As academic scandals go it could be a Dickens like Tale of Two
Universities
One in which the board backs its president due to Diversity,
Inclusion and Equity
When giving testimony on antisemitism within its ivory
towers
As afterwards claims of plagiarism her academic record sours
The other in which a president is called to account for
failing to correct research mistakes
And decides he cannot perform his job and the resignation high
road chose to take
Gay of Harvard University is the first female African American president in 400
years
Refused to resign due her antisemitism testimony and plagiarism—Identity
politics lowering standards we have come fear
Marc Tessier-Lavigne of Stanford is a white male with high
standards he failed
No plagiarism, no fraud, only failure to correct that caused
him to bail
Gay may be a scholar worthy of fame
But charges of plagiarism merit only condemnation and shame.
Did Harvard not strive for meritocracy but rather the need
to check the box?
When looking at her quantity of research seems like the latter
to Harvard’s elite status mock
The Kerner Report warned us of two nations one white one
black drifting apart
This episode warns us of two standards one for whites the
lower for blacks in the academic mart
