March 15, 2021 Ridley's Believe It Or Not World Consumer Rights Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not March 15, 2021

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues the new year with cases now over 120 million at 120,616,867 with 199,838 new cases (a .17% increase) 20,731,818  which are active, 99,885,049 closed with 97,216,776 recoveries (97.33% and 97.32% yesterday) and 2,668,273 deaths (2.67% and 2.68% yesterday) to continue the trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages with some plateaus.

CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 30 million at 30,081,657 with 9,292 new cases (a .13% increase) with 7,358,720 active cases of which 9,397 (.13% of active cases and back to daily decreases and a now a decrease now of 19,874 from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in serious or critical condition, 22,732,229 closures, 547,418 of which have been deaths (2.41% and 2.41% yesterday) and 22,184,811 of which have been recoveries (97.59% and 97.59% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to improve and after many months is now .26% lower than the world rate and now .15% lower than Canada which has the socialized type medicine Biden may well want to implement here but at least has approved 4 vaccines as opposed to our 3  and on a deaths per million population measurement on a steady climb to 16476 ranks behind Belgium (1930), UK (1843) which had passed us despite leading world in testing), Hungary (1772), and Italy (1697), and only slightly worse than Portugal (1641), Bulgaria (1633), Spain (1545),  Mexico (1499), Peru (1472), France (1383), Sweden (1296) that never closed its economy down like we did but has recently been experiencing a rapid rise in  deaths, Brazil (1303),  Poland (1248), Argentina (1180) Switzerland (1162), Chile (1132), and Bolivia (1015) and we have now conducted  384,364,335 tests (now at 1,144,426/M) compared to number 2 now Spain at  879,122/M) as we are conducting  more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark,  Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains off the testing charts with tests at 1,556,392/M.

US Vaccinations: In the U.S. as of 3/14/2021 109 million doses have been given, 2.43 million per day in the last week (sounds impressive but if the rate does not increase it will take us now reduced to some 5 months to have 75% of the population vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity. In California 12,306,608 total doses have been given (75.2% of doses received to again remain below U.S. average of 80.3%), but with the pressure of more than 1.95 million recall signatures have been turned in, California has moved up from 45th to 43rd  out of 50 in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states and at 10.1% of its population fully vaccinated has moved up slightly to 46th in terms of percentage of residents vaccinated. A long way to go to get herd immunity and lagging behind in terms of getting vaccines received into arms and percentage of population vaccinated compared to other states and a great reason to recall this inept governor.

Non CV Case News: Nothing like a predictable surge of illegals trying to cross the border heeding the amnesty call of Biden for reality to hit Blues in the face as Senator Durbin indicates a call for amnesty is not now viable (should go further and demand border must be secured including finishing the Wall); Biden finally opened his mouth on Cuomo’s sexual harassment scandal by saying we should wait to see what the investigation finds and did not call for his resignation probably, given his past history of what many would call inappropriate touching, he would need to resign himself; Cuomo’s ratings among New Yorkers are sinking like a stone with 43% approval rate and 1/3 thinking he should resign immediately; Biden will soon be introducing a massive tax hike that by increasing corporate rates from 21% to 28% and rates on anyone earning more than $400,000 and increasing the capital gains tax on incomes over $1,000,000 to pay for a planned $4 trillion spending increase bill that many fear will be crippling to an economy ravaged by the CV pandemic and just now slowly reopening; Joy Behar again demonstrates she needs a vastly improved prescription to see Antifa riots which have spread across the nation or a comprehensive mental check up as this Joyless and clueless host of The View is a fictitious idea not a real thing; the Minneapolis City Council approved a $27 million settlement of the wrongful death suit filed by his family which has prompted lawyers for Chauvin to have the judge recall for further questioning on the issue of prejudice 7 jurors already selected (how any officers can receive a fair trial in Minneapolis when the jury to a person must know, ala the Rodney King not guilty verdict, their city will be burned to the ground if a not guilty verdict is rendered); Newsom has evidently learned nothing from the arrogance of embattled Cuomo, as he ignores his ineptness, arrogance and hypocrisy over his own stay at home lock down orders to attack the recall effort which unless a very, very large portion of the signatures turned in are ruled invalid will be on the ballot as the misguided work of the “anti-mask anti-vax extremists (interesting he didn’t name the hypocritical likes of Harris who swore she would not prior to the election be vaccinated by any vaccine developed under the Trump Administration which she of course then did after the election); backers of a recall effort for L.A. DA Gascon have formally started the process and have started the 160 day clock to obtain 580,000 signatures of registered voters to place a recall on the ballot https://recallgeorgegascon.com/; as Biden is still in “hidin” not holding a press conference since inauguration, leave it to a political cartoonist to reveal what must be going on in his rapidly fading mind https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cartoons-slideshow; though 80% of the recall Newsom signatures have been verified and 1.95 million signatures have been collected, signature drive continues to insure a recall in the event that any of the 1.5 million signatures already received are not valid to insure Newsom is put on a recall ballot where he needs to be given his unmitigated ineptness:   https://recallgavin2020.com/petition/

Chicago Gun Violence: HeyJackass.com is back to show that through March 14, 2021,  gun violence involving mostly persons of color shooting persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 587 persons shot of whom 107 have died.

As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this day in history, a musical link to “Mañana (Is Soon Enough for Me)” by Peggy Lee,  the fact that your life is not consumed by quotidian days and a quote by Talaat Pasha on justification for the Armenian Genocide, secure in the knowledge that if you want to send a gift for any memorable events like Mother’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. Please contact me for the details on the pricing.

          1. World Consumer Rights Day—created on this day in 1983 by the International Organization of Consumer Unions to advance the rights of consumers and allay or end the “caveat emptor” policies found in the consumers’ marketplace.
          2.
International Day Against Police Brutality—first observed in Montreal on this day in 1997 to protest police brutality which has to be an observance the BLM Movement can get behind if they have not done so already.
           3.
1948 Number One Song—the number 1 song in 1948 on this day with a run of 9 weeks in that position was “Mañana (Is Soon Enough for Me)” by Peggy Lee to share number 1 status with 8 other songs that year.  Here is a recording of “Mañana (Is Soon Enough for Me)” by Peggy Lee:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64qYKrJNt6c This 13 time Grammy nominee was a talented singer, songwriter and actress who performed into the 90’s often in a wheel chair and her Mañana finally came on January 21, 2002 at age 81 from diabetes and a heart attack.

         4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “quotidian” which means commonplace, especially when mundane which would rarely describe any day in the Trump Presidency.

          5. AQB Dutchman—celebrating the birth on this day in 1926 of noted quarterback and football coach Norm Van Brocklin (the “Dutchman”) whose during his first three years with the Rams alternated with Bob Waterfield and after Waterfield retired went on to be name to 9 Pro Bowls as a quarterback. Best known for his dislike of soccer style kickers that rule the game today but a heavy smoker who took his last snap from a heart attack on May 2, 1983.

          On this day in:

          a. 44 B.C. Julius Caesar was assassinated at a meeting of the Roman Senate at the Theater of Pompey in Rome by being stabbed 23 times by a group of Senators led by Brutus and Cassius but who failed in their assassination to restore the Roman Republic but whose assassination has left us with the warning “Beware of the Ides of March.”

          b. 1921 Talaat Pasha, the chief architect of the Turkish Armenian Genocide, was assassinated in Berlin by a 23 year old Armenian student Soghomon Tehlirian who was arrested, tried and found not guilty after a 2 day trial due to temporary insanity caused by the genocide and to this day is considered a national hero by Armenians and who ultimately moved to the Bay Area where he worked as a postal clerk before his death.

          c. 1952 in Cilaos, Réunion in the Indian Ocean off the coast of East Africa 73 inches of rain, a new world record, fell in 24 hours from March 15th to March 16th.

          d. 1965 President Lyndon Johnson reacting to Bloody Sunday in Selma, Alabama told Congress “We shall overcome” while advocating passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1965.

          e. 2019 some 1.4 million students in a 123 countries skipped classes to protest the lack of action on climate change.

Reflections on the sick justification by the Ottomans for the Armenian Genocide: “There is no use for you to argue. We have already disposed of three quarters of the Armenians. There are none at all left in Bitlis, Van, and Erzerum. The hatred between the Turks and the Armenians is now so intense that we have got to finish with them. If we don’t, they will plan their revenge.” Talaat Pasha in a statement to  U.S. Ambassador Morgenthau 1915.

March 12, 2021 Ridley's Believe It Or Not World Day Against Against Cyber Censorship

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not March 12, 2021

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues the new year with cases now over 119 million at 119,584,822 with 539,387 new cases (a .45% increase) 20,697,836  which are active, 98,886,986 closed with 96,236,460 recoveries (97.32% and 97.28% yesterday) and 2,650,236 deaths (2.68% and 2.72% yesterday) to continue the trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages with some plateaus.

CV USA Cases: Total cases now nearing 30 million at 29,989,883 with 80,368 new cases (a .27% increase) with 7,415,165 active cases of which 11,759 (.16% of active cases and back to daily decreases and a now a decrease now of 17,512 from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in serious or critical condition, 22,574,718 closures, 545,358 of which have been deaths (2.42% and 2.56% yesterday) and 22,029,360 of which have been recoveries (97.58% and 97.44% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to improve and after many months is now .26% lower than the world rate and now .15% lower than Canada which has the socialized type medicine Biden may well want to implement here but at least has approved 4 vaccines as opposed to our 3  and on a deaths per million population measurement on a steady climb to 1641 ranks behind Belgium (1924), UK (1840) which had passed us despite leading world in testing), Hungary (1724), and Italy (1682), and only slightly worse than Portugal (1636), Bulgaria (1620), Spain (1545),  Mexico (1487), Peru (1456), France (1379), Sweden (1296) that never closed its economy down like we did but has recently been experiencing a rapid rise in  deaths, Brazil (1289),  Poland (1236), Argentina (1178) Switzerland (1162), Chile (1115), and Bolivia (1010) and we have now conducted  376,068,767 tests (now at 1,131,537/M) compared to number 2 now France at  863,827/M) as we are conducting  more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark,  Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains off the testing charts with tests at 1,512,519/M.

US Vaccinations: In the U.S. as of 3/12/2021 101 million doses have been given, 2.30 million per day in the last week (sounds impressive but if the rate does not increase it will take us now reduced to some 5 months to have 75% of the population vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity. In California 11,428,034 total doses have been given (71.2% of doses received to again remain below U.S. average of 75.8%), but even with the pressure of more than 1.95 million recall signatures have been turned in, California has dropped from 42nd to 45th out of 50 in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states and at 9.1% of its population fully vaccinated is tied for 48th place with Tennessee in percentage of residents fully vaccinated. A long way to go to get herd immunity and lagging behind in terms of getting vaccines received into arms and percentage of population vaccinated compared to other states and a great reason to recall this inept governor. As of 3/7/2021 the COVID Tracking Project stopped tracking hospitalization data from the states so California’s data will no longer appear.

Non CV Case News: Finally New York’s 2 Blue Senators Schumer and Gillibrand have joined the cry that Cuomo needs to resign as Little Fredo’s Cack News Network remains somewhat incapable of airing the accusers of Cuomo’s sexual harassment (Al Franken must be wondering what took Gillibrand so long to leave Cuomo’s sinking ship); Portland which had another riot as the ANTIFA mob was out trying to burn down the federal court house because the mayor had the temerity to propose a $2 million call back for the police after homicides in Portland are off the charts; the NYT needs to change its masthead to “All the News a Biased Rag Can Print” as on of its columnists Rachel Cohen praises the pandemic and its over 500,000 deaths for making it possible to implement radical programs like preventing utility shutdowns for non billing payment and releasing criminals from prisons and jails (so typical of the left that deaths of over 500,000 innocents are mere to be dismissed bumps in the road on their path to change America); Sen. Feinstein’s mental erosion is once again on display with her new “assault” weapons ban that is oblivious to the rise in urban shootings as men of color other men and bystanders kill (to her the 2nd Amendment is a speed bump to disarm law abiding citizens to be ignored); Jake Tapper whose any vestige of objectivity has long since been flushed down the crapper somehow found the temerity to tweet about the 6th woman’s groping allegations (Jake both feet in the water and become a reporter and report the news on Cuomo or exit the business!); Elizabeth Holmes’ trial on securities fraud in Theranos will be postponed due to her expected delivery date July until August 31; backers of a recall effort for L.A. DA Gascon have formally started the process and have started the 160 day clock to obtain 580,000 signatures of registered voters to place a recall on the ballot https://recallgeorgegascon.com/; while Biden seems to be in a full on increasing mental fade, leave it to a political cartoonist to reveal the hypocrisy of the MSM and Blues on the caging of minors at the border: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cartoons-slideshow: although 80% of the recall Newsom signatures have been verified and 1.95 million signatures have been collected, signature drive continues to insure a recall in the event that any of the 1.5 million signatures already received are not valid to insure Newsom is put on a recall ballot where he needs to be given his unmitigated ineptness: https://recallgavin2020.com/petition/

Chicago Gun Violence: HeyJackass.com is back to show that through March 11, 2021,  gun violence involving mostly persons of color shooting persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 537 persons shot of whom 102 have died.

As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this day in history, a musical link to “Managua Nicaragua” by Freddy Martin and His Orchestra with Stuart Wade,  the fact that your pronouncements  rarely produce a quotha from listeners and a quote by one of the largest swindlers of all times Bernie Madoff on money in politics, secure in the knowledge that if you want to send a gift for any memorable events like Mother’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. Please contact me for the details on the pricing.

          1. World Day Against Cyber Censorship—created by Amnesty International and Reporters Without Borders on this day in 2008 to fight against censorship on the internet which sadly is in full force and effect by social media giants like Twitter and Facebook against conservative voices in a more destructive way than government could ever imagine.

           2. Working Moms Day—founded by Working Moms of Milwaukee on December 17, 2019 and first celebrated on this day in 2020 to promote awareness for means of support and resources to deal with the issues working moms face especially when teachers’ unions have held public schools hostage and fought against reopening them for in class instruction.

           3. 1947 Number One Song—the number 1 song in 1947 on this day with a run of 2 weeks in that position was “Managua Nicaragua” by Freddy Martin and His Orchestra with Stuart Wade to share number 1 status with 10 other songs that year.  Here is a recording of “Managua Nicaragua” by Freddy Miller and His Orchestra with Stuart Wade: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5nzolCUeLg

         4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “quotha” which means an expression of surprise or contempt which might describe your responses after hearing Biden’s lapses and gaffes.

          5. A Bain on Reds Who Despise RINOs—celebrating the birth on this day in 1947 of Mitt Romney who made a fortune with Bain Capital, saved the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, became a Governor of Massachusetts, ran a pathetic campaign against Obama 2012 and lost and returned to the Senate as the Junior Senator from Utah in 2019 and remained during the Trump Administration a thorn in his side.

          On this day in:

          a. 1933 President Roosevelt made his first address to the nation during the Great Depression in a series of subsequent radio addresses that would be known as the “fireside chats.”

          b. 1989 Sir Tim Berniers-Lee submitted his proposal for a worldwide information sharing system that would develop into the World Wide Web.

          c. 2009 Financier Bernie Madoff pled guilty to one of the largest Ponzi schemes in Wall Street history mounting to near $100 billion and on June 29, 2009 was sentenced to 150 years in federal prison and is now rotting in a federal penitentiary and has had his pleas filed in December, 2019 for compassionate relief due to kidney disease which is claimed to be terminal denied in 2020.

          d. 2011 A reactor at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant exploded and released radioactivity into the atmosphere a day after the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, contaminating a large area including ground water and leading to the decommissioning of the other reactors in the site.

          e. 2020 President Trump suspended travel from Europe due to the CV pandemic for which he was attacked as being xenophobic.

Reflections on the influence of money in politics from the Ponzi Scheme master who must have contributed millions to politicians to keep the heat from swindling off him:  “I basically think everybody would be better off … if people weren’t able to exert so much influence on politicians with money. Politicians themselves would probably prefer not to deal with them—both begging for and being beholden.” Bernie Madoff.

March 11, 2021 Ridley's Believe It Or Not National 311 Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not March 11, 2021

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues the new year with cases now over 119 million at 119,045,435 with 415,390 new cases (a .35% increase) 21,862,838  which are active, 97,182,597 closed with 94,542,861 recoveries (97.28% and 97.28% yesterday) and 2,639,736 deaths (2.72% and 2.72% yesterday) to continue the trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages with some plateaus.

CV USA Cases: Total cases now nearing 30 million at 29,909,515  with 47,391 new cases (a .16% increase) with 8,665,944 active cases of which 12,550 (.14% of active cases and back to daily decreases and a now a decrease now of 16,721 from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in serious or critical condition, 21,243,571 closures, 543,305 of which have been deaths (2.56% and 2.56% yesterday) and 20,700,266 of which have been recoveries (97.44% and 97.44% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to improve and after many months is now .16% lower than the world rate and now .01% lower than Canada which has the socialized type medicine Biden may well want to implement here but at least has approved 4 vaccines as opposed to our 3  and on a deaths per million population measurement on a steady climb to 1635 ranks behind Belgium (1922), UK (1837) which had passed us despite leading world in testing), Hungary (1711), Italy (1675), and Portugal (1635) and only slightly worse than Bulgaria (1591), Spain (1541),  Mexico (1482), Peru (1452), France (1374), Sweden (1293) that never closed its economy down like we did but has recently been experiencing a rapid rise in  deaths, Brazil (1278),  Poland (1226), Argentina (1173) Switzerland (1160), Chile (1111), and Bolivia (1009) and we have now conducted  374,252,704 tests (now at 1,126,109/M) compared to number 2 now Spain at  861,550/M) as we are conducting  more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark,  Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains off the testing charts with tests at 1,487,027/M.

US Vaccinations: In the U.S. as of 3/10/2021 98.2 million doses have been given, 2.23 million per day in the last week (sounds impressive but if the rate does not increase it will take us now reduced to some 5 months to have 75% of the population vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity. In California 11,220,508 total doses have been given (71.4% of doses received to again remain below U.S. average of 74.9%), but even with the pressure of more than 1.95 million recall signatures have been turned in, California has dropped from 39th to 42nd  out of 50 in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states and at 9.0% of its population fully vaccinated is tied for 46th place with Texas in percentage of residents fully vaccinated .

Non CV Case News: Finally Biden has reappeared to allay the fears he previously was spreading that dark days were ahead on the CV front by switching tunes to claim the best days are now ahead (may be true  on the virus front but doubtful on the illegal alien front and lower income workers who will be competing with millions of illegals Biden is pushing to be allowed to get green cards and enter the work force); Biden announced his goal of goal having all Americans eligible to be vaccinated by May 1 in his speech tonight after blasting the administration that pushed through the vaccines that are now ending up in American arms (stuck in his basement bunker during the campaign probably oblivious to work on the vaccines that will beat this virus); you know the water of scandal on the Cuomo Ship of State must be rising when leftist “journalist” Rachel Maddow warns viewers that Cuomo’s scandals are developing by the second; Biden walks on water is bad enough but at least the movement to historically persevere Harris’ childhood home has for now been rebuffed; Cuomo’s days as governor are becoming rightfully number as a police report has been filed over the last sexual harassment claim which should lead to commencement of the process to move to his impeachment; thank God prospective jurors in the Chauvin Floyd murder trial may still have some honesty as Juror 37 was dismissed after revealing the video of his death brought tears to her eyes and that rioting was necessary to advance the BLM agenda (how could any juror after remembering what happened in Los Angeles after the acquittal of the police officers charged with the beating of Rodney King not feel immense pressure to convict to avoid his or her town from being destroyed by a riot following an acquittal?); as March Madness is soon upon us, after winning the PAC-12 Title for the 14th time the Stanford Women should have a number one seed in their Regional Bracket; backers of a recall effort for L.A. DA Gascon have formally started the process and have started the 160 day clock to obtain 580,000 signatures of registered voters to place a recall on the ballot  https://recallgeorgegascon.com/; while Biden seems to be in a full on increasing mental fade, leave it to a political cartoonist to reveal Harris’ chomping at the bit to invoke the 25th as she measures the curtains for the Oval Office:  https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cartoons-slideshow: although 80% of the recall Newsom signatures have been verified and 1.95 million signatures have been collected, signature drive continues to insure a recall in the event that any of the 1.5 million signatures already received are not valid to insure Newsom is put on a recall ballot where he needs to be given his unmitigated ineptness: https://recallgavin2020.com/petition/

Chicago Gun Violence: HeyJackass.com is back to show that through March 10, 2021,  gun violence involving mostly persons of color shooting persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 533 persons shot of whom 102 have died.

As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this day in history, a musical link to “Personality” by Johnny Mercer and the Pied Pipers and Paul Weston and His Orchestra,  the fact that you rarely quodlibetificate with people and a quote by Blue House Majority Leader John McCormick justifying the Lend Lease Act to an angry constituent, secure in the knowledge that if you want to send a gift for any memorable events like Mother’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. March 10, 2021 Ridley's Believe It Or Not International Bagpipe Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not March 10, 2021

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues the new year with cases now over 118 million at 118,630,045 with 471,680 new cases (a .40% increase) 21,759,397  which are active, 96,870,648 closed with 94,238,652 recoveries (97.28% and 97.28% yesterday) and 2,631,996 deaths (2.72% and 2.72% yesterday) to continue the trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages with some plateaus.

CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 29 million at 29,862,124  with 117,472 new cases (a .39% increase) with 8,679,663 active cases of which 12,607 (.15% of active cases and back to daily decreases and a now a decrease now of 16,664 from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in serious or critical condition, 21,182,461 closures, 542,191 of which have been deaths (2.56% and 2.56% yesterday) and 20,640,270 of which have been recoveries (97.44% and 97.44% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to improve and after many months is now .16% lower than the world rate and now .02% lower than Canada which has the socialized type medicine Biden may well want to implement here but at least has approved 4 vaccines as opposed to our 3  and on a deaths per million population measurement on a steady climb to 1631 ranks behind Belgium (1921), UK (1834) which had passed us despite leading world in testing), Hungary (1693), Italy (1669), and Portugal (1633) and only slightly worse than Bulgaria (1591), Spain (1539),  Mexico (1482), Peru (1452), France (1370), Sweden (1290) that never closed its economy down like we did but has recently been experiencing a rapid rise in  deaths, Brazil (1268),  Poland (1216), Argentina (1173) Switzerland (1159), Chile (1103), and Bolivia (1009) and we have now conducted  373,104,726 tests (now at 1,122,695/M) compared to number 2 now Spain at  861,550/M) as we are conducting  more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark,  Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains off the testing charts with tests at 1,462,645/M.

US Vaccinations: In the U.S. as of 3/10/2021 95.7 million doses have been given, 2.17 million per day in the last week (sounds impressive but if the rate does not increase it will take us now reduced to some 6 months to have 75% of the population vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity. In California 11,62,505 total doses have been given (72.3% of doses received to again remain below U.S. average of 74.9%), but even with the pressure of more than 1.95 million recall signatures have been turned in, California has improved from 42nd to 39th  out of 50 in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states. A long way to go to get herd immunity and little improvement relative to other states and a great reason to recall this inept governor. As of 3/7/2021 in California we have reduced hospitalizations to 4,291/M with COVID-19 patients hospitalized occupying 7.2% of all hospital beds.

Non CV Case News: The cat of Hypocrisy has Harris’ tongue as after addressing reporters about the Senate COVID-19 “Relief Bill” she immediately scurries off the stage when asked about Cuomo’s growing sexual harassment scandal (her #ME Too rants against Kavanaugh a distant memory in her hypocrite mind; Biden has gone 49 days without a formal press conference and his handlers spent Tuesday shielding him the press so questions asked of him while touring a hardware store that had received PPP money were not answered (if Hans Christen Andersen were alive he would be writing a new Emperor’s New Clothes story The Emperor Has No Mind); 85 New York Legislators are demanding that Cuomo either resign or be impeached as a 6th female aide has come forth claiming while be summoned to help on a phone problem, he reached under her blouse and the other bookend scandal of his handling of nursing home COVID-19 admissions and concealing of the death count remain active; in a chilling news item a 39 year old mother died within 4 days after taking her second dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine; Alcatraz, that former federal penitentiary on the Bay will be reopening for visitors after being closed since December due to the  CV Pandemic; Kat Sullivan a Florida RN and sexual abuse survivor is on the warpath against Cuomo paying for billboards demanding he resign and be impeached with catchy slogans like “Free the Nipple, Fire the Boob”; for trainophiles great news as AMTRAK announced it was restoring daily service to 12 long distance routes;; backers of a recall effort for L.A. DA Gascon have formally started the process and have started  160 day clock to obtain 580,000 signatures of registered voters to place a recall on the ballot https://recallgeorgegascon.com/; while Biden seems to be in a full on increasing mental fade, leave it to a political cartoonist to reveal Harris’ chomping at the bit to invoke the 25th as she measures the curtains for the Oval Office:   https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cartoons-slideshow: although 80% of the recall Newsom signatures have been verified and 1.95 million signatures have been collected, signature drive continues to insure a recall in the event that any of the 1.5 million signatures already received are not valid to insure Newsom is put on a recall ballot where he needs to be given his unmitigated ineptness: https://recallgavin2020.com/petition/

Chicago Gun Violence: HeyJackass.com is back to show that through March 9, 2021,  gun violence involving mostly persons of color shooting persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 526 persons shot of whom 100 have died.

          5. For Pete’s Sake--celebrating the birth on this day in 1920 of Dutch American businessman Alfred Peet, who was a pioneer coffee roaster introducing the American palate to finer coffees and who founded Peet’s Coffee and Tea in Berkeley, California in 1966 and who mentored the founder’s of Starbuck’s and sold his chain of high quality roasted coffees establishments in 1979 to Sol Bonavita but remained on as a coffee buyer. He passed away on August 29, 2007 having inspired and mentored numerous entrepreneurs to go into the gourmet coffee business.

US Vaccinations: In the U.S. as of 3/9/2021 93.7 million doses have been given, 2.15 million per day in the last week (sounds impressive but if the rate does not increase it will take us now reduced to some 6 months to have 75% of the population vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity. In California 10,925,581 total doses have been given (72.6% of doses received to again slide below U.S. average of 76.0%), but even with the pressure of more than 1.95 million recall signatures have been turned in, California has slid  from 33rd to 42nd   out of 50 in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states.          Non CV Case News: Kamala Harris seems to be aping Edith Wilson and continues to take calls from and call to foreign leaders as Biden seems incapable of even remembering the name of a member of his Cabinet standing next to him; Biden whose staff is working 24/7 to shield from the public his fading mental abilities, has become the first president in modern times to go 48 days without a press conference following an election; as 6th woman has come forward alleging Andrew Cuomo inappropriately  touched her the Always Biased Cack also know as ABC is being mocked for a “love fest” interview with Cuomo in June of 2020 that praised him beyond and ignored the scandal of the deaths in his nursing homes; the counter culture wars continue to rage unabated as Bringham’s Ice Cream bowing to pressure that its ”Just Jimmies” honors Jim Crow Laws and has changed the ice cream name to “Just Sprinkles”; backers of a recall effort for L.A. DA Gascon have formally started the process and have started  160 day clock to obtain 580,000 signatures of registered voters to place a recall on the ballot https://recallgeorgegascon.com/; while Biden slams the Neanderthal thinking of Governor Abbot opening Texas, leave it to a political cartoonist to reveal the hypocrisy of opening the border to illegal aliens infected with COVID-19: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cartoons-slideshow: although 80% of the recall Newsom signatures have been verified and 1.95 million signatures have been collected, signature drive continues to insure a recall in the event that any of the 1.5 million signatures already received are not valid to insure Newsom is put on a recall ballot where he needs to be given his unmitigated ineptness: https://recallgavin2020.com/petition/

As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this day in history, a musical link to “Beseme Mucho (Kiss Me Much)” by Jimmy Dorsey and His Orchestra with Roy Eberly and Kitty Kallen as vocals,  the fact that you pay to receive a quittance and a quote by John Pershing on the Punitive Expedition, secure in the knowledge that if you want to send a gift for any memorable events like Mother’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient.           1. Organize Your Home Office Day—created on the 2nd Tuesday in March, 1993 and with the advent of Zoom and with the COVID-19 pandemic forcing more and more people to work virtually at home more important than ever to present to the virtual world of fellow workmates a neat organized and productive home work space.

           2. Amerigo Vespucci Day—created proclamation of New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller on March 2, 1959 and celebrated first on March 9, 1959 on the anniversary of the birthday of Amerigo Vespucci, a noted Italian mariner and who the two American continents have been named after but like Columbus Day the day is most likely in the cross hairs of the Cancel Culture Warriors.

           3. 1944 Number One Song—the number 1 song in 1944 on this day with a run of 7 weeks in that position was “Beseme Mucho (Kiss Me Much)” by Jimmy Dorsey and His Orchestra with vocals by Bob Eberly and Kitty Kallen. Here is a recording of “Beseme Mucho (Kiss Me Much)” by Jimmy and His Orchestra with vocals by Bob Everly and Kitty Kallen:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lemtaUo8csE   Kallen was a sought after Big Band singer and during the Swing Era but lost her voice after a concert in 1955 but after 4 years of not performing she came back singing under a pseudonym as it returned in full form to record 13 hits. She passed at the ripe age of 94 on January 7, 2016.

         4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “quittance” which means a release from a debt or obligation which today thousands of graduates with degrees that are useless in the job market and burdened with thousands of dollars of student debt are looking to get from Biden.

          5. Safer in Space?--celebrating the birth on this day in 1934 of Soviet Cosmonaut who on April 12, 1961 became the first human to orbit the Earth in a space flight that lasted 108 minutes. Sadly after a Soyus 1 crash that killed the Cosmonaut aboard, Gagarin was banned from further space flights due to his hero status in the Soviet Union and in reacquiring fighter pilot status in the Soviet Air Force was killed in a Mig-15 training crash on March 27, 1968.

          On this day in:

          a. 1916 Pancho Villa led 500 raiders to attack the town of Columbus, New Mexico in a pitched battle against the U.S. Cavalry that killed 9 soldiers and 11 civilians and wounded 7 soldiers and 2 civilians but lost 183 killed and wounded and 7 captured, 6 of whom were hanged, and prompted President Wilson to send a Punitive Expedition into Mexico led by Black Jack Pershing.

           b. 1959 the Barbie Doll made its successful debut at the American International Toy Fair in New York City.

           c. 1961 in a Cosmonaut survivability test, a dog, some mice and a guinea pig were launched in a Sputnik 9 launch and the dog named Chernushka survived the launch, orbit and landing which was a green light for Yuri Gagarin’s later orbit into space.

           d. 1997 in a life apes music moment the Notorious B.I.G. after attending the Soul Train Music Awards was gunned down after leaving a party at the Petersen Automotive Museum. The murder has yet to be solved.

          e. 2011 the Space Shuttle Discovery landed on its last Shuttle Mission soon to be joined later that year by the Shuttles Endeavor and Atlantis which was the last Shuttle Mission.

Reflections on the Rules of Engagement imposed on Pershing in the  Punitive Expedition following Pancho Villa’s Raid on Columbus, New Mexico: "Having dashed into Mexico with the intention of eating the Mexicans raw, we turned back at the first repulse and are now sneaking home under cover, like a whipped curr with its tail between its legs." John J. Pershing.

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues the new year with cases now over 117 million at 117,752,800 with 326,141 new cases (a .28% increase) 21,708,400  which are active, 96,041,400 closed with 93,429,250 recoveries (97.28% and 97.27% yesterday) and 2,612,150 deaths (2.72% and 2.73% yesterday) to continue the trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages with some plateaus.

CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 29 million at 29,744,652  with 55,167 new cases (a .19% increase) with 8,756,390 active cases of which 12,882 (.15% of active cases and back to daily decreases and a now a decrease now of 16,389 from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in serious or critical condition, 20,988,262 closures, 538,628 of which have been deaths (2.57% and 2.58% yesterday) and 20,449,624 of which have been recoveries (97.43% and 97.42% yesterday). In California 10,805,474 total doses have been given (77.8% of doses received to again slide  below U.S. average of 79.1%), but probably because of the pressure of more than 1.5 million recall signatures have been turned in, California has remained at 33rd   out of 50 in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states. A long way to go to get herd immunity and little improvement relative to other states and a great reason to recall this inept governor. As of 3/7/2021 in California we have reduced hospitalizations to 4,291/M with COVID-19 patients hospitalized occupying 7.2% of all hospital beds.

Non CV Case News: Prince Harry’s and Meghan Markel’s interview with Oprah Winfrey did not go will reportedly with the Royal Family as Prince William is outraged over his wife being drawn in and Prince Charles refusing to speak to Prince Harry (hard to feel empathy with Markel as she was wearing a dress for the interview that cost $5,000); no need to feel pity for Harry and Meghan after leaving the Royal Family as Harry received $10 million from his mother’s estate (no pity assumes that Markel will not spend inheritance into oblivion); in a Jeffrey Toobin near aping Zoom  conference masturbating, Brian Stelter was on the air remote without pants which even without jerking off represents a new journalistic low for this pseudo journalist hack; the LA UTA voted overwhelmingly not to return to the classroom but recognizing the wrath of hypocrisy revealed on social media has warned its members against  any posts on Spring Break;  Cuomo’s rag on his performance during  the pandemic is no longer be promoted by its publisher (if this lowlife had even the slightest bit of integrity and honor, the proceeds of the book sales would be donated to the survivors of those seniors who lost their lives to CV in nursing homes due to his moving COVID infected patients into them); Jake Tapper a leftist hack  whose views should not be censored  so  readers can decide after reading whether they should be in the crapper was attacking defenders of Doctor Seuss for not specifically addressing the passages in the 6  books the Seuss Foundation indicated it would no longer publish; backers of a recall effort for L.A. DA Gascon have formally started the process and have 160 days to obtain 580,000 signatures of registered voters to place a recall on the ballot https://recallgeorgegascon.com/; while Biden slams the Neanderthal thinking of Governor Abbot opening Texas, leave it to a political cartoonist to reveal the hypocrisy of opening the border to illegal aliens infected with COVID-19: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cartoons-slideshow: although 80% of the recall Newsom signatures have been verified and 1.95 million signatures have been collected, signature drive continues to insure a recall in the event that any of the 1.5 million signatures already received are not valid to insure Newsom is put on a recall ballot where he needs to be given his unmitigated ineptness: https://recallgavin2020.com/petition/

Chicago Gun Violence: HeyJackass.com is back to show that through March 76, 2021,  gun violence involving mostly persons of color shooting persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 499 persons shot of whom 98 have died.

Reflections on the hype leading up to the Fight of the Century: ““The thrust of this fight on the public consciousness is incalculable. It has been a ceaseless whir that seems to have grown in decibel with each new soliloquy by Ali, with each dead calm promise by Frazier. It has magnetized the imagination of ring theorists, and flushed out polemicists of every persuasion. It has cut deep into the thicket of our national attitudes, and it is a conversational imperative everywhere—from the gabble of big-city salons and factory lunch breaks rife with unreasoning labels, to ghetto saloons with their own false labels.”  Mark Kram Sports Illustrated.

On International Women's Day Gov Noem Supports Women's Sports BidenTries to Destroy Them

Today is International Women’s Day at a time when many women’s economic gains have disappeared The pandemic induced lockdowns, in some cases knee jerk reactions, women could no longer in the work force appear
Add to closing of restaurants, salons, casinos, hotels and spas
Another closing  inspired by the teachers’ unions a job killing flaw
Closing the schools to only computer learning meant  one spouse would have to stay home
Often the female and her income and career buried in the pandemic catacombs
Or a single mom without relatives or means to pay for child care
That job and security to disappear into thin air
Will not solve the job loss but Governor Noem raised the banner of women’s rights
Banned transgender biologic males from competing in women’s sports to win all trophies in sight
And for a pathetic mentally frail Biden
Whose connection from reality continues to widen
In essence told his idiotic executive order to pound sand
To avoid the death of Title IX women and men must compete separately in this land
