!

The leftist rag Salon  has smeared Senator Tom Cotton over his claiming to be a Ranger
The elite U.S. Army soldiers who complete a rigorous course most fail to lead troops into danger
Have like Cotton who completed the course have earned the right to wear the badge of a “Ranger”
Salon falsely claimed he claimed he served in a Ranger Regiment showing when it comes to truth telling it is a stranger
He said he volunteered to serve as a ranger but served in the 101st Airborne instead
In combat where troops died and the lucky ones only from survivable wounds bled
I doubt the writer of the smear
Would the thought of service to his country not totally fear
Another example of why Americans have learned to the MSM completely distrust
Their biased advocacy “journalism” is covered with thinnest of the thinnest crust
Pierce it and the reader is left with nothing but disgust
And better yet a desire to take their lies and smears and them combust

David Clark Refuses to Be Tested and Is Rightfully Removed From the Georgia Senate Floor

On the refusal to be tested by Georgia Senator  David Clark

I think he needs to come out of the ignorant dark

This is a test not a requirement to a vaccine take

His refusal should be viewed as a do as I say not as I do mistake

The case against rising temperatures revealing CV is open and shut

Asymptomatic adults with CV can infect so temp test only doesn't make the cut

He might claim there are too many false positives on a test with results so quick

The simple solution is to repeat the tests then to prove he is not sick

Now more than ever is the time for our elected officials to set the tone

Follow the CV spread prevention rules to prevent it from being a pandemic even more full blown

January 26, 2021 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Lotus 1-2-3 Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not January 26, 2021

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues the new year with surging cases now over 100 million at 100,600,845 with 526,687 new cases (a .53% increase) 25,893,396 of which are active, 74,707,449 closed with 72,545,983 recoveries (97.11% and 97.11% yesterday) and 2,159,042 deaths (2.89% and 2.89% yesterday) to continue the trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages with some plateaus.

CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 25 million at 25,908,105 with 173,947 new cases (a .68%% increase) with 9,863,574 active cases of which 26,235 (.27% of active cases and a decrease now of 3,036 from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in serious or critical condition, 16,071,531 closures, 432,862 of which have been deaths (2.69% and 2.71% yesterday) and 15,638,669 of which have been recoveries (97.31% and 97.29% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to improve and after many months is now .20% lower than the world rate and .10% lower than Canada which has the socialized type medicine Biden may well want to implement here  and on a deaths per million population measurement on a steady climb to 1303 ranks behind Belgium (1791), UK (1471) which had passed us despite leading world in testing), and Italy (1431) and only slightly worse than Bulgaria (1284), Hungary (1256),  Peru (1200), Spain (1215), Mexico (1159), France (1134), Sweden (1110) that never closed its economy down like we did but has recently been experiencing a rapid rise in deaths, Portugal (1082-a 54/M increase) Switzerland (1057), Argentina (1035),  Brazil (1021), Poland (943), Chile (938), and Bolivia (854) and we have now conducted  301,552,049 tests (now at 907,601/M) compared to Russia at 685,071/M) as we are conducting  more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark,  Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains off the testing charts with tests at 1,018,660,410/M. In the U.S. as of 1/25/2021 23.5 million doses have been given, 1.25 million per day in the last week. In California 2,437,504 total doses given but typical of Newsom’s ineptness, California has slightly improved but has dropped back to 48th out of 50 in the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the state (49.7% only .1% ahead of Rhode Island and only 4.5% ahead of last place Kansas). A long way to go to get herd immunity but a start but still a good reason to recall this inept governor.

Non CV Case News: In a Freudian slip which probably reveals his true thoughts Kevin de Leon when asked to lead the L.A. Council in the Pledge of Allegiance totally botched this simple act; in a frightening proof of the adage that democracy talks but dark money in elections walk the walk, Biden was the beneficiary of $145 million of “dark money” contributions outspending Trump by more than 5 to 1 while the new hypocrite in chief was railing against “dark money” influence in our elections; Lauren Wolfe who was rightfully fired for not checking in her rampant pro Biden anti-Trump bias before going to work at The New York Times is blasting the paper’s account that she was dismissed for her “chills” up her back tweet (there should never be any “reprogramming” of people as suggested by the MSM because of their political views but if there must be advocacy and biased “journalists” of MSM need to be at the front of the line learning how to be objective); disturbing news coming out that the Capitol  Police knew in advance that there would be a riot on January 6 but did nothing to prepare for it (if I were a conspiracy theorist I would argue that their lack of preparation was a trap to insure a riot that safe money would be on a bet that Trump was responsible for it and would be grounds to impeach to fulfill the Blues game plan of never having to face Trump or his influence in a election ever again); Americans can be breathing easier that Biden’s moratorium on deportations of illegals which would have effectively handcuffed ICE from protecting us from violent criminal illegal aliens by deporting them has been blocked by a federal judge; the leftist MSM will leave no stone unturned in an effort to smear conservative Reds like Tom Cotton who graduated from Ranger School and served with the 101st Airborne in Iraq by falsely claiming he had claimed he had served as a Ranger in Iraq; in another example of the Biden unity two step, Biden gave credit to Trump for the creation of the vaccine then quick went two steps back claiming the immunization plans were worse than expected due in part to Trump’s questioning of the election; the push for an open border that will destroy minority communities and devastate the middle class has accelerated ad leftist member of the Squad has introduced a bill in the House to decriminalize illegal immigration; on the 1 year anniversary of Lakers Star Kobe Bryant’s death tributes are pouring in from the entertainment and sports world; Newsom recall gains signatures grow to 1,200,000 with here another news item that should drive voters by the thousands to sign the recall and get rid of this pompous inept leader as the EDD benefit scandal now stands at $11 billion with another $20 billion under investigation as millions of Californians went through hell trying to get the unemployment benefits they deserved; after being sworn in to preside over the “show impeachment trial for former President Trump”, 80 year old Patrick Leahy was taken to the hospital as he did not feel well;  Newsom is so arrogant and narcissistic that he must feel he can do no wrong when he failed to contest the parole hearing of Garada Zavala a scumbag beyond belief who participated in the torture, sodomy and killing of a Eric Jones,  a young black in 2001; the recall Gavin Newsom movement continues to gather signatures over 1.2 million and enhanced by his failed policies the latest of which is the disaster or a vaccine rollout, ranking 45TH in terms of the percentage of vaccines received actually administered and is fortunately moving forward to the required goal of 1.5 million signatures. https://recallgavin2020.com/petition/

         1. International Customs Day—honoring the work of customs agents so essential to facilitate the movement of goods in international commerce and celebrated on this day since 1983.

          2. Lotus 1-2-3 Day—commemorating the introduction on this day in 1983 of the spreadsheet program than contained a spreadsheet calculator, database manager, and graphics package for the IBM PC which made accountants and business planners jobs much easier.

          3. 1993 Number One Song—the number 1 song in 1993 on this day with a run of 14 weeks in that position (5 of which started at the end of 1992) was “I’ll Always Love You” by Whitney Houston to join 10 other number 1 songs. Here is a recording of Whitney Houston singing “I Will Always Love You.”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JWTaaS7LdU&ab_channel=whitneyhoustonVEVO

         4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “punctiuncle” which means a trifling or insignificant point in an argument.

5.  Best Guitarist Ever Trumped by Cancer—celebrating the birthday on this day in 1955 of guitarist Eddie Van Halen considered by many to be the best rock and roll guitarist of all time but who starting smoking and drinking at age 12, struggled with alcoholism all his career until going in for rehab which caused him to become sober only to fall victim to tongue cancer, then throat cancer and finally struggling with lung cancer when he died of a stroke on October 6, 2020 at age 65 surrounded by his wife, ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli, son and brother.

 On this day in:

a. 1934 the Apollo Theater opened in Harlem.

          b. 1934 in a treaty that would end on September 1, 1939, Poland and Germany signed a Non-Aggression Pact.

c. 1972 a bomb in the luggage compartment of JAT Flight 367 exploded into three pieces at 33,330 feet altitude and crashing near Srbská KameniceCzechoslovakia, killing 27 of the 28 aboard but not flight attendant Vesna Vulović who acquired the dubious distinction of surviving the highest fall without a parachute and who despite numerous broken bones, temporary paralysis from the waist down and a coma, lived to the ripe old age of 66, dying on December 23, 2016.

d. 1998 President Clinton appeared on national television to lie with a straight face that he had had no sexual relations with “that woman” Monica Lewinsky.

e. 1920 while enroute to Calabassas in a helicopter from Orange County’s John Wayne Airport in the fog to his daughter’s basketball game the helicopter he was riding in crashed 30 miles from arrival killing all 9 aboard including Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant.

Reflections on what became known as the Lewinsky Scandal that sadly was not the only case of an uncontrolled Reptilian Brain of our president Clinton: "Where does she go from here? This is a 24-year-old woman. The Clintons will finish their term, receive their pensions, serve on boards. This will ultimately be a blip in the history of Clinton's eight-year presidency. Monica is just beginning her life." William Ginsburg, Monica Lewinsky's attorney, on his fears about her future.

Like Black Hawk Down Somalis Stripping a Corpse Mob of Thugs Attack Man in Broad Daylight in NYC

https://www.foxnews.com/us/nypd-releases-video-of-attackers-who-beat-and-stripped-man-in-chinatown

Sickening to see video of a gang of masked thugs attacking a man in broad daylight in New York City
Repeatedly kicking and stabbing him without mercy or shred of pity
Stealing his cell phone then ripping off his clothes and leaving him nude
Like piranha attracted to blood more joined in and no one tried to intrude
One should never jump to racial conclusions but the thugs looked very black
Their frenzy and stripping him a déjà vu from Somalis in Black Hawk Down attacks
This brutal unprovoked assault was caught on security cams
Hooded and masks these thugs may be hard to ID before they scrammed
Made more so by a mayor who is oblivious to the dangers of defunding the police
No wonder people who can are fleeing as shootings and assault never seem to cease

January 24, 2021 Ridley's Believe It Or Not National Sanctity of Life Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not January 24, 2021

CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 25 million at 25,566,185 with 123,910 new cases (a .48%% increase) with 9,854,020 active cases of which 26,540 (.27% of active cases and a decrease now of 2,731 from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in serious or critical condition, 15,836,075 closures, 429,328 of which have been deaths (2.71% and 2.71% yesterday) and 15,330,363 of which have been recoveries (97.29% and 97.29% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to improve and after many months is now .18% lower than the world rate and .09% lower than Canada which has the socialized type medicine Biden may well want to implement here  and on a deaths per million population measurement on a steady climb to 1293 ranks behind Belgium (1784), UK (1438) which had passed us despite leading world in testing), and Italy (1415) and only slightly worse than Bulgaria (1275), Hungary (1241),  Peru (1192), Spain (1186), Mexico (1149), France (1118), Sweden (1086) that never closed its economy down like we did but has recently been experiencing a rapid rise in deaths, Switzerland (1043), Argentina (1031), Portugal (1028), Brazil (1017),  Chile (934), and Bolivia (844) and we have now conducted  298,986,744 tests (now at 900,282/M compared to Russia at 680,276 as we are conducting  more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark,  Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains off the testing charts with tests at 987,410/M. A long way to go to get herd immunity but a start but still a good reason to recall this inept governor.

Non CV Case News: The New York Times cannot stop wallowing in Biden praise as it makes the claim that he is the most religious observant president in modern times (even as Catholic Bishops condemn him as a “Catholic” for his support of abortion); the Kansas City Chiefs led by Patrick Mahomes are heading to the Super Bowl to face the Tampa Buccaneers lead by Tom Brady who will be playing in his 10th Super Bowl Game with 6 prior wins in a battle of experience versus age quarterbacks; in Biden’s mind the danger from CV trumps danger from jihadists as he has rescinded Trump’s Muslim ban but instituted it to cover non Americans entering from Britain, Europe and South Africa; Biden has signed an executive order requiring the federal government to reimburse Feces City for its housing of the homeless in motels and hotels; Pelosi has shown that repeated Botox injections must adversely affect memory as she conveniently has forgotten her praise of union members who violently stormed the Wisconsin State Capitol to protest Governor Walker’s attempt to reign in public sector  union powers that were bankrupting the state’s pension plans; the Republican Senators are recovering their senses to oppose the impeachment of ex-President Trump (how does the Senate have the right to try a President to remove him when he is no longer in office and why other than pure animus and fear he will run in 2024 and decimate whomever they put up without a virus pandemic to help them);; the recall Gavin Newsom movement continues to gather signatures over 1.2 million and enhanced by his failed policies the latest of which is the disaster or a vaccine rollout, ranking 45TH in terms of the percentage of vaccines received actually administered and is fortunately moving forward to the required goal of 1.5 million. https://recallgavin2020.com/petition/

Chicago/Baltimore Gun Violence: HeyJackass.com is back to show that through January 23, 2021,  gun violence involving persons of color shooting persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 198 persons shot of whom 43 have died.

As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this day in history, a musical link to “Black and White” by Michael Jackson, the  fact that your pets receive pulicide when needed and a quote by Mother Teresa on abortions, secure in the knowledge that if you want to send a gift for any memorable events like Father’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient.          1. National Sanctity of Human Life Day—created Ronald Reagan in 1984 to promote the sanctity of human life which is destroyed by abortion and is celebrated on the Sunday closest to January 22, the day the landmark decision of SCOTUS was decided legalizing abortion.

          2. Beer Can Appreciation Day—celebrating this day on 1934 that Krueger’s Finest Beer and Krueger’s Cream Ale began to be sold in cans as opposed to only bottles to the joy of the large beer drinking public

          3. 1992 Number One Song—the number 1 song in 1992 on this day with a run of 3 weeks in that position was “Black or White” by Michael Jackson to join 11 other number 1 songs. Here is a recording of Michael Jackson singing “Black or White.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTFE8cirkdQ

         4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “pulicide” which means flea killer which is something any pet owner should never run of.

5.  Double Probation—celebrating the birthday on this day in 1949 of comedian and one of the original cast members of Saturday Night Live when the skits were really hilarious and who went on to star in such comedy classics as the Blues Brothers, Animal House, Neighbors and 1941. Sadly Belushi struggled with heroin and cocaine and died of an accidental overdose of heroin and cocaine along with alcohol on March 5, 1982 which was administered to him by Catherine Evelyn Smith who served 15 months in prison for her role in Belushi’s death.

On this day in:

a. 1948 James Marshall found gold at Sutter’s Mill in California and the California Gold Rush was on to the dismay of Mexico and the Native Americans that lived there.

          b. 1961 a B-52 on a training flight broke up near Goldsboro, North Carolina, dropping two H-Bombs which never exploded but only one was ever recovered.

c. 1978 a Soviet satellite Kosmos 954 with a nuclear reactor aboard of power burned up upon reentry over the Northwest Territories, scattering nuclear material over a wide area, only 1 percent of which was recovered.

d. 1989 serial killer Ted Bundy who confessed to over 30 killers but the total is believed to be much higher was finally executed in the electric chair in Florida.
          e. 2003 the Department of Homeland Security officially began operations.

Reflections on abortion, an issue that stokes more passions for it and against it than probably any issue this nation has ever faced: ““I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is 'Abortion', because it is a war against the child... A direct killing of the innocent child, 'Murder' by the mother herself... And if we can accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love... And we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts...”Mother Teresa
