Iditarod March 7, 2018 noon

Joar Ulsom is in the lead having just left the Ophir Checkpoint which is now a ghost town, 550 miles from Nome and a balmy 27 degrees. DeeDee Jonrove competing in her 36^th Iditarod at the age of 64 with 16 prior finishes in the top ten has become the second person to drop out. The Berington twins who normal race together look like they are competing against each other with Anna in 7^th place enroute to Ophir and Kristy in 41^st place still in McGrath 646 miles from Nome. Anna is the leading woman musher, Matt Hall is the leading male rookie in 19^th place and Emily Maxwell in 32^nd is the leading female rookie. For those mushers who fear number 13, Aily Zirkle is today in 13^th place but expect her to gain. Look for updates later today.
