December 5, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not World Soil Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For December 5, 2017 The good news is that John Conyers, Jr. has resigned from the House over allegations of sexual harassment and the use of the slush fund to settle his case but the bad news is that Trump and the RNC have endorsed Moore even though the number of minors alleging sexual misconduct has increased which means whether Moore wins or loses and whether the Senate Ethics Committee ousts him or not if he wins, the Reds will be portrayed as the party of sexual perverts in 2018; Mueller’s witch hunt which is spreading like a cancer is looking more and more like a well thought out trap by Clinton supporters in the FBI to absolve HRC and to entrap Trump and his supporters as the agent fired in a moment like locking the stable after all the horses have fled has been revealed to be a rabid HRC and was the one who changed Comey’s finding of gross negligent to extremely careless, thereby exonerating her of any criminal conduct: the FBI tried 24/7 to conceal the tarmac meeting of Lynch and Bill, and conducted what had to have been soft T-ball interviews of Abedin and Mills who both lied like rugs on the issue of her private server but double standards being what they are have not been charged ala Flynn while spending over $ $5 million in the witch hunt (Mueller should resign and Sessions should reinsert himself in the investigation and the real collusion of HRC, the DNC, and the FBI should be investigated along with the use of the false anti-Trump dossier to obtain unmasking and intercepts of Trump supporters); Pelosi continues to meltdown over the Republican tax cut with outrageous hyperbole not befitting a minority leader and the doting Diane Feinstein at age 84 delusionally believing she is up to another 6 more years is revealing that her partisan political cataracts have really worsened to almost near blindness by claiming she sees an obstruction of justice case against Trump while someone who knows what he is talking about and is no supporter of Trump, Alan Dershowitz, states in no uncertain terms there is no obstruction (Trump should pardon all of whom Mueller has obtained indictments and seriously consider firing Mueller and his deputy Attorney General along with all Obama appointees); Trump was serious when he campaigned on the need to vet refugees as the number of refugees have dropped by 83% while deportations are increasing exponentially including deportations of MS-13 members and other criminal elements; Trump announced that our Embassy in Israel would be moved to Jerusalem; the Blues are threatening to shut down the government if they do not get amnesty for DACA members putting the “rights” of illegal aliens over the needs of Americans and this nation while refusing to negotiate on securing the border with a wall, ending chain migration, ending the immigration lottery, and passing Kate’s Law (Feinstein and Harris really have blood on their hands on Steinle’s murder along with the Board of Supervisors in San Francisco); almost a stuck record or a gruesome  remake of Groundhog Day, Chicago style,  the carnage in Chicago continued unabated with total shootings by mostly minorities against mostly minorities in 2017 through December 3 increasing to 3382  of whom 587 have died while nothing is being done to hinder or prevent the killings of minorities by minorities.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Bing Crosby, factoids of interest for this day in history, if canoeing or kayaking on a river being aware of the placement of any lashers, a relevant quote by Paula Patton on fame,  secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. Repeal  Daycelebrating the ratification of the 21st Amendment which repealed Prohibition effective on this day in 1933.
2. World Soil Day—created by the UN General Assembly on December 20, 2013 and observed since December 5, 2015 to  promote awareness of the importance of soil in food security, agriculture, climate change and economic development (any doubts on the need to end practices that destroy soil will be erased if one looks at the havoc created by the Dust Bowls of the 30’s in the Great Plains of the United States).
3. 1945 Number One Song— the number one song in 1945 on a run of 1 week in that position was “It’s Been A Long, Long Time “ by Bing Crosby. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evZZiRbP_K8
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “lasher” which means not someone who whips but rather a weir, a horizontal barrier across a stream or river that raises the water level.
5. USC Is Known For More Than Just Football--celebrating the birth on this day in 1975 of magna cum laude graduate of the USC Film School Paula Patton, noted actress who starred as Ms. Rain in the Academy Award winning film, Precious.
       On this day in:
